You're probably right. I actually meant to reply to Vnotforvendetta as to why this might belong in men's rights. Personally I'm opposed to objecting to hypotheticals - but others have pointed out that OP's objection is more likely about her beating the child based on an allegation, and then the confession which arose from the aforementioned beating. If we see fit to beat alleged offenders, we've already lost everything that matters. Edit: Vnotforvendetta*

There is that part too. I guess what came to mind for me is how in vigilante crimes, especially related to sexual violence, you see a double standard applied to women. It challenges the societal expectation that female violence shouldn't be taken as seriously because women are "less dangerous." People who find cases to justify female on male violence hardly can imagine the same in the other direction; think woman castrates husband for abuse vs. the equivalent for the other gender. I think OP's concern is how much time a man would have gotten for beating this minor, regardless of whether said minor was a predator. There seems to be a double standard regarding vigilante justice - Grandpa dearest might be looking at more than probation + time served.
