Why should someone young enough to still have classmates at school date with intent? Girls and young women either just want to have fun or genuinely think the boy giving them butterflies would be the perfect husband. Sometimes it works out. Other times they get older and a bit more experienced (some might call it jaded) and start avoiding red flags and adjusting their picker. A man cheating or a divorce have been historically far more common than societal collapse. A recession could hit and society could fall apart and I could lose my job and be financially fucked, sure, regardless of marital status. But adding the financial dependence on the husband is choosing to add even more risk to my life. Dependance on any one thing is dangerous, whether that's a job or a man. As I said, if in your hypothetical I'm somehow financially safe, I pick the husband.

I'm an introverted homebody with only a couple friends who all live far away, and I'm pretty happy with the situation, so I think I could thrive in that situation. It really depends (surely this is true almost anywhere). I have family and friends in Spain for whom 150 barely registers and others for whom it would be stressful to part with that much all at once.
