In reality, yeah. But that is the job of Congress. The president appoints and Congress decided if they agree. The hearing isn't totally about only legality. Although, usually it's just a dog and pony show and they just let the appointee through. Right now it doesn't "feel" right to allow the president to pick his potential judge. The fact that a president under investigation is specifically picking a judge that says the president shouldn't be able to face charges as the potential judge for his (the president) case. The study has the advantage of having a ton of data and the fact that the dispatching software doesn't even receive gender as a parameter, pay isn't determined by bargaining, and the hours are completely flexible. It eliminates a lot of the usual suspects for the pay gap. Yet men were still more aggressive and still out earned the women.

One thing to remember is that this study was done with data before Uber added tipping. It's very likely that this gap will change. Any research I've seen about tipping is that there is a positive correlation with being a white woman with large boobs and tip amount. The study looked at pay per hour. Men were better at finding better paying locations/times, were faster, and were more experienced due to a lower attrition rate. This study too place with data before tips were introduced. I wouldn't be surprised if tips have changed the "pay gap."

Very different situations. She wasn't carrying a weapon, and there seemed to be security there that could help. I'd also argue that by controlling the one girl he totally lost control of the other girl who could have jumped him. I don't think the structure of the government is really the key. It's how the voting system works. Right now it is winner takes all and you're only allowed one vote per seat. An alternative is a ranked choice system. That way you rank the possible outcomes. You could put your third party candidate at the top, but as to not "throw away" your vote you could put the major party after. Most people in this thread don't seem to understand bail. A bail amount is not supposed to be punishment. It's before a conviction after all. It's set determined by a person's flight risk and ability to afford it. You guys can complain about the punishment when the sentencing gets announced.

A lot of people don't understand the criminal justice system. The bail amount is determined by flight risk and the person's ability to pay. She is likely pretty poor and a higher bail is unnecessary. Bail itself is not supposed to be punishment.
