Tokyo, Sendai, Hakodate, Noboribetsu, Sapporo, Osaka, Kobe, Himeji, Kyoto, Takayama, Nagoya, Kamakura. Sounds like a lot but I was there for a month. I loved Hokkaido in the winter, We don't really get snow in Australia so I haven't seen it since I was a kid. I remember sitting in this cute little cafe in Shirakawa-go eating lunch in front of this big window and it was snowing really hard outside. It was beautiful.

Once you understand how evolution works you can use it to explain everything that requires any critical thinking in biology. The rest is just memorizing facts. I did go down the animal biology / ecology route rather than the microbiology / chemistry route though. I hated chemistry.

I studied Biology at university and couldn't find a job afterwards. I ended up working some genetic desk job in a totally different field. I think it's okay if you enjoy it, Biology is easy mode as far as STEM goes so it's good if you just want to spend 3-4 years fucking around. Also Biology is one of the few STEM fields with more women than men (not that it helped me any).

I had a male baby sitter pretty often when I was a kid, my parents knew him pretty well though. It's coming back to bite society now though, they are screaming out for male teachers, especially early learning teachers. They are starting to realise how bad it is for boys to have no male role models at all in their formative years. I regret being too scared to go into the cuddle cafe when I was in Japan. I wish that kind of thing existed here. I get why it doesn't exist, most men aren't able to just leave it at a hug, so it would be a dangerous job, but some of us really just want a hug. I feel like if I could just go somewhere and get a cuddle for 30 min a week without being shamed for it, I could be a much more productive member of society instead of being the bitter social recluse I've become.
