Really tired of the single-dad-bashingAll I can recommend is having an open mind that you might be wrong, and discussing it with your therapist. Especially around what you saw in childhood / your parents to make you believe that all women hate men. You’ve got a belief that it’s true and that makes it true. Even if you are seeing it in person, remember that we surround ourselves with the familiar. Even when it’s negative. It’s why victims of abuse end up with another abuser the next time around. You “randomly found” a 4y old post to … | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/07/25 06:56 PM
Really tired of the single-dad-bashingGet out of that mindset man. It’s not hard being in California. It’s arguably easier than anywhere else. You’re falling into a similar social media echo chamber to your ex. I’m a single dad in California and had zero issue both being a fuckboy for a year, and then finding an amazing partner. You’ll be fine. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/07/25 06:30 PM
Really tired of the single-dad-bashingI get it man. My ex fell into a misandrist social media rabbit hole as well. If you hunt around you’ll find plenty of examples, and yes, likely increasing in frequency. But it is the vast minority of women. It just feels more common because you’re hyper-aware of it due to your ex. There are tons of women out there looking for the positives of a masculine presence. Who want to build something more than the sum of its parts. Who don’t secretly hate men. When I was dating I wrote out all my criteri… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/07/25 08:46 PM
Did anyone's wife get in trouble for misrepresenting things to the courtShe lied about her income to get more child support. My lawyers subpoenaed her bank statements and I had to piece together her actual income from that. No real repercussions. She just didn’t get the support amount she was asking for. I’m still the bad guy for not paying what she initially demanded. Made me realize I’ve been way too honest and there are no reasons not to lie. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/04/25 11:58 PM
Toxic Wife, Paternal FraudPeople will suggest letting it go I’m sure, especially since he’s an adult. I personally would want to know if my dad wasn’t my biological dad. Solely from a medical history perspective. But I would suggest not doing it out of anger. You have plenty of time to do it later. Do it once the divorce is done and you can genuinely say you’re doing it out of your son’s best interest, not just to get back at your ex | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/04/25 09:32 PM
Did any of you find it impossible to ask her to do…anything?I was dying, and I had a kid in the back seat. I needed help, not more problems. I want a relationship where people treat each other well, not one where I’m playing tit for tat. I got out of that trainwreck and I’m not lamenting it. I’m acknowledging my part in creating that dynamic so I can avoid it in the future. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/04/25 01:07 AM
Did any of you find it impossible to ask her to do…anything?Absolutely. We normalized this treatment along the way though. Because it’s not like the treehouse was ever getting built without us. I realized a lot of this was caused by me not setting and enforcing boundaries about how I would tolerate being treated. Not that it would have solved my problem - I picked a person who wouldn’t have been able to handle that - but I would have saved myself many years of doubt and suffering. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/04/25 02:27 AM
Did any of you find it impossible to ask her to do…anything?I think about this a lot. I was always a very independent person. I found a partner that fit with that. I showed my love with acts of service, but they became expected. So we ended up in a terrible dynamic where I was expected to do everything and whenever I asked for something it was some massive breach. I remember being so sick I could barely breathe. I drove to the pharmacy and couldn’t get out to pick up my script for an inhaler. So I asked my wife to get out of the car and get it. She was s… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/04/25 07:04 PM
Curious if anyone was aching for or really looking forward to get divorced and found that is was harder than they imagined it would beNot looking forward to it per se but I was unhappy and I initiated it. And sure, the fight and the battle was (and still is) harder than I imagined. But all the things I thought would be hard - being alone, dating, getting laid, improving myself - have been way easier than I expected. More importantly, the sense of freedom I have now, the free time, the weight off my shoulders of a crumbling relationship, the negativity out of my life, has made it all worth it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/04/25 03:37 AM
What Is Behind the Trend of Women Initiating Breakups and Divorces? This is 100% the cause. Before marriage, breakups are initiated at equal rates between men and women. After marriage, 75% women. In my case, I initiated the separation but my ex wanted money so pushed the filing through as quickly as possible. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/02/25 07:53 PM
Dating after divorceI assume it depends on your age, but someone’s gotta give a positive opinion. For me it’s been easy and awesome. The bar for quality men is so low. If you’re in ok shape, can hold a conversation, and have your life reasonably together then you’ll kill it. Start doing the work on yourself so you can hit the ground running. I’ve met so many awesome people, made some great friends, learned a ton about myself, and gotten laid more in the last year than I did in the previous 5 | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/01/25 03:06 AM
Wife wants M-F, I want 50/50. How to get her to agree?Agreed on most points, but in most states you’ll still be paying CS at 50/50 if there’s a difference in income. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/12/24 05:35 PM
Ex-wife wants me to not dateTerrible idea. That can take years. Dating post separation is totally fine. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/24 02:13 AM
$400 an hour$750 an hour for the primary. $600 an hour for the secondary. They both are on every call. I pushed so hard for a mediator but my ex decided we’re fighting, so I went with the best. Fuck I hope it’s worth it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/08/24 07:24 PM
Is your new girlfriend way better than your ex wife?If my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle. We can’t change the past. All that matters is the choices we make today. If I wanted a healthy happy relationship between birth parents for my kids, I would’ve needed to pick a better partner, and then my kids wouldn’t exist. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/08/24 07:24 PM
Is your new girlfriend way better than your ex wife?Strongly disagree that it’s never a win for the kids. My kids will now get the chance to see what a healthy relationship looks like. Where the woman is attracted to the man and doesn’t recoil from touch. Where responsibilities are evenly split. Where people discuss emotions instead shutting down or yelling. Where there is mutual respect. We subconsciously emulate the one relationship we saw in depth - our parents. I might have just saved my kids from a life of bad relationships of their own beca… | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/08/24 03:31 AM
