that means something either societal or genetic. I think it's genetic, I don't know. There was certainly a major societal aspect decades ago, but after all that EU govts have done + my own anecdotal experiences I'm not so sure about the societal part anymore. I think men and women are just drawn to different things. Unfortunately what women prefer tends to pay a lot less.

The adjusted pay gap ranges between 1 and 6% in Europe. It's 2% in my country which does match women's lower willingness to negotiate salaries. Women do gravitate towards lower paying fields but whose fault is that really? Most european countries are doing everything they can to inject more women into male-dominated fields, women just don't want to study compsci for example.
