I've never read about someone being called a hero specifically for murdering a pedophile. It's usually because they stopped the raping of a child, and if the situation escalates into a fight they might end up killing them in self-defense. On average men would have it much easier than women to incapacitate the other without needing to use lethal force, that's why it's also expected from them much more. But if someone sets out to brutally murder a person, even a pedophilic one, instead of calling …

Tbf they didn't intervene after his first few punches, and quite frankly I don't see any white knighting here. They intervene once the guy had basically locked her up and started rapidly throwing hard punches at her face (while she seemingly bangs her head against the wall). That's the moment where even the immature kids who found it funny before realize that it's dangerous. That's serious concussion territoriy and far beyond her bullying/tantrum attacks. And I know that's an unpopular opinion o…

You can't physically hurt someone without emotional implications. It shows you that they don't care enough for you to actually help you change, they want to discipline you through fear instead, they don't respect your well-being nor your personal space, they are hypocritical by disregarding the norm of being non-violent while punishing you for disregarding rules, and usually it's very impulsive which means it's unfair since you had no chance to justify your actions. Not to mention how simply by …

Physical harm also causes psychological distress. Also, you can say for basically everything that it'll go away but that doesn't make it good. I'd prefer to have a life with less violence than getting constantly hurt. Or are you not trying to avoid pain even if it's just temporary?

The comment misunderstood what the lawsuit said. The 140m are the wealth that is split between the two, not what he is getting. She likely also has assets from before their marriage or otherwise from the shared wealth excluded ones, which could add up to 190m, or it's simply the wrongly estimated amount from Forbes or another magazine.

I can't believe I have to say this to an (I assume) grown person, but here we go. SELF-DEFENSE implies that the other person took physical action first Never denied that, just said that the motivation for punching someone back is not to stop an attack (self-defense) but to get revenge for a previous one. A response with physical violence is not escalation. When the attack stopped and you pick it up again, it is. A fight needs to parties and in this scenario, no one forced you to join in. Punchin…

Yeah, that's about the response that I expected from someone that justified revenge by self-defense. Just imagine how easily I had changed your mind if I had punched you instead. I only hope that you don't have any kids to hit when you feel emotional again.

This is not about street fights or self-defense. In these situations, your physical integrity isn't threatened, the attack is over and to avoid another one, you could deescalate or walk away. You can risk making it into a full-on fight though, where both parties will get further harm. You will just not have any benefit from it other than maybe revenge. I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that it never does Yes, in rare instances it does but normally it won't and can also make the situati…

I know that this sub celebrates it, but counterviolence doesn't help anyone and won't teach your opponent a thing. It's just an immature reaction of people who can't control their impulses, and all the childish "but-she-did-it-first" justification doesn't make it better.

otherwise douchy types of individuals Like people who instantly punch back harder, instead of deescalating.

I don't know in what kind of warzone you are living but in most countries you aren't allowed to use lethal force if not necessary. Do you break a drunken dudes neck because he tried to punch you or do you just walk away? When teenagers get in a fight, do you interrupt it by shooting them down? When some angered person slaps you, do you strangle them to death? The situations in which lethal force are necessary are just not very likely in a civilized country. Some people can't control their temper…

Better safe than sorry would be running away, not killing someone. I've seen people get paralyzed for life for "a simply fight" and people can get killed by a knockout Because with this mindest the fight isn't over before someone is seriously injured. When you turn a thrown punch into a fight for your life, you force your opponent to do the same. This isn't even some crackhead trying to rob your money with his knife, the video is about an argument that escalated, there's a high chance simply hol…

And because it's legal, it's the right thing to do? The attacker very likely didn't have the intention to kill him. So just to save youself from some bruises you're ready to take someone's life? Why not try to deescalate the situation or just hurt him enough so that he won't continue.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
