'Because reasons' is the comprehensive answer to this question. The detailed one? They are like that for the same reason you are you—the many complex interactions of their environment, their nature, and the people they interact with. It's not really an answer that will get you anywhere, but it will tell you where you are.

The problem with aligning yourself with any faction is that people on the outside lose the chance to distinguish which views you do and don't agree with within it.

I meant that men can complain about getting complimented and not getting complemented, because they aren't experiencing the same things.

actually they can and still do. Statistics are a result, not the basis of individual interactions. Some people just have different experiences, and there's not much we can do about it.

It makes you sound detatched from the issue, as if you were discussing a seperate species or maybe a classification of rocks. It's not dehumanizing in and of itself, people just get the impression that you use it to reduce them to their physical attributes and disregard literally every other facet of being human.

I used to be on this side of the argument too, but then I realized that nothing is stopping you guys from making your own movement and not hijacking someone else's. People forget that progress ain't a pie, you aren't limited to the few mainstream agendas going around rn.

Nah. We'd never get off in bed, though being friends would be awesome. Finally someone who's willing to ponder the plotholes of the universe with me!

Finally a non-controversial post I can agree with. Edit: Nvm I sorted by controversial apparently this still counts. Imma just put out my thoughts on the subject, gonna say that everyone needs to stop thinking that statistics or opinions can define who you are as a person. In statistics, the individual is lost and in opinions, the facts are hand-picked. We'd all be better off accepting that no matter what statistic you believe in, you're gonna meet all kinds of people from different walks of lif…

Holy fuck that was a heavy rollercoaster of emotions. I don't know whether to be scared, disgusted, or just plain disappointed in humanity. The sad thing is, I can't even refute those claims. It just lines up too well with some of the sht I've seen.

Speaking as if you're spitting facts doesn't make them facts. Not to bring you down, bud, but a lot of people on this subreddit would love to differ. I appreciate that you're speaking your mind, but this spiel doesn't really do anything for me. Really hope that this works for someone else tho.

The first three don't really sound like the men are losing anything, the women are just gaining better treatment. It's just the same, except they are getting treated better now. the last one tho, that's... confusing? I mean, it seems like they just evened the playing field. I was never really a fan of using the law to enforce relationships anyway.

The difference is that you can't control your height but your weight can be through certain methods. Neither of those things are good reasons to not date someone, but it's a perfectly valid retort. It'd be petty, but petty is called petty because you didn't throw the first stone. BTW, I'm neither overweight nor particularly tall, so I have no experience with either perspectives.

To be fair that seems more like a fault on the male's part than anything. I'm perfectly fine with someone having high standards, it's people with low standards saying that everyone should do the same that bothers me.

Meh, different strokes for different folks. Some people are a lot more sexually liberated than the norm. Sex ain't a bad thing. Humanity is just having a lot of debate regarding where the boundaries should lie and where it's okay to stand.

Let's just say that there is what there is, and there's what you do about it. for what it's worth, I'm all for people not judging their worth by what society tells them to, but by what they value. I figure that pursuit of self-fulfillment and self-indulgence is the key to living well.

I'd change nothing in all honesty. As long as he's not doing anything illegal I can't really justify overruling his beliefs with mine. He's the one that's going to suffer for it, and I'd always be there if he wanted to change or consult me. I never want to make any of my children feel like I'm not someone they can trust to give them the benefit of the doubt. The most I'll tolerate is violence, otherwise you do you.

In my, admitedly limited, experience people just want you to respond similarly. If they're a prude, you don't bring up stuff like sex and whatever they're sensitive about. If they're insensitive, you map out what's ok and what isn't. It's not really about omitting stuff, it's about using different parts of your whole according to the situation. For example, I can be a b*tch about deadlines when it's important. Otherwise I'm pretty chill about timeframes. I'm both strict and lazy depending on wha…

At almost every step I could hear a straw man argument pop up and subsequently get beaten back down. More arguments will likely pop up, but for the moment we have cleared away the noise and can respectfully face the issues underneath the fighting. Nicely done.

Let's just say that I'm more concerned with the skin while hunting and the heart while dating. If you're looking for sex? 75/100 chance I'd go for it but if you've got a good face the body barely matters beyond not having a micropenis. If you're looking for love tho there's an invisible barrier to entry that even I can't see so idk how I'm supposed to tell you how to scale it. My biggest crush is this dumbass from highschool, barely met the criteria for face or bod and so far from my standards t…

I'm assuming I don't qualify(what with my gay ass being male) but my two cents here is I basically look at their style. I take a few glances but overall I make an effort to not be creepy in doing so. I get that some people aren't comfortable being ogled like that and I keep my thoughts to myself. My country being what it is, I hope that they never come over cuz 9 times out of 10 it's likely just trouble. Also, highlights in a glance include arms, chest, face and hair. After all of that, the bulg…

yeah, I am not posting what I just wrote. This subreddit gets me way too antagonistic for anyone's taste, including my own. People, just stop assuming that you know what the other sex is thinking, going through, or regularly does, because you don't. It's not necessarily that any of your examples are false, more that you keep saying that one side doesn't do this and the other side doesn't do that. Lemme put this into perspective. 7,000,000,000 people on this rock, and you can't imagine a single o…

Yea idk how to articulate what I was gonna say so I'm just going to be blunt. All love is conditional, but that doesn't mean it's worth anything less than what you thought it was worth. That same love still makes a parent raise a child, a friend stay loyal to a friend, and keeps families together. Even when it's really twisted and pretty much unacceptable to society's standards as of present. We can debate all we want about what love is acceptable and what love isn't, but regardless Lin-Manuel M…

Well, she did specify the world "suddenly". I'd interpret that as "I'm open to dating but nothing more if you don't intend to be part of my children's life".

I mean, be honest. Why shouldn't he talk about it? It's not like it's saying anything that harms single mothers. It ain't inciting violence, it's just pointing out a trend that OP noticed.

Honestly, it confuses me when people dress to be sexy. Like, I get that it's hot af, but isn't the point of clothing protection from the elements and comfort? If you feel good looking attractive, good for you! Still not getting it though. Maybe it's just me. I generally just dress to feel like I'm not constantly embarrassing myself in public.

I don't have any experience with this that involves a non-violent resolution. In my experience, something always breaks. Either someone begrudgingly cleans up after themselves or someone else gives up on cleaning entirely and just lets the other party do whatever they want. My family is full of stubborn asses, if you couldn't tell.
