I'm trying! Most days I do but some days it is hard. I spent 90 minutes in my yard feeding my little chipmunk friend. He takes my blues away. Thanks for your input. Have a great Saturday 😁

Bro, get the fuck outta there! That's my only advice. They cheat once, they'll do it again. Same with lying. This shit will haunt you forever if you stay, even if she starts fucking you weekly.

Mine suggested we look at some porn one night, while in the midst of 🍑🍆 and I said no. She asked why. I said for one of us to go get our device, open up pornhub or whatever site and then have that in hand while trying to be intimate... no thanks. Rather be in the moment. Then she asked how I knew about such things. Like who doesn't? Well that knowledge of mine came back in my face a few times. Nothing to do with our separation but shows how completely whacked my eventual EX is. I have a shirt th…

What all the others are saying. Stop. Disconnect from her. Move on. And put the bottle down.

I wish there wasn't a one year waiting period here in Ontario, Canada. We're 4 months in. She initiated this all. Now I just cannot wait to get it all over with and go on with my life without her. My emotions go up and down but really I just feel stuck right now as I wait for this chapter of my life to end.

I'm finding the loneliness to be a little bothersome and I am rather introverted. I put myself all into this relationship and eventually a marriage, rarely going out with my friends, especially as her and I made new couples friends. I am trying to turn this around for myself, and hope it will get better once we sell the house later in the year and we aren't living under the same roof. I won't date or even hang out with women right now as I prefer to keep my life uncomplicated and also don't want…

My wife's birthday was 2 weeks ago. She said no acknowledgement, no gifts. Note, we are being amicable. I got her a $25 gift card from the drug store she's always at for beauty supplies, a bag of her favorite potato chips and a little round helium balloon that said HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Just real simple, no romance. Oh, and I put it from our pets, 2 cats and 1 budgie. She did thank me, said I didn't have to. I said it wasn't me, it was from the cats and the bird. I'm definitely not trying to woo her b…

We tried couples therapy and it was uneventful. The counselor was way too nice, didn't press any buttons, issues, questions. It was like meeting a friend every other Saturday for almost 5 months. Her and I agreed it was not changing anything. Thankfully our benefits through work covered this. The weird thing is my wife said we both know things that we should do. She dropped her end in mere weeks. I never stopped on my end.

I thought we'd be okay after 22 years together. We both had some crappy things done to us by past partners. So to be as we were, honest and appreciative of what we had, rarely an argument, having so much in common and talking about retiring by 60. She just turned 57 and with this split, I'm not sure how she plans on still retiring. I know I won't be able to. Well, to be honest, I'm not looking that far down the road. I just need to navigate out of this mess first. She's got some health issues an…

Mine dropped that bomb last September. Then for the next 5 months treated me like a daisy flower, pulling my petals. I love him. I love him not. Back and forth. Then one Saturday I have my tongue in her ass and the next Saturday she's done with us as a couple... yet she doesn't want us to move apart. Total head and heart fuckery. Nothing makes sense. We're in our mid 50's and everyone says this is menopause insanity. I don't suspect there's another guy but after all this time, I really don't car…

I'm not a tech person at all. What AI thing are you guys using? I'm on an Android, if that makes any difference. My coworker uses that chatgtp or whatever. He gets high and argues with it, says it's contradicting, etc. To be a fly on the wall in his house. Haha!

I'm agreeing with you here. I've got a lot to deal with internally, plus still living under the same roof as well. So I know I'm not ready for much other than maybe a new friend. I need peace and an uncomplicated existence. I got some wild flack for that. I should add that I am 56, while not exactly old, I'm definitely more mature than who I was. Of course my 26 or 36 year old self would argue with me about my current decisions in life. 😆

Mine wants us to do that and I want no part of it. I will never feel free being under the same roof. I'll still be victim to her tantrums and negativity, like when she throws the remote across the room because Netflix or whatever won't load. I wouldn't be interested in dating a divorced woman who still lives with her ex-husband. For me it is a lot about keeping my life uncomplicated.

I had hopes with mine. Now I cannot wait until it is over and I will never see or speak to her again. We have no children so it will be easy. She thinks our two cats will keep us connected. She's fucking delusional.

Thank you for sharing. I try to remind myself about many years prior I was with someone for 10 years, not married, but I wanted to. She wasn't ready for that. I was saving to buy a house and she had no interest in responsibility even at nearing the age of 30. She said that I got boring. No more blowing pay cheques on liquor and 8 balls and putting as much as I could in the bank every week. So our relationship dissolved over the next 8 months. It crushed me. I quickly jumped back into dating with…

Interesting how the counselor would do private sessions with her while you were away. Ours would not do this without permission from both husband and wife prior.

I agree about the social media part 💯 Mine has often compared us to others because of the stupid shit they post on Facebook, openly loving their significant other. One high school friend is a bipolar sex addict who has hit 5 of his past g/f and really did some facial damage to his ex wife which put him in jail for one year. We had a bit of a reunion a few months ago and his current lady even spoke up at the table about he spends hours in the basement watching porn and jacking off numerous times …

She's the one who wants the separation. Well, third time now since last September. This time it is really happening as I told her this roller coaster ride is over. Separate sleeping areas. Finances all separated and we just split the bills. A lawyer involved too.

I hate that I don't look forward to weekends these days. I hate that work has become more of a happy/safe place. I find myself taking the long way home some nights, cranking tunes in the car and not thinking so much. We aren't fighting but I just don't call that house a home now.

My eventually EX has hers in June. We had booked a few days off to go away, this was before she said she wanted us to separate. She's going away with her bestie and said I could still take the time too. Fuck that! I pondered a little keep the peace birthday token but I doubt I will bother. For my birthday last September, well right before, was her first "I want to separate" bomb which she retracted two months later.

You'll never be free, physically or emotionally. But then again, your situation sounds very new, so this exclusive fuck buds thing may pass.

Mine has some digestive issues too and not everything went down when she flushed. So I'd lift the lid and... oh boy, look at that! The Who has a song called Pictures of Lily and I changed it to Pieces of >insert wife's name<... I can't listen to that song now. Haha! I appreciate you keeping in the spirit of this post. There's a lot of sad and depressing posts. We're all going through shit or have gone through it. We need to laugh at some of the nonsense and insanity that we went through.

I'm in the early stages and concern a bit about that lonely bit too. I do volunteer at a few places but as a driver so I don't interact too much. It works with my work schedule as inside volunteer work is 4 hour shifts which is hard to commit to when working full-time. We have so many mutual friends and it will be interesting to see how that plays out. We aren't fighting but it'll either be team husband or team wife I think. The few who are aware were her friends first but I got along so well wi…

Mine moved into the basement so I don't have to worry about that. It had to be done as a part of the separation process. I'd leave but she couldn't take care of the house. Also I'd rather save for who knows what may be coming in the months ahead instead of paying someone to rent some space.

I'm hoping so for you too man! Mine makes stuff up, forgets things, has selective hearing, needs to be seen and heard, and craves attention. She hates that women give me attention right in front of her; but I don't think they're all flirting, although she says I'm oblivious. She'll whine that men don't hit on her anymore. I don't seek attention and brush it off as I am a devoted husband even if she's put on 60 lbs since we met. I've maintained my weight all these years, remain active and don't e…

Me neither. All I want is peace in my life. I don't get much of that at work so having it at home is a must... it sucks that it isn't happening right now.

She asked for us to try it out. We both have benefits through work so it didn't cost us any money.

We tried couples therapy and it was a waste of time. Therapist was super nice but didn't do anything. It was like socializing with a friendly acquaintance. After 10 sessions I said this isn't helping. The last one was 60 minutes of her talking. I said "hello" and "goodbye". The counselor didn't even try to stop her and get my input. She was just nonstop.

Sounds a lot like my situation. Counseling didn't work as she never followed through on putting in any extra effort. She sees her own counselor now and got real pissy when that one sided with me, giving me praise for my efforts. Hopefully mine isn't cheating while we phase this out but who knows. We both agree to keep things mature, respectful, amicable... but saying we will and doing so are two different things. I know I will because I have no desire for drama at all. My peace is very important…

I was going to say something similar. Take the time out to like/love yourself again. I figured that out after breaking up with a long time girl in my 20's. Now, after 22 years with someone including almost 14 years married... I need to remind myself of this as we are in the early stages. I'm 56 now so things will be a lot different than 30 years ago.

I agree. My wife and I tried counseling and it went no where. All about her. The last 1 hour session I got to say "hello" and "goodbye" to the counselor. I told her it isn't working after 5 months, 10 visits approx. Waste of time. We have coverage so it didn't cost us anything. She sees a counselor on her own which makes her happy as it's all about her. She had a bit of a fit after one of her sessions when the counselor actually gave me some praise for what I do for her. Apparently I'm not the m…
