Men have been trained to be a man. If it hurts, be a man. If it feels emotional, be a man. If you can't take it, be a man. No matter what happens, you'd better put up with it. Stoically. And be a man. And everyone, women too, celebrates that. Men are very fearful of being not a man. Being less than a man. Being......weak. But are you really strong if you are breaking apart inside? Numbing on alcohol, video games, masturbation, pot, distractions? Is that strength? Ignoring your problems? Falling …

My view totally changed 15 years later.

This is basically what the movie "Fight Club" is about. "We're a generation of men raised by women." Except rather than go for self-improvement, they find meaning in self-destruction, beating the shit out of each other and trying to spread anarchy. I definitely take away a different message from that movie as an adult. Every 16 year old thinks the message is "we should start a fight club and punch each other". But the fight clubs are what ruined the main character's life. What really made him ha…

The problem is it too often reverts to "fuck women", and "look how hard we have it" rather than solutions, accountability, self-improvement, and practical talking points. Which is exactly the problem that feminism is having right now. Nobody ever gets anywhere playing the victim and asking the whole world to change first, for them. Not adults. Kids can get away with it, for awhile. Sure, it's really easy to just constantly, constantly say "Hey everybody, did you realize how shitty these people a…

Yes, you have to know you are loved. You shouldn't try to be whatever everyone wants you to be to try and earn it from them.

It's Self-hating. It's a version of the modern problem of virtue signaling. People will do anything to be seen as a "good person". It doesn't matter if it's right. It doesn't matter if it's true. It doesn't matter if it means disrespecting yourself, or others. It can literally devolve into saying "yeah, I'm literally terrible. Everyone like me is terrible. Yeah man, life would be better if less of people like me were around." All of that to try and fit in. All of that to know, when you go home, …

I’m not a feminist. I’m not an anti feminist. I do think feminism has an important place in history but I don’t align with its modern form. I feel the same way. I truly envision a world where we can all have genuine harmony. But right now, it feels like we're at war! Though I challenge myself to reside in a position that not everything feminists say is wrong. Just because they are controversial, and inflammatory, doesn't mean some of their points or feelings aren't fair or good ones. And that's …

I don't want to be that person, but sometimes it is because the therapist is a woman. I've had a therapist, a woman, who was wonderful. I've also had one who literally kind of had it out for me, partly because of being a man, which was evident. Honestly if you can...trying to find that loving, calm fatherly figure is your best bet, if you can find it. Or someone chill, maybe spiritual but not necessarily religious. Because men can be kind of cold, shitty, and judgemental too. I personally wouldn…

It also purports that therapy solves everything, and is the only solution to everything. It doesn't, and it isn't. It is only one option, and it doesn't always work. Also, not everyone can afford it, and the cheap/free therapists are often shit. But even the world's most expensive therapist does not have a magic wand to fix the conditions of your life. It's complicated.

I guess a question that I bring up is, are we healing specifically to assist women and be what they want us to be? Are we their accessory that exists just for their comfort? Or are we healing to become the person that we want to be? Do men get to have control over our healing? Or do women get to say how we should do it? And are we just supposed to be quiet and let them do that? We will be helping women, ourselves, and the world by healing. It is the most selfless thing you can do is heal, it isn…

Furthermore, if I do go and get therapy. Will you be supportive of that? If I cry, can you handle it? Will you push me down for crying? Will you be disgusted at a man crying? Will you enforce antique gender norms and be grossed out at me being vulnerable, and shame me? What kind of person does that make you if you do do that? Are you sure you really want me to get therapy, and to get better? Or do you just want to get rid of me, or just shape me and mold me and make me how you want to make me? I…

For men to actually improve. For this world to get better. For human beings to get better as a whole. What is the answer? "Men need to heal themselves." Yes. I am humble and fair enough to admit that I need to improve, and men need to improve (because also, I'm only one guy. I'm not "men"). But, the world wants us to improve. They also want us to share our emotions. But when we do, we get ridiculed and criticized, told "we are just a bunch of triggered, crying men"? Thanks for holding space for …

Yeah. We all have a lot of growing to do. And it's gonna hurt. But if we do grow into a more mature society...everyone won't hate each other so much anymore. Because we'll all actually be a lot more pleasant to be around. A lot better at communicating. A lot more patient, logical, direct, and cohesive. We just aren't there yet. And nobody wants to put in the work. It's a lot easier to wait for everyone else to go first. That's a big part. It's so much easier for anyone, of any gender, to blame o…

Yes. There is no bad information. The only thing that can be bad, is what you decide to do with it. The more information, the better. You're always learning something. Even if that means disagreeing with it, or leaning what not to do. But it's very hard to settle down our ego, and listen to someone we hate. It's also very hard to disagree with someone we really like.

It's hard to swallow, but yes. It's not a zero-sum market. Everyone can/should have resources. And actually, it will mean everyone can/will get better. We only hurt everyone by trying to take away someone else's resources. It's a scarcity mindset, and it's false. It only destroys.

You are absolutely correct. This mindset is the most productive out there, and it's the only way forward. It is the mature stance. It's not fun. But it's the hard truth. Both men and women are going to have growing pains as we enter into this new world. 75 years ago women were in fact resigned to the kitchen, as that is what society expected of them. They couldn't be a doctor or a lawyer. In this short time period, everything has changed. Women are now more likely to graduate college, statistica…
