I understand the sentiment but I don't think it is that simple. Mass media, especially social media, is not conducive to anything other than provocative, lowest common denominator dreck. It needs to be grass-roots stuff, anything else is inauthentic.

You're talking about one aspect of cognitive-behavioural therapy, which is not the only form of therapy, and is arguably the least effective.

It's about money and prestige. It isn't about "all organisations benefit from diversity", although that may be true. If it were really about creating a more diverse society or whatever, you would see similar movements to get more men into teaching or childcare roles.

I'm not insisting, but I don't think that anyone who believed it was a genuine post is dangerously gullible. I totally agree that the intersection of "news" and entertainment isn't good for a well-informed population. But my critical thinking tells me that "there are an equal amount of people, if not more, who would joke with their friends like this", is a huge assumption, which you asserted as a fact. I suppose I'm not convinced that this is as good an example of internet gullibility as you mig…

It's only obvious if you already know that they're friends. There are people in the world who are obnoxious and entitled enough to say something like that sincerely.
