No, don’t go off grid. What you’re describing there is depression, my dude. And that’s a totally natural feeling to have at this point in the process. Schedule some time to talk to a pro about it. Re: that alimony - don’t see why in the world you should agree to pay out for 20 years, past when your kid is 18. If your lawyer can’t make that argument then it’s time to find a new lawyer.

That’s exactly right. It’s maybe dark or whatever, but focus on what you can control. At the end of the day, what’s most important is that you come out of this with a sense of identity. Build identity. And she’ll either latch on to that (be aware of what’s very one sided and what’s truly love) or she won’t. Either way, you come out on the other side with clarity of self which is hot and loving and awesome. Good luck to you man

Thanks. I did not want it but I wanted to support my wife. The way I’d characterize it is that I have clarity about how single life would be but not clear about what staying married would be like, and the wife is the opposite: little clarity about single life and supposed clarity about staying together. Tbh there is no perfect answer here. I’ve been feeling that stay or go, I’ll never feel 100% with any decision. Therefore the only way to go is the direction that makes me feel like a better pers…

Similar issues here, but different situation. What I’ve been focusing on is my needs. That’s been the biggest thing for me that I’ve lost touch with over the years. Spend some time digging into what you want. Separation is good for that (surprised myself by the value I’ve gotten out of it). But yeah, it’s over my dude. Sorry.
