A daily cleaning schedule has been keeping me sane since starting my new job. I tackle one room a day. Also, for you ladies who listen to podcasts, A Slob Comes Clean has helped me out so much! Give it a listen!

Holy cow I thought this might be an article from The Onion...of all the issues that affect women they have to pick out armpits of a fictional character and not things like female genital mutilation or human trafficking. Such a complete joke.

Nothing is falling apart. Women (and men!) have always made stupid decisions and will continue to make stupid decisions.

“We were told to emulate men, and it’s caused this sort of rise of the lady bro,” she continued. “We were also told to sort of shirk our feminine desires. So, women don’t really speak up nowadays, especially young women, to say I want to get married, I want to have kids.” Lady bro...that's a new one. I like it! She is totally correct about young women needing to keep quiet about wanting marriage and a family. Looks like another book is going to be added to my reading list! Thanks for sharing!

Sounds like you are wanting to ride the CC. Not very RPW at all. Don't do it. This will not end well for you in the long run.

Good on you for getting the help you need. Of course you can still incorporate the philosophy of this sub into your life! A lot of the content on this sub helped me get depression out of my life by giving motivation and guidance, but most of all, forced me to be accountable to my actions and not play the victim card. Welcome!

Uhh. Crop tops and booty short combo is the worst. Half the time I see a girl wearing that I get flash backs of rap videos on MTV circa 2002...huge fan of Ralph Lauren wrap dresses from Macy's cute and really comfy!

The key benefit for people is education (GI Bill) and career opportunities. I think people who join for housing/medical is very rare. Why would you put the work in when you can get it for free while on welfare? . . If we want enlisted women, I think we need to stop with the equality bull shit and start thinking about duties that would be well suited for women. Instead of punishments, why not work to prevent the problem? You can't do crazy physical labor while pregnant, but you can do things like…

In the past week (following some shopping that involved a stop to H&M) , I started to really feel old. It used to be one of my favorite stores, but I haven't stepped in one for a year or two. Not sure if it was just the styles they were showing, but it felt so weird to have a sudden realization that I've grown up. Even G mentioned that everything looked pretty young. It seems like I'm in hyper aware mode about it and am feeling a little overwhelmed. I'll be turning 25 in July and still feel yout…

Honestly, this is not surprising. The overwhelming majority of women in the Navy are enlisted members rather than officers. Of course that means that a lot of the work they are doing on ships would be a lot of grunt work like maintaining aircraft, but depending on the position they could be doing something like scraping old paint on the side of the ship. Women officers on the other hand have it much better as the work is medical or management related. They're certainly intelligent women and this…

Currently reading the Surrendered Wife by Laura Doyle. If you haven't read it, go to your local library or book shop and pick up a copy. Really great advice. My SO and I also read The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman together while on a road trip. Short, easy, and fun read with alone or with your partner.

Been trying to be super first mate for G, as he has been extremely busy with work and will be heading overseas soon for a few months. Since his career is very mentally and physically demanding, I've been making sure his life outside of work is as easy as possible. Back in January when he started some training, we had conversations about expectations and what would be going on in the next several months. Communication is an absolutely key! Especially in any relationship that has long distance, mi…

Solipsism itself is amoral. What we do with it is not. Really really eye opening statement. This made everything click.

Love languages are so important! Clearly OP scored higher on words of affirmation (judging by how pleased he was about it) and perhaps many of the critical commenters scored low on it. Actions speak louder than words for most men, and probably is a huge reason why things like meals, maintaining the house hold, and other acts of service are so well received by men.

There definitely seems to be a sliding scale with solipsism. Just like all personality traits too little can be almost as bad as too much. Sometimes a solipcistic point of view is welcomed in coversation, but other times its completely unnecessary. Do you find that it's always women who try to work into a debate like that? Or have you seen men do it as well?

Excellent points! You've hit the nail on the head about the difference between friendships. Pretty hard to imagine a group of men (at least straight men)huddled around cups of coffee while talking about horrible first date stories or analyzing texts from the women they're dating. Seems so backwards. However, from observation of my SO it seems that his relationships with his friends are a lot deeper and connected. Not sure if its because a lot of them were in the armed services as well, or if the…

Not an "official" SAHW, but in a lull between jobs and G is really encouraging me to embrace it. So for the past two months I've been at home during the day. When I don't go out, I'll wear soft fleece leggings and a cotton top with a cardigan over it, but, I prefer wearing dresses because they are more comfortable. In the mornings, I really enjoy having a little bit of extra time in my silky robe while I have my morning coffee and listen to a podcast or two. House slippers/shoes are a must, espe…

4k is pre-kindergarten for 4 year olds. It used to be not as common, but there has been a huge push recently for every 4 year old to be in some form of pre-kindergarten class. The class schedule is not rigorous as some kids only go 3 days a week. Grade 6 is brutal. All I can remember is the smell...half of them don't know about deodorant/don't feel like they need to wear it!

Not currently a teacher, but was a certified substitute teacher (have my bachelor's degree just not in education) in 4k through 5th grades and high school history and English. I loved every minute of those six months before I got promoted to an IT resource for students and staff. I really miss working in schools. It's so much fun and there's something really nice about being a positive role model for kids who might not have one. My two favorite grades were 4k and 3rd. 4k kids are really sweet ye…

Really powerful article, especially the section on liberation. I've never really heard of anyone posing the question of what it means to be sexual liberated. I had a dark period of my life when I was a sophomore in college, and my friends were heavily pressuring me to be like them and to be "sexually liberated" and date around. I never felt so rotten in my life. There is nothing sexually liberating about constantly worrying about whether the guy you hooked up with will call you for another date …

We are about to take a romantic long weekend trip as a belated Valentine's Day. Last week was fantastic and I'm finding that keeping a relationship goal in mind is really having a positive impact on my relationship. Every day I'm feeling a much deeper love for my SO and have been on cloud 9 the past few weeks. Since he's been really busy with work (just earned a promotion!) we haven't been able to spend much time with each other the past few weeks...safe to say I'm ready to pounce! I've also bee…

Excellent point! I really wish OP would show up in the comments to give more information on what is going on. Perhaps they just had a fight and she posted without cooling down a bit. I'm going to be frank and I hope you don't take this the wrong way. Girl, it sounds like he's keeping you around because it's convienent for him. It's time to move on from him. You mentioned that you're a patient woman, and he is clearly taking advantage of that. Repeat after me: I am not in a healthy relationship. Because this post had so many red flags. I'm getting a little inkling that the details of the issue may be the tip of the iceberg. Guys like this won't change no matter how hard you, …

I would add something about trash talking about your husband with friends or constantly trying to change little habits he might have. Great list! I think it would be really cool if the sub did a throw back Thursday thing and would pull a few oldies but goodies from the archives. :)

As the pictures and footage surfaced, it became clear that the feminism of the Women’s March was a grotesque caricature of its origins. This was not Susan B. Anthony’s party. What were once ERA picket lines, became cries of “Free Palestine.” What was once the 1979 Iranian protest by women against hijabs, became American-flag hijabs on placards hoisted high. It was “pussyhats” and the c-word and abortion on demand and female genitalia on our faces. How egalitarian! I think this article is quite i…

My political affiliation is right of center, but I try to approach every issue with an open mind while thinking critically. I'd would never have an abortion myself and I would never tell another person what to do with their business. I think late term abortions are horrible and probably cause psychological issues in women. I think that hormonal birth control and IUDs should be extremely low cost and available to anyone who wants them. Of course it should be allowed if the woman was raped, her he…

I use my toaster oven almost everyday. If you don't have ones that will fit already, pick up some small pans and trays that will fit in it. I use my loaf pan, small baking tray, and 9x9 weekly. They also make 6in cast iron pans which are great for making all sorts of stuff like roasted veggies. I freeze extra cookie dough and will bake cookies 6 at a time instead of making big batches. I also love to use it for broiling, because it seems much easier to control than using the big oven. Edit: Adde…

AMEN! It seems like in the US (I've had completely different experience when living in Europe), everyone treats sex and love like you're still in high school. It's all so superficial and vulgar. In the past few years, its seemed to be getting really bad and hypersexualized. Almost like a caricature. HAHAH! LOOK AT ME! I"M AT A PROTEST OR JUST HANGING OUT WITH MY FRIENDS TAKING SELFIES! DILDOS! PENISES! HAHAHA! It's crazy comparing interviews with ladies like Dita VonTeese or Audrey Tuatou on sex…

I love sharing my hobbies and am excited when people get interested and want to learn. I'm just hoping this is just a fad that passes by with time...like tribal tattoos or putting mustaches on everything.

Which is pretty funny, because the same people are always like, "I don't care if people judge me for not shaving my legs/being too outspoken/yadda yadda yadda", but oooooh my, liking to do something that the majority of people consider normal is terrifying and you need to put up a shield. It's a lot more work to get attention for the quality of work than it is being obnoxious.

Is anyone else getting sick of a lot of traditionally feminine hobbies getting saturated with "let's be edgy and make a cross stitch of a vagina?" Or cut out cookies of penises? Ok, I get it, you're trying to be funny and quirky, but you're trying too hard and looking like an idiot.

I think there are so many ways to show love or appreciation or just to show you care, sometimes it's things you do naturally and sometimes you need to work on it hard. I agree! Especially if his love languages are different than your own, heck, you can have the same love language but just express it in slightly different ways based on personal preferences. For instance, he grew up in a household where his mom baked daily, but the house was cluttered. My mom only baked a few times a month, but th…

I always make dinner one of his favorites and no based on what the kids want. "He's the breadwinner... he should enjoy it". Really great idea! Do you have the kids eat the same meal or do you make a separate dish for them? Growing up, my parents made my sister and I have the same thing as them for dinner, however, I do know several people who make different dishes because the kids are picky eaters.

Many women in my family would treat men's wild dreams like they were children out of touch with reality, and that is actually quite disrespectful. Such a shame so many women do this. There is nothing quite like seeing his face light up when talking about something he's passionate about whether is about a project he's working on or how he still wants to be an astronaut. Why would anyone want to try and take that away?

What I am saying is that men tend to follow women’s lead. Your husband’s actions are more often than not reactions. He’s reacting to something you said or did, or to something you didn’t say or didn’t do. He’s reacting to your moods, your gestures, your inflections and your tone. That’s how men are. Your husband wants you to be happy, and when he sees it isn’t working he thinks he’s failed. That’s when he acts out. This is exactly why being a GOLF is so important. Being positive and keeping thin…

I'm grateful for the new r/femininenotfeminist sub. It's one of my new favorite happy places on Reddit, and I think it has huge potential to help a lot of women.
