Just tonight, I watched an old movie "Freddie VS Jason" and was surprised that the indoctrination was beginning even back then (early 2000's?) I don't think you realize how complex the "coupled human" relationships really are. It's not like being friends, even very close friends. Once you're no longer free to leave, you have to deal with the totality of that person's quirks: the good they show everyone, and the bad they keep hidden. Many people don't turn into assholes. They just discover they didn't realize quite what they signed up for, don't like it, can't leave, and many try to just endure but run out of patience eventually.

No, disagree. Riding a motorbike is a risk, swimming in a lightning storm is a risk, skating on ice is a risk, but we're not going to jail people for engaging in risky behaviour. I had a conversation a couple weeks ago on r/MensRights about how women are painted as having higher emotional intelligence, but it's actually men who must adapt to their wife's/SO's emotions to keep things stable, therefore the conclusion is that women actually have less emotional intelligence precisely because they're too easily swayed by their passions. The more I think on this, the more I think it's so, so true.

I've become more aware since #metoo that women spend a lot more time than men thinking of men in the singular, not as people but almost like a different species. Yea but this kind of take-charge, "men are inherently all dawgs" attitude appeals to the women in the audience, and .. oh, haven't you heard? They have money to buy their own stuff now, so Hollywood has wanted to appeal to them to grab a slice. Since men don't have feelings, it's not like we revolt, and just walk away from society altogether. Except, hm, evidently we've already started doing that. Also keep in mind, 90% of men are completely invisible to women. If we just decide to not lose our dignity by lowering ourselves to become an OnlySimp, then what happens? The other 90% doesn't suddenly become visible to women when we keep our mouths shut. Even as we walk away from dating en masse, most women are only sarcastically sympathetic, but don't really give a shit.
