My main point in the wise words of FDS is "if they wanted to, they could". Privacy is dead and it's dependent on how willing the government is going to try and since it's a one year process I thought they'd try a little but it seems like most people think they're just being their good Ole bureaucratic selves and pushing papers back and forth for a year

USA is part of the Five Eyes and will get any info they want from VPN companies. Most VPN providers keep logs of connections and you have no way of auditing their policies ("Just trust me bro"). VPNs weren't designed with anonymity of consumers in mind. They were just built as peer to peer connections for businesses. Have you mostly worked in big companies rather than startups? I know most times the pay difference is too much but it might make you feel more rewarded and less stressed. Do you have a goal motivating you at least like money for a house or a FIRE goal?

Ah okay. I hear the manager roles in software/IT have as high of a burnout as IC developers. What's keeping you there for now? Is it RSUs or the work feels rewarding, but just too much now? I'm probably gonna stay on the developer side for a long time but I could see myself going towards some management-like roles like a solutions architect

I'm gonna bite. It's shameful if you try and fail when you have people depending on you. There's a reason it's mostly single guys or guys with funds to fall back on that start businesses. They aren't letting people down because they either have no one or they still have some money to support loved ones

Any pussies here who grew a pair later on in life? I'm 22 and I don't advocate for myself enough. I was prepared to roll over and pay $100 to replace a FOB key (after my leasing office said it would cost that much) from normal wear and tear that was less than a year at my apartment instead of making the property owner pay for my replacement. I think I'm going to start taking all of my life advice from PPD. I went climbing today and had a blast. Gonna be doing that multiple times a week. Meeting people there is actually doable and people are nice. Life is good

Climbing 101 booked! Are there any good road trip locations near Dallas? I took a Houston+Galveston trip which was pretty good. Houston seemed pretty dalipidated but Galveston and seeing all the oil refineries was interesting. I'm thinking of doing an Austin/Waco (on the way, but might not have much tbh) trip

Thanks for writing this out, I didn't know there is a 101 class at Summit. I went there last week with a friend and enjoyed it a lot. My legs are sore now from it and my friend didn't like it as much as I did so I was planning on going on my own and this 101 class sounds perfect for me. Maybe I haven't gone to the right parks around here, but they weren't very scenic compared to trails I biked along the Appalachian mountains. I'm mentally off. I had anger issues as a kid that made me do things I regretted so I became depressed that I couldn't trust myself. It's been 8 years now and I don't have anger issues anymore but the depression hasn't left. This is on me and maybe therapy will help. I've tried meditation but my mind holds grudges.
