Most likely. Which is why I said my position was somewhat unfair. Like i said, I'm uncertain how to go about this. I agree it's placing undue burden on men that women don't experience. But practically speaking, I don't know how to reconcile 'financial abortion' with the overall happiness and flourishing of the child 🤷‍♂️.

Yes. I know, and the only reason I don't think that practise should be banned because without it infantificide was at a peak. Women were literally throwing their babies in dumpsters. It sucks, but practically and realistically I can't think of any other way that would ensure an overall peak possible flourishing for a child.

Personally, i think i go a bit against the grain here. I agree with the other comments that a women should have full freedom for abortion. Not because of bodily autonomy but rather because I don't consider the fetus a 'person'. But after birth, it's literally a child. So i dont think men should be allowed to 'financially abort' at that stage either. Because they're not affecting a clump of cells but an actual living breathing human child. It sounds unfair, and maybe it is, but I think out of the…

What even is this point? "But women!" Ok...? It's not that, I think. Rather that an unfair expectation is placed on Bear for being a guy. One most of us have experienced. And one we didn't ask for. And it feels slightly insulting to label Bear as a coward for that. Keep in mind, I'm specifically talking about how the film presumes Bear must be the catalyst and the one who must ask Nikki out. While no similar onus is placed on Nikki. The director themselves have said that Nikki had feelings for B…

Ehhh. Kinda. I see conscription as a class issue more than a gender issue. Like, a harm can disproportionately affect a single gender but still not quiet be a gender issue. Another example of this is the Epstein case, which I also think is a class issue and not a gender issue. But regardless, for the sake of the argument, let's assume all your points correct in the best faith possible. I still think woman have a worse hand in Pakistan. Yeah, men are expected to be the primary Labour providers, b…

Irrelevant, since the conversation is specifically about Pakistan. Y'know, the country with child brides, honor killing, marital rape, femicide and all that jazz.

I mean, am I wrong? Do you genuinely think men have it harder than woman in Pakistan? EDIT: No response huh. Thought as much.

Eh. I'm more concerned with the practical aspect of things. So many leftists didn't vote for Kamala cause she failed their 'purity testing'. Same happened with Joe Biden. Look at popular online leftist figures. People like hasanabi who openly said they're not voting blue and instead voting third party. That's my main concern. Young men can hate feminism all they want, but literally the worst democratic government is better than Trump.

Genuinely. Hitler could rise up and run for the primaries but if he promises to always vote blue I'm keeping my mouth shut. The Trump regime has made me desperate.

Nah I hard disagree. As someone born and raised in Pakistan and now in the states, the difference is wild. Misandry is basically toothless in Pakistan, while misogyny is actively harming the entire society. The commenters are right. In Pakistan, there is no comparison between misogyny and misandry. Women have it infinitely harder.

Know what? I'll take it. Situation so grim rn that if people who protect for men issues do it in a roundabout way, I'll settle for it. We take what we can get.

Agree to disagree then mate. I understand I'm committing the bandwagon fallacy but it's a big ask to excuse pop feminism as not a major face when it's literally all that is seen. Like, you mentioned bell hooks. I love that woman and one of my favorite pieces of literature is the will to change. Literally what made me leave the manospehere one and for all. But can you honestly tell me most of the online self proclaimed feminists have read her works? Or even understood it? I don't know, maybe it's…

Oh no. I clearly understood what you meant. After your reply. I'm sorry if my response wasn't clear. I'm just saying in pop cultural and social media nuance isn't really all that important. Slogans work. And something like "toxic masculinity" or "performative male" or "man vs bear" or "not all men but always a man" are very very popular and common. All I'm saying is that 'feminism' as it exists now in culture is more about assigning blame and retribution than anything actually constructive. I'm …

Thanks for the very detailed reply. It gave me a lot to think about. I'm curious, do you think the term toxic masculinity has done more harm than good? The way i see it is, patriarchy exists. Gender norms and roles exists. Internalised sexisms exist. And our goal should be destructuring them. Frankly, and i think you'd agree, feminism has a horrible sales pitch. We can both agree that academically it's very nuanced. But the average joe (joedette?) who considers themself a feminist has barely rea…

Appreciate the write up but you would agree that the reason the terms are used and remain popular is due to rhetoric right? In general discourse toxic masculinity is almost always used as a moral label. In that case wouldn't it be more effective to label it as internalised misandy? It's all semantics of course but it matters. It would shift the 'blame' (even though in an ideal world there wouldn't be any blame at all) from the individual to the societal norms. The reason it's not being altered o…

Sure. I'm pretty active in MRA discords and other redpill spaces. I like and enjoy talking to young men and helping them out. Trying to deradacalize them since i myself used to be very blackpilled before someone else lend a helping hand. Often I've encountered teenagers who turn to the Tate brothers or Coach Redpill because they dislike how certain feminist villify all men. The man vs bear thing as en example. This is what I mean. They let their hate move them towards something that you and I bo…

I more or less don't want to argue about the rest of your passage. Since i don't think it's worth it splitting hair on that. But this particular comment i disagree with vehemently. The bigger point is that feminism is anti male at its core, no matter what "strain" you engage with, no matter what way you try to approach it. "Men have oppressed women since time immemorial and continue to do so today in ways great and small, in thought word and deed" is a core aspect of their way of thinking. It po…

I don't think of it as 'joining forces'. As an example I belive patriarchy exists. I belive that due to societal norms men are expected to be chasers in a relationship while women are expected to be passive receivers. I can think this is bad and support and endorse movements that aim to rectify this without wholly agreeing or supporting every other idea of those in that movement. Aka feminism. If most of the scientists tomorrow started calling me slurs I wouldn't dismiss science because of it. I…

If you think women were given a bad hand in history, due to which they still suffer in certain sectors of life you're a feminist. It's like if you belive in Allah you're a Muslim. You might disagree on how to worship your god with certain Muslims, but that doesn’t make you a non Muslim. Same is with feminism. I agree with the core idea. I even endorse and support some of the goals and plans they have outlined. But I don't necessarily agree with all of them or think that they're the correct path …

Because i don't form my opinions based on what other people think of me. I do it based on what i think is right. And there are certain feminist principles and goals that I align with, ergo I'm a feminist while being an egalitarian. Feminism is not a monolith. I can easily disagree with some, even most, of it. While endorsing other parts of it.

I personally think it's absurd to back down on your principles simply because of what others say. I can understand why you'd do it. But it's weak. Some feminists calling me 'not a real feminist' because I'm a guy, does in no way impact the reality of the situation. They're in the wrong, obviously. Both for their biases and their assumptions. But I'd be in the wrong too if i let peer pressure affect my own principles and go full manospehere in retaliation.

Just ignoring what I said about r/askfeminists to harp more. Love it. I’m sorry you don’t understand speaking in scopes, I'm sorry you don't understand making broad strokes on nuance matters is retarded. We don't do that with black people and crime statistics. Or lesbians and domestic violence. Nuance is a thing. I’m not gonna bring conversations of race into ones explicitly about gender. There’s space for intersectionalism, but bringing in race or sexual orientation when the conversation is abo…

Speaking from the perspective of a male feminist who is active on Reddit: don’t get your views on feminists from the weirdos of reddit. It’d be similar to coming to this sub with the presumption that MGTOWs are a reflection of all men. This is just unequivocally untrue. Inceldom, MGTOW, Blackpill/Redpill are all online movements. And were judged by their online communities. Why shouldn't feminism? It's like the no true Scotsmen fallacy. Like, do you remember this post https://www.reddit.com/r/As…

It's just bad research. Like the scale they made is fine. It does what needs to be done. Even the pilot study and data analysis are very good. But idk why they have so many normatively loaded assertions for no reason, lol. It's a research paper, not a tumblr blog. They should have just split the research into BSS scale and a literature review/ meta analysis.

Yup. Most circumcised guys will gaslight themselves into saying "it's not an big deal". Because if they admit that it's a big deal they think it somehow makes them less of a man. Hopefully male genital mutilation will be eventually made archaic. But idk how long that will take with it being now a familial "tradition". Not to mention certain religions outright demanding it(Islam & Judasim)

It's a stupid viewpoint. Me not being strictly pro choice doesn't mean I don't understand why they're saying it. In pro choice, there is no "child" being harmed. Yes, you can opt out of motherhood, but it's at no cost to the child since the child doesn't exist. The hodgepodge OP cooked up clearly has a child IRL that is being actively deprived of his right for a father.
/r/MensRights09/07/25 10:26 AM

You can't "opt out" of fatherhood. It's a responsibility that you're saddled with, for the child's sake. This is a pro-choice argument, and you're arguing against it... Yeah, I mean, I'm not strictly pro-choice either.

Lol what. That just fucks over the child then lmao. I don't think we should be advocating for there to be more deadbeat dads.

My bad. The hyperlink didn't appear in your original comment for me in the reddit app. Wouldn't you agree? 100%. It still feels a bit weird since common convention claims women are more likely to be victims of sexual coercion, but I'm not gonna argue against facts and research. You got any other studies? I didn't realise there was such a huge discrepancy.

It's how all mens safe spaces go. Starts out with well meaning guys trying to prop themselves up. Devolves into misogyny, self-pity, nihilism and inceldom. it's actually really sad.

I'm sorry are you for real? You think men have a higher chance of being victims to sexual violence than women?
/r/MensRights01/07/25 07:13 PM

The sliding scale of risk from casual sex goes from 1- poor women 2- rich women 3-poor men 4- rich men It's wild that you'd suggest anything otherwise. Rich men have the advantage of being both a male (significantly less risk of rape/assault) and rich (golden parachute).

Cool. Would you rather lose half your wealth or be raped and assaulted? Possibly killed? Sex, especially casual one night stand, is much much more riskier for women.
/r/MensRights01/07/25 12:43 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
