Wow, that is powerful poetic and oh so rings a bell. Enter that in a Readers Digest contest or something.

Oh, so true so true. Was just with one, she worked herself into her own dark stormy corner. Me the guy, sitting back watching remaining steady, waiting for the rain to clear just to see on her own she was emotionally packed and the girls are outside with the car door open. Me, saying is this an adult or an 8-year old? Oyye

Divorce mediator and professional here, i often say wat h your attorney like you are wat hing your ex. They can be a cold tough crew to deal with. If you have the agreement set and all you are doing is submitting the application to the court for it to process and set you up with a date with the judge, you are all but done. With my clients I take the agreement paperwork and submit it for them to keep things simple and I bill an hour or two depending if they want me to drop it off or mail it. If t…

I never thought I’d be here. Years ago I was in the middle of a brutal split — broke, terrified, and honestly worried I might lose my kids. The process was worse than I could have imagined: court battles, miscommunication, endless conflict. It nearly broke me. But I got through it. And the experience left me so stunned at how broken the system can be, that I made a pivot in my career. Now I work as a Parenting Coordinator with high-conflict families — helping parents lower stress, actually follo…

Tough one and understandable, dreams broken, familiarity lost, betrayal etc. Usually when a woman leaves the relationship that’s a big sign something was really wrong and it’s harder to recover. Trust can be rebuilt though. For me, and I help people recover from affairs, I would be curious when how and what got in the way for you both in the relationship and especially for your wife. Is any of it realistically changeable and are you both up for the challenge? If so, I would want to know why? An …

A professional who has worked with many hundred people navigating divorce, look at it like it is a business transaction. If you feel you could work with an unbiased informative mediator and make reasonable decisions for yourself that’s all you need. If you don’t then a lawyer is a smart move. Just be very careful with who you choose, how much they typically charge, watch how much they charge and call them on discrepancies, how long they take to respond to client communications.

My experience, I wouldn’t trust myself to find the best lawyer as I have had and hVe seen so many really poor situations. Meaning either they just charge and charge you, they don’t have a decent game plan when things get complex, they usually lack all sense of timeliness or accountability. How does one find the best lawyer?

She sounds manipulative. I am curious her intentions for sharing her feelings with you. If she is venting yet accepting of the situation then ok. But if she is trying to influence you then she has boundary issues. Watch out

Took me many years to have a real chance at a relationship. It’s hard. Personally I had to face trauma from the toxic relationship, I wasn’t making a lot of money, and caught Lyme. Thoughts: What would it take for you to be in the right place mentally emotionally physically? Have you looked at trauma either from your childhood (this is likely what the issue is) and or the relationship? Are you taking care of yourself with your daily habits? Helpful?

Oh lolol then mine is extremely regretful. Baaahaa 12 years and she still does not/ will not leave it alone! She even has a new live in boyfriend (I had hoped it would get better with that—nope). She seems to enjoy covertly being toxic to our relationship and aggressively needling and disregarding our agreement.

(Full disclosure: I am a Divorce Coach and m Divorce Mediator). Go wisely. What’s the value of your happiness and is divorce the answer? Figure out what is realistic costs and kids wise first. If it is worth it then pay. And to save money and see your kids (your the male) negotiate as much as possible on your own. Be calm and play the process smart emotionally. Avoid the huge conflict…Find a good mediator and counselor professional to keep the stress and costs down for your whole family. Happy t…

A friend would say, just give her 75% of everything now, all the pussy and get the divorce out of the way. ;). Kidding of course

This right here is likely a best answer. (Make sure you are aligning with her around most if not all your top 5-7 core relationship values. If you are not then think real hard. Too I suggest to my clients get the pre-nup. See if you can include now in an agreement it is believed both parents will have 50/50 custody with a divorce. Make that clear and up front. Too, make sure to be upfront with her around the house whatever you do. Don’t lie because that will never ever work. Maybe set it up now …

Someone said that earlier and I agree, for me I know my ex will never change and falling for the nice parts again would just lead to another suicide.

Really helpful you shared this sctually. I may be the target and therefore saving my children that role... — Once a manipulator gas lighter removes the co-parent i thought they looked for another adult (ie boyfriends girlfriends). Makes sense they may too go after a child.

Largely agree, and i definitely agree avoid sharing emotion. Sharing Emotion and pointing fingers with lawyers is like chumming the waters for sharks. They are usually hard people and trained to look past distrsctions. My ex is manipulative and gaslights too. If i went back to the beginning of my pc experience i would share almost nothing and i would stay cool (of which unfortunately neither did i do). Let the pc figure it out. PS if i were a lawyer i would share my top twenty tips for communica…
