Yup. Once she filed for divorce, she made it her mission to lie and slander my name in order to make sure that I had as little right to see the kids as possible while also purposefully being underemployed so she could max out spousal support and child support. She needlessly fought tooth and nail about everything in the divorce, racking up tens of thousands in lawyer fees for each, negotiating a possible settlement in bad faith so she wouldn’t have to budge an inch from her initial asks. Then wh…

Because it isn’t cut and dry like you think it is. My ex had a $150,000 inheritance from a death in her family. I had a $80,000 pre-marital gift from my parents to help with a down payment of a house that was purchased before we had gotten married, none of the either funds were co mingled, but at the divorce hearing the judge said that her money was non-marital, but my money was a marital asset that was to be split with my ex. If you actually read the divorce laws in most states, there are very …

I filed the moment I was legally able to. I don’t think my case is the typical outcome, but I got screwed with an activist judge that wanted to make a name for herself.

Yes she did, no I didn’t get them back. She got lucky that the judge assigned to our case wanted the kids to remain in the new state and actively worked on her behalf to get the case I filed in the state they fled dropped. She now blames me for her having a hard life as a single mother and any issues the kids have because I didn’t uproot my life and move to somewhere I told her I would never consider moving to.

I went through a similar scenario. Initially when my ex filed she put her income as 12,000 per year and the ex parte temp order used that number. I tried to get that number to be recalculated since she had previously earned 90k per year and currently is only working 6-10 hours per week, they increased her imputed income to 18,000. At the final trial, we tried to get it recalculated again because since the last hearing she still wasn’t working full time, they imputed it as 40,000 per year. So the…

My kids were in school in their new state for about 2.5 months. Just remember, the military doesn’t give a shit about you or how the rest of your life plays out with the divorce and custody situation. I would much rather face a court martial or dishonorable discharge than deal with losing the chance to have meaningful time with my kids. If I had to go back in time, I would have left my work trip the minute I found out, drove to go get them, go into hiding so my ex wouldn’t be able to take them b…

Yes it happened to me. If your lawyer says it is legal to go get your kids and bring them back home do that ASAP, the longer they are out of state the better chance she has of getting the courts to agree they should stay there. I waited for a ruling from a judge because I was naive and thought any reasonable person would see what she did and order the kids back to me, it took a few months to get before a judge, and by then thee judge said the kids had been in school long enough there, had made f…

I’ve posted snippets of mine before. My ex took the kids and moved back to the state she grew up in when I was in a business trip. She got an activist judge whom obviously took an interest in having the kids remain in the new state, going as far as to call up the judges in the state I was in to pressure them to drop the ongoing case so it could be tried under her in the new state. Needless to say I lost. Got absolutely bent over a barrel in the proceeding divorce case, and it has made me lose al…

That might have been the case for you. I just recently finalized a divorce after my wife took the kids and moved to a new state. The judge ruled that my ex got everything that she asked for in her parenting plan proposal. So I get 2-3 weeks during the school year for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring break. And during the summer I get 2 weeks in June and 2 Weeks in July. I was an extremely active and involved parent throughout my kids childhood, no criminal history, and spent a year fighting t…

Don’t do it, You can kiss that money goodbye. When my STBX left I split my paycheck 50/50 with her, since I didn’t want my kids to have to suffer while she wasn’t bringing in any income, plus I figured it would be considered a prepayment of child/spousal support once the court finally ordered it. I ended up paying her close to 20k before the judge finally gave the initial order for support payments, and after fighting tooth and nail, I was able to get $6,000 of the $20,000 I gave her credited on…

Honestly, it just sounds like the judge doesn’t like you, or men in general and it doesn’t matter what you do, the wife will keep getting a pass and you will end up losing. I’m in a similar situation, it sucks, but not much you can do really. It has made me completely lose faith in the judicial system, judges are going trying to get their day over with as quick as possible and are putting in the effort, which is disgusting since their decision have massive impacts on people’s lives.

All of this. The worst part is the temporary orders from the judge didn’t give me any parenting time so I have to play along with all the bullshit otherwise she won’t let me see the kids. I cant wait for the final judgement to be decided and go into effect so I don’t have to put up with her shit anymore
