Did the same thing to a bartender lady I had seen around in college. She did give me her number, but I'd say it's a cliche and will probably not work unless you've seen them around and/or they recognize you from somewhere.

Personal experience tells me that if she blushes and still has a genuine smile, it's probably a good thing. Especially if you're a good looking guy. However, it could have thrown her off a bit and made her a bit uncomfortable, making her blush, but that's not the vibe I'm getting here.
