I wasn’t talking about only existing. That’s impossible. Everyone is just existing. Sex is also VERY different from attention. I’m talking about an ugly guy approaching you and you don’t want it. Not about this guy having non consensual sex after you reject him in the interaction.

It becomes a material thing. Non consensual physical touch is bad. But non consensual sex is 100x times as bad because sex contains intentionality other kinds of touch don’t. So non consensual sex is not only about the material violation but a violation of the mind because it disrespects the intentionality around sex. If you remove the intentionality yourself, then it becomes as bad as other things but not 100x worse. And since it’s not as bad, you’re creating an incentive to more uninvited inte…

In fact, it does. Attention is something you bring to yourself. If you make yourself the center of attention, everyone’s going to look at you by definition. That’s what attention means. If you decide to walk naked on the street that will catch everyone’s attention. Not only from the people you want. You can’t say the logic is unfair because sex is special either, because with your actions you demonstrated you don’t associate special intentionality with sex. Good people attract other people based…

You caught you guys is one thing. Saying that’s the standard opinion people have is different. It’s not. The standard opinion is pretending you’re someone you’re not is manipulative.

The logic is simple. Any consistent behavior is ok. They just don’t want you to change or pretend to change your behavior for him. Because that’s manipulative. Anything else is a matter of choice.

What makes good surgery good is that there's no way to tell. If there's no way to tell, no one is going to complain. Same for makeup. Many women wear makeup in a way that's easy to tell. He probably thinks arranged marriages are people being forced to marry other random people. In fact, it’s more about your family, with more experience and your best interests in mind, helping you to vet candidates.

Where did you read that? Why would a coherent tribe allow that? Or after families became the main unit of the tribe, why would a family allow that? The incentive systems would have been broken. History wasn’t like stone cave men cartoons. That’s a caricature for comic purposes only. The cognitive revolution was 50000 years ago and monogamy with families are from 30000 years ago. The problem is you never know if waiting is her usual behavior. You can wait for 6 months and take another 6 months to figure it wasn’t her usual behavior. Then it’s a weird situation where you wouldn’t be with that person if you knew the truth but still painful to break up after a long time of accumulated memories. One common solution is filtering anyone who makes you wait more than a week, but then you’d filtering out a lot of good people. Another solution is self improvement, fixing a scarcit…

It's not something you can't do. It's just something that won't make you more attractive. It's something nice to the relationship, it could be useful in a friendship, but it's not something that justifies a _romantic_ relationship when men have their own money. At best, you're mixing the assets and having a huge headache. It's not seen as something that doesn't make you a golddigger either because it's not. You could make $X and still look for someone who makes $2X and propose a bad deal to them…

To an extent, maybe yes. They’re already doing it by not marrying. But it’s hard because many women won’t marry anyway, if it all changed overnight there aren’t enough good women for all good men anyway, it’s not something we’ll see in our lifetime, and focusing too much on solutions that are not available at an individual level is unhealthy. For now, learning to be OK without a long term partner and optimizing for the rare case where a viable candidate comes along are still better options.

Everyone can break free of gender norms at a price. Everyone who thinks they broke free are just being delusional. If you think women are more delusional, just let them. They’ll pay the price anyway in terms of loneliness or by being with a much lower value men than they could. You don’t have to save her. This doesn’t affect men at all. At worst, you would be single. The incentives are still there. Men expect gender norms from women and vice versa. And they’re both right. As more and more people are delusional about these norms, and there’s skin in the game they just decide a long term relationship is not worth it, more people are lonely, fertility rates are down, more divorces happen, social security goes bankrupt, and so on. Because culture incentivizes people to be delusional and this delusion doesn’t match the reality of biological incentive systems. If …

Because men assume other men can take it and not be offended. So it’s not treating like shit. Good male friends mock each other but also help each other when they are in need. In the male mindset none of that counts as being treated like shit. In the male worldview, indifference is what’s associated with being treated like shit. Or, for friends, not being there when you need. The mocking is basically a test to see if you’ll be able to count on that person later on. Men who get offended easily ar…

That’s true. Men see women as better, if both are providing the same thing. Not as equals. Men and women are not equals. Otherwise none of these discussions would even exist. They’re only equal in terms of dignity. They’re biologically different though. That’s why we have different words for them. I never seen in my life anyone here say they’re just around to trash women so I can’t comment on that.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 06:51 PM

Yes. Men treat other men as equals who can defend themselves. You have to be clear about being a woman if you want to maintain the privilege of not being treated like men.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/24 04:23 PM

They ask the same question almost everyday, get the same answer, and don’t accept the answer. And it’s such an obvious answer. If you think someone is a good partner long term and you found that person with whom you have a fulfilling life and a family, you obviously won’t throw that away. But they don’t accept the answer because what they want is a rationale for why it’s not worth being a good partner, which is what they want to do anyway.

Fertility is not a myth, and attractive men go for desirable women even if they don't know what "the wall" means.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/24 07:16 PM
2

I don't think any ideology would claim you can't cherry-pick some counterexamples. It refutes nothing. I strongly doubt more powerful and wealthy people behave much differently. I've seen that they use this power to get what most people want but can't—for instance, Leonardo DiCaprio. But even if the rich behave differently on an average that only includes them, this is pretty much useless information for someone who's not rich or has different goals.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/24 07:15 PM
2

Yes, it's very different. That should apply to men and women as long as the other party is doing their due diligence. What counts is the intentionality behind your actions, not the actions per se. People care about "baggage" because it reveals how the person sees the world, especially regarding everything being transactional. If you haven't processed that "baggage," you still see things this way, making you a worse partner. If you spent this time studying and becoming a better person instead of …

The hypocrisy thing. You said that if someone slept around in the past, they can’t have different values now and they have to fuck off. That makes no sense to me. People can improve. If a woman did something bad in the past, it makes no sense to tell her she needs to look for someone who did something equally bad so she’s not a hypocrite. That makes no sense to me.

So people can’t change? Like some woman can’t have casual sex, then stop seeing things this way at some point in life, and start seeing things differently? If someone who wouldn’t be with her is now ok with it because she changed how she sees things, what’s the problem? What if some virgin man is ok with it even though he didn’t do it? What if she values the modest men because that’s what she now wishes she had done? Why do we have to keep punishing her? And now that she sees things differently,…

Risk of getting into a romantic relationship based on a thing the other see as material and transactional and passing those values to your children. And all the usual utilitarian disadvantages everyone knows come with that. Your comment about seeing good and bad sex so materialistically proves the point perfectly. There’s no hypocrisy in an agreement between two people. You can either accept what the other party is offering or don’t. If both people offer the same, it’s much worse. It’s not “hypocritical” but now is nonsensical. If women cared more about modesty the way men do, men would start behaving better immediately. And they should care for their own sake. But they just don’t.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/12/24 05:51 PM

Some people care, some people don’t, and some people are ok being single so it doesn’t matter who cares and who doesn’t. In any case, it does reduce your pool of opportunities because you have whatever you would have minus the people who care.

Unless you’re unbelievably stupid and can’t even talk properly, once the other person idealized you, it’s mostly up to the halo effect that comes with more concrete things. The introvert can become “mysterious”. The inconvenient one can become the “life of the party”. The boring one becomes humble. The lack of attention becomes confidence. And so on.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/24 01:41 AM

To be honest, anyone can cook. I don’t even see that as a traditional female gender role. Cooking is maybe just something nice you do for your partner. And some expectation that emerges when one of the partners stays home because it’s more financially rational. I never met a man who expected that and made that part of their standards. From my experience, no one cares about that unless the partner is too lazy to work and doesn’t even want to help around the house. If both people work, you can jus…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/24 05:30 PM

Maybe that’s true for some women. In my experience, if a man has his life together, is handsome (mostly correlated to health and muscles to a healthy extent), and is intelligent, he’ll have much more success with any kind of woman. To the point that denying it seems delusional. And these are just the stereotypical male gender roles, which is having the ability to guide (intelligence), provide (having his life together), and protect (handsome + muscles). Maybe you’re lucky and found the one who d…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/24 05:23 PM

The whole complaint is usually that they don’t contribute with their “gender roles” and still expect the man to pay for things and all other masculine gender norms. You’re just defining things differently. But if you found people who are different, then go for it.

Mocking and hating are entirely different, even if the mocking offends your sensibilities. You usually hate someone who bothers you. People mock losers all the time for no explicit reason. Open TikTok, and you'll see people mocking others for whatever reason. Or think of high school. That has nothing to do with any ideology or pills or whatever. Mocking may not be nice, but hate is not the same. People pretend they don't understand the difference because they expect bonus points when it's hate.

So they do it for fun and badly evaluated expectation of commitment. Or for whatever other reason. Incentives still broken. OP still correct. If women are happy/unhappy with the outcome because they’re smart/not smart is irrelevant to the discussion.

What I see is the opposite. “Stop hating single moms” without the word “hate” had not been used.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/24 02:16 AM

If they don’t care about it but do it anyway for whatever reason, the incentive system is broken anyway and OP is not refuted. /r/PurplePillDebate04/12/24 12:40 AM

Yes. At one level of analysis, that's true. It's also true that there are clear biological motivations for women's and men's preferences, and men offer these options because casual sex is low-risk/high-reward for men and high-risk/low-reward for women. Interpreting high-risk/low-reward opportunities as some win is like celebrating losing money on the stock market because you took advantage of all the bad opportunities you have to buy terrible companies. /r/PurplePillDebate03/12/24 03:23 AM

You can make a comment about most women while still looking for a woman that’s not like most woman. No contradiction here.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/24 01:20 AM

Yes. Both things are true. Most people don’t learn at all, even if the lesson comes from their own experience. Everyone knows about the way sex is surrounded by morals issues and decide to just ignore it and accept the cognitive dissonance. Same for in other areas of life. Sad but true. They just make things harder for other people who need to vet them.

I would said that’s not a gendered issue. But it’s not even an issue about dating. Bad experiences are useful if you can learn from them. If you learn without needing the bad experience that’s even better.

There’s this stereotype that lesbians meet and in two weeks they’re living together. I’m not sure this would be enough to explain their high divorce rates. Between living together and marrying, there’s a ton of time to vet the other person. And the stereotype is probably an exaggeration anyway.

There could be a meta question about that. Why worry about people who worry about people? The problem is not so much high standards because you can't make decisions based on hypotheticals. Regardless of the standards, men and women look at their best options, and most conclude that being single is better than being with the best they can find because the best they find is not enough to improve their lives to justify the commitment. And that's the case because the incentive system is simply broken.

Are you ok being the second, third or 10th best to the person you married for the rest of your life? Whatever justify the relationship for you, you’re x-th best in that regard in their eyes? I don’t mind not being the best for casual relationships. But I don’t see how that can justify a marriage. I’m not looking for a provider. Beauty fades with time.

It’s not that they have to be assholes. They’re just allowed to be assholes if they want to because of all the optionality. There’s also a good chance the woman will retroactively reinterpret that facts as some kind of manipulation or love bombing even if no promises were made. It’s also not that he has to be better, but it’s likely that he is because women will have much more optionality for casual sex than for commitment. But I think more traditional stable families in rich countries have better results too. Children are much more likely to succeed. In the long run, they’ll be the only ones leaving descendants. In the short run, these children are more successful and the couples are typically wealthier and happier. The comparison between countries is kind of silly because being so worried about maximizing promiscuity as a virtue is a huge deviation from the norm throughout history and among most countries to this…

It depends on how you measure it (GDP or fertility rates) or how you imply causation (“trad” countries caused less quality of life or more quality of life caused less need for people to be “trad”). A good way to find an answer is to compare how people with the same quality of life decide to have traditional relationships and families or not.

I think attraction in the context of incentive systems can’t be seen as a fixed concept because all relationships are trade offs rather than a binary choice between what I find perfect or not perfect for me. For instance, let’s say my main goal for marriage is having children. If the government subsidizes this is some form without me depending on a wife for that, suddenly many previously viable options become not attractive enough. The problem is not that I was being forced to be with people I w…

The only data you give to compare men and women directly has a higher value of 79% for men. Also, your title is about the norm (meaning 50 percentile) but the second article is about the behavior of the 95th percentile. Of course women will have more sexual partners there. If both decide they'll have as much sex as possible, it’s just much easier for women.

This might be a factor, but it's not gendered or the most critical factor. The why is often more important than the fact itself. For instance, if a man or a woman is a virgin because they tried hard to have sex but couldn't, that's one thing. If they are virgins on purpose because of the way they see the world, even though they have options, that's a different thing. You arrive at entirely different conclusions about the person. Women and females of all species have more optionality in terms of …

That’s not going to change. Most women, even if open to casual sex, expect something in return for doing it with that person in terms of attraction, resources, time, loyalty, etc… Even if she’s as promiscuous as one can be, she still has to choose one person to have sex with that day. This is a cultural thing and most cultures don’t care that much about it. My guess is the reason they care about it in places where modern dating / polygamy is the norm is because people get hurt and end up making terrible generalizations about the other gender to justify their own bad behavior. Ending up in any relationship or having had sex at least once are not admirable goals men have. They want to feel loved in a way they can justify romance and therefore the relationship. Being able to achieve sex with a lot of effort and investing everything they have when no one else had to invest anything is a net negative. It’s worse than being alone. Sex by itself is very cheap.

> We're damned if we do, damned if we don't I don't think that's such a conflict. Once you assume people are different, you just have to decide if you want to please sociopaths or people without mental health issues. When looking for serious relationships, most men without mental health issues want modest women or at least won't actively value promiscuity. They're looking for a person with values. Not a promiscuous acrobat.

I've seen people say they don't care about modesty, although I find it rare because they usually change their minds when you ask about lower and lower levels of modesty. I've seen people who say they don't care about modesty for short-term relationships. This is obvious because the lack of modesty often allowed the relationship to happen. I’m not saying self-perception is disconnected from reality. The way reality has influenced a person who attached their self-esteem to that is so obvious not worth discussing. This is already at a second dialectical level. The original question was about value. Not about self-value. You made it clear it’s only about self-value and I made a comment about it. Of course it can be about self-value. You can make anything about self-value even if it’s objectively false as a form of value.

Interesting. I honestly don’t know much about individual states. Thank you. Yes. The prize thing is more in the context of different criteria for different men. Most men I know are completely OK with it when they know the criteria for waiting is the same for everyone. In this case, it’s just a choice. For instance, one person wants to wait until marriage and the other doesn’t. That’s an incompatibility but nothing to worry about in terms of self esteem or being used or anything.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/24 06:06 PM

Exactly. It’s generally safe to assume nothing. There are three ways this problem is solved: chastity on both parts as it’s been recommended in human history until 5 minutes ago, then you wait until marriage or at least only commit a sin after there’s been a lot of clear investment from both parts; or the men makes huge investments and commitments in terms of time and resources, which is common when 80% of women say they wouldn’t date “down” and have the power to do so in terms of supply and dem…

Yes. It probably becomes more likely in some circumstances by people who are already bad and are looking for a target. They’re wrong, it’s not their right, but it makes you slightly more likely to be a target of these wrong things by bad people when they do happen. It has nothing to do with justifying the action. The issue of likelihood of a wrong action is independent from the issue of whether their action is right or wrong. I think looking as this as the rationale to decide whether to be promi…

Well… that’s part of the reply. You obviously have a right to not be assaulted just like you have a right to not have your house robbed. That says nothing about the meaning of your actions and whether they’re a good idea. The fact you have rights doesn’t mean not locking your house doesn’t make your house less safe and it doesn’t mean there might not be circumstances under your probability of being assaulted is higher. And none of that means good people would become bad people. It’s always the s…

This last paragraph is a great way to summarize how promiscuity changes the meaning of your actions. When you accept someone, you’ll never know why that is because acceptance no longer communicates that much. And that’s not enough to convince many people to make a huge investment where two become one.

It’s weird that this question is even asked. The inicial part of the advice sounds like just basic common sense to me. The part that mixes rights and expectations is the only thing I would find controversial. And I assume you’re not paraphrasing her here. Of course people have to respect everyone else’s boundaries. Even “loose” women tend to not be “loose” to everyone, there’s at least some hedonistic criteria, and that’s a boundary. But making everyone wait for sex and only one person wait for …
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/24 12:06 AM

This assumes natural selection is fast and independent from the choices people make. It’s not. Different cultures create different incentives systems that are more or less successful. And culture comes from discussions. And discussions come from people’s motivations. People being angry and making decisions about it is part of natural selection. Telling people not to care because selection will work anyway doesn’t make sense because people caring and the way they care is part of the selection pro…

The idea of any person came from the combination of “men are walking away from marriage” and the obvious fact that the reason they’re walking away is they find the willing partners they find as not good enough for marriage. Otherwise, they would be married already almost by definition. The idea that they’re finding willing partners they find good enough for marriage and not marrying then is absurd because if they don’t propose in this situation, by definition, their revealed preference is that t…

That’s true but getting married to any person won’t fix it. A bad marriage will just leave the kinds without a two-parent household. And it’s even worse because now you lose access to the children. If you can’t live on a single income, you’re unlikely to find or walk away from a partner when you find one anyway. It’s usually men who can already live on a single income who can find partners more easily and are walking away more because those are the ones for which the marriage contract becomes le…

The theory is not that you want to commit to a less attractive guy. By definition, not requiring things gives you more options than not requiring things. So the theory is that the less commitment you require, the more attractive guy you can get. For both men and women. So it follows that the most attractive guys will have more options than they can commit to so only a few women will get commitment from these men. Other women will only be able to find commitment from less attractive options than …

The problem with that approach is that it pretends that there will be no bias in the 0.1% who are susceptible to this kind of approach. The reason only 0.1% respond to that has to make you question what trait they have to see value in this kind of approach where no value is provided. It’s not just a numbers game. These 0.1% see things in a way the other 99.9% don’t, and that will affect any future relationship unequally.

I think most people will say it depends on the reason more than the fact.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 02:03 PM

I’ve seen kind of the opposite in this thread. The typical argument is that all men behaved like pigs for centuries (which I don’t see a lot of evidence anyway and find almost impossible) and because of that it’s positive that women to now behave like pigs, exercising this right is virtuous, and men shouldn’t be able to have an opinion on modesty at all because their grandgrandgrandfathers were supposedly having sex with prostitutes every other day.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 05:59 AM

The typical assumption is that some degree (how much depends on who’s judging) of modesty is a good thing regardless. (I’m just saying. Not trying to convince you. Please don’t shoot the messenger.)
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 05:23 AM

I’m not randomly complaining men can’t do that. It don’t even see that as an “advantage”. I was just stating a fact because the previous comment assumed the opposite was the case. I don’t agree with that view of the past either (since it’s going way beyond the point). I looked for good evidence of that many times and couldn’t find any.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 03:28 AM

I clicked all these links and all I found is that prostitution existed. No shit. In which of these sources do I find evidence for the claim that prostitution not only existed (everyone knows that) and not only curious facts related to it (which sure exist) but evidence that it was widely available to all men to the scale the original comment claimed it to be?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 02:06 AM

Yes. Correct. If you're too poor to have children, then it's not sustainable, no matter how monogamous you are. Having some amount of money is a necessary (and rather obvious) but not sufficient criterion.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 02:02 AM
1

Again, I'm not denying prostitution existed. I'm denying it's impossible that it existed at a scale that would support the other claims you guys want to believe about men in the past. It can't exist on such a scale because if average sexual modesty was even higher by then, the supply can only exist if it's constrained (it won't be available to many people) or at a very high price (and then people can't afford it). That's the point I've been made and I've seen nothing that refutes that.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/08/24 06:00 PM

I never said it wasn't. That's the point. The article assumes I think it's much more than five to tell me it's less than I think. If anything, the data they provided scared me because I didn't think it was that bad in college. A minor point: It's not the "vast majority" either. If 5 is the median, it means 50% of people are equal to or below 5. By definition, a "vast" majority should be way above 50%.

I don't have to guess. We have the precise histogram. (The image assumes "you" at the median) In any case, that's unrelated to the article's lack of reliability. To make it reliable, it would have to independently access how much people estimate it to be and then compare the data. For instance, it's often used to say it's less than I expected, but I expected it to be much less than it claims to be. If anything, it had the opposite effect. And even if it did that analysis properly, it would mean …

But you mentioned you have historical evidence. What historical evidence you have of the large scale of this thing? How many prostitutes in proportion of society were there to serve all these men? A large proportion of society would need to be prostitutes. How much did they charge and could they afford that? I assume it was expensive since sex elsewhere was rare. It’s doesn’t add up.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/08/24 04:31 AM

There are no markets operating here. If your new family model doesn’t work the government takes money from well structured families by force to bail you out, generating a cycle of below replacement fertility rates.

That’s kind of ambiguous. For instance, “85 percent of young people prefer other options to hooking up, such as spending time with friends or having sex in a serious relationship”. It’s not how that works. It’s not about attraction. Older women can still be very attractive anyway. It’s more about the “baggage”. If she got married to him young, she’ll have just as little baggage when she’s older plus they have a history and a family together. I’m not justifying or defending any of it. For men, romance is what justifies any serious relationship. The expectation is he already needs a higher income in most cases and sex is much more easily available in other ways. Most men I know started out very romantic and “learned” from women they had to stop doing that.

If they don't, that means they made bad decisions in the past and are making bad decisions now. one wrong decision and it’s game over Not game over at all. They can make as many bad decisions and betabux is around the corner. Don't worry. She won't be alone. The narrative around here is that it's even wrong for men to evaluate women according to any criteria. So men, when talking to each other, exchange advice on how to prot…

There are other models but sure. Whatever non monogamic system you come up with, people who control access to sex (mostly women and top X% men) will “tilt” the distribution in their “favor”. The less monogamic, the less even is the distribution. (Assuming that’s even a problem.)
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/24 02:31 PM

What solves the “inequality” problem is monogamy: not self improvement. That doesn’t mean self improvement is pointless at all, because 1) picking up women is a terrible goal in terms of motivation and 2) it was never meant to be a solution to a social issue.

I find it weird than anyone would complain about anyone else getting old. There’s nothing the other person can do. I’ve seen men complain that women try to trick men when they get older as they’re doing the transition from alphafux to betabux. But never seen anyone complain about the aging process itself. After you get married, your husband won’t starting liking you because you aged. Men value things that correlate with age more than the age. If you got married, unless you cheat on him, you stil…

Many of the premises are wrong. Not finding older women desirable and complaining about women’s age are very different things. People don’t complain about people they don’t find attractive. At most, the feeling is indifference. Being attracted to things that correlate with age also doesn’t mean the person is not attracted to anything else. Same for men not worrying too much about your income. If you’re really intelligent (as in literally having a high IQ) that’s a pro for most people, I would as…

You know the 80/20 proportion is just a “metaphor”, right? The thing is a Pareto distribution but the proportion is not 80/20. And the situations you listed would affect the proportion for sure. Case 4 has a much more even proportion than case 1.

Not a contradiction at all. They find it hard to get into a relationship with a girl they want: not _any_ relationship. Most people find it easy to get into a relationship they don't see benefiting them. Not having a relationship with a person who is not the person he wants a relationship with is not a contradiction at all. Thus, it's not a contradiction to reject a relationship with any woman with attributes that make her not desirable to him, such as (potentially) the ones you listed. Also, mo…

Why isn't it women vilifying men for having sex and men internalizing misandry? If it's all about material things and power, it would make much more sense for men to tell women to have _more_ sex, not _less_. Women with two neurons, on the other hand, might not want to see the value of sex go down socially.

This group is very repetitive, so it's easy to see the patterns. The most common argument is it's going to be "icky." The second most common argument is that there's some power imbalance, but the justifications are very poor. Even if they were both excellent arguments, the fact that the person bothers so much that they have to vent with random strangers on the internet is what's kind of "icky" to me.

These statistics aren't possible unless you have a significant amount of women dating men that are a few years older than them on average. It is possible because they could be sharing the same men. The evidence for that is that women dating older men would mean fewer older single men, but that's not what happens. Somehow, more women are dating than men of all age ranges. Not really. Love makes the transaction cheaper, but both will always be there in any lasting relationship. Love is when you put the other person on your scale of values. The only difference you could mention is quantitative. It's correct, but it does not change the principles. Most attractive older men never have a problem with that, and most ugly older men will have a problem with it. That's all there is to it. If you look good, the topic won't even come up. There’s nothing about it that mandates that aren’t allowed to enjoy it. Not enjoying it is independent from the previous argument about it being access to your body. If this is morally neutral, it would be stupid not to accept the money.

100% sure. Just vet men who want to be serious by much they invest and you’ll be fine. Once they romanticize and idealize the relationship, there’s no going back unless you break the idealization (turn out to be promiscuous later on).

I see no rational or emotional reason for any men to do any of that. Even psychopaths. Just vet the men you meet for his intentions (if that’s what you want) and you’ll be fine. Women who do that is the kind of women most men are looking for and can’t find anyway.

I don’t think so. The pair bonding stuff is weird. I would say men pair bond much more than women and usually have a much more difficult time moving on. These same features are not desirable in women. Female models are usually tall and have well-defined facial features. Also, men and women look best at an athletic body fat percentage with a reasonable amount of muscle. At most, because of supply and demand, some women can pull it off and not become virgins like their male equivalents would.

Practicality has to be evaluated after attraction. If attraction doesn't come first, you should work on it because you don't want to be in another position. To be clear, that's not to say you have to aim at 10/10s and try to be 10/10s. But please be sure to take care of yourself. You could change all the other adjectives as much as you want and I would still find them equivalent.

Boycotting is not the proper term here. Many but not all just prefer younger women, but that’s one among many other factors and I never seen it be a deal breaker. Also there’s no cartel where all men are trying to do it at once. So it’s not boycotting. It’s just a common thing they see as a pro because of fertility and things correlated to it.

Unless all you want is casual sex forever, it's impossible to fix OLD. You could even try to match personality traits but fundamental shared values go way beyond that into much more concrete things that are much easier to find in your social circle if you have one. If you don't have one, get one.

In this study, what was the minimum level of physical attractiveness for other things to matter? Edit: I found the answer: Unattractive men are doomed, but moderately attractive men surpass attractive men when they have "respectful traits." For reference, attractive men had "pleasing disposition, ambitious, intelligent" traits in condition 2 and "friendly, dependable, mature" traits in condition 6. Being able to surpass attractive men makes sense because attractiveness, like anything else, has d…

No. It's OK to be afraid of men and people in general. I'm a man and fearful of much bigger men in conditions where I couldn't defend myself, or other people wouldn't be able to help, such as a dark alley. People, in general, shouldn't put themselves in a position where they can't defend themselves or get help. This part is not really about blaming the victim or blaming anyone. It's just about trying not to be a victim because being a victim is not good. Even more, people can hurt you nonphysica…

You're right. You just made me think about it. They do want relationships, but they want entirely different kinds of relationships. Because it might not be worth it otherwise, even if being alone is the alternative. If women fulfill a “traditional” role (whatever that means) usually the man is paying more and she’s giving back in terms of her role, which supposedly he can’t fulfill himself. But if they’re equal in terms of their roles, there’s nothing unique she’s giving back to justify him giving more back. Yes, I agree. If anything, the fact that she doesn't have any money makes her more likely to cheat because the money any other man "promises" her looks way more attractive now that she doesn't have any. But is it a common trait in male psychology or just a characteristic of some males? I'm intrigued because this is the first time I've encountered this discussion. Interestingly, my current sample of two males disagrees with this. 😂 I hope my girl brings something to the table: money or anything.

Yes. I could see that. So basically to avoid jealousy. It seems to me like there are better ways to avoid that. Being mistaken for a teenager in your 30s seems rare because there are too many changes in your body during your teenage years. The closest I've seen were some women in their mid-20s being mistaken for teenagers in the 17-19 range if they're skinny. This is rarer with men because they keep developing muscles in their 20s. Boycotting is a bad idea because it doesn’t work at an individual level. Men should just look for women as decent as possible and learn to look and wait for that. Yes. I was replicating the term she used in the post. For whatever reason, the same conclusion would apply. Someone with a lot of muscle can have a fit body fat percentage and still look fatter than that, like a person with an average body fat percentage. And the reason is quite simple. Both men and women can cheat if there’s a huge difference in value. That’s all there is to it. The only other practical difference is that women concentrate more on the men they like, so these men have more options than both average women and men. So that makes it more common for men. That doesn’t mean most people can do it and even that there’s no effect on the relationship. Even if there’s a huge difference of value, this difference is now much smaller because there’s cheating going on.

I see. It seems like India is more like a mix of the secular and religious world. China seems to have made it in a completely secular way. Other Asians countries seem to be a mix. Japan became very similar to the US. South America is awful but I’m beginning to notice it’s much less worse than the US.

It’s basic supply and the demand. Besides all the obvious empirical evidence we had since the invention of this thing, if the relationship between the price of sex going down and there being more demand for sex is not obvious, I don’t know what to tell you. Again: mentioning examples of people who are not having sex is irrelevant. Just like saying “Apple are cheaper but I know a lot of people who didn’t eat an apple today” doesn’t refute supply and demand.

There being many reasons for women to be on it and not promoting promiscuity are two completely unrelated facts. The relationship with promiscuity is very obvious. The obvious fact that not 100% of people on birth control are having sex 100% of time has nothing to do with that relationship.

Great idea but sounds technically difficult if you don’t have a social circle of people who think similarly, and that seems hard to achieve outside church. It’s quite hard even in church actually. Exactly. No one ever asked “what’s the probability a younger woman would be disgusted” or anything like that. I hate women with low self esteem. They cais so many unnecessary problems and they’re usually doubting everything. On the other hand, I can see someone saying they like low “self esteem” if they inappropriately associate it with arrogance, being delusional about their SMV/RMV (being FWB for years in the hope he wants a relationship even though he made zero investment), or not believing she needs to contribute in the relationship (“I’m the table”).

Well, that would just be another contract. There’s no point in saying contract A is bad because contract B is bad and B is what people are doing in practice. This would be a meaningless verbal debate. Anthropologically, the reason for marriage is to give children stability. There was no marriage before then. Where did he say he’s not getting any action?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/24 02:28 PM

Maybe. It disrupts it at least in the sense that cheating might lead to a child from another dad coming to this family (the dad didn’t agree to pay for someone else’s kid) or another family would have this problem (the mum didn’t agree to marry a dad who now needs to support a child in another family). Emotional cheating is probably not enough reason though, or only in the sense that it might lead to the other kind of cheating.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/24 02:03 AM
2

Of course that can be true. It could even be true that kids would be in a more stable environment if the parents never got married. There’s no need for marriage if that’s the case. That’s the fault-based part of the contract. The contract would actually put the mum in a better position because it would be his fault.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/24 01:59 AM

Because marriage is a contract for the benefit of the children. The whole point is to purposefully get into a contract that’s difficult to leave so the kids have a stable environment. So it’s for their benefit. Not for the benefit of the couple let alone for “love” whatever that means. If you want a relationship for the benefit of the couple you can leave at any time with no fault, that already exists: it’s called not getting married. Exactly. In terms of intentionality, there’s no difference between 1 and 2, but 2 is way more common (because men have no incentive to just throw away free access to sex most of the time) and easier to rationalize (because time itself allows it to be retroactively reframed as if they were really trying to achieve something slightly meaningful here). Averages are useless for numbers of sex partners because that has a Pareto distribution. You have to look at the median. The studies also include numbers for age ranges, so polls including senior women is not a problem. At a societal level, it’s not unreasonable but it’s impossible as/if women earn more and more and have more and more education (that depends on your demographics). Wanting is free. Most men I know still want that. Even I do. But they don’t care that much and would rather be single than marry a woman with lower “RMV”, unlike they would accept it with sex. I hang around a few 9-10/10 men and a lot of 6-8/10 men. They could have sex with a 5/10 woman but would never have a relationship or get married to them.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/24 11:12 PM

Well, it your case I guess it just makes sense because you don’t engage in “casual” sex so that’s coherent. But I don’t think this generalizes to all women for the same reason.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/24 11:01 PM

Mmmm. I’m not sure everything else you said about relationships generalizes from sex. I don’t see men that desperate for relationships at all at least in my group of friends. Only very low value men would do that.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/24 10:58 PM

And I agree with that. Have always had. It actually blows my mind every time I see so many people here discussing casual sex precisely for this reason. But that doesn’t answer the rest of the sentence where I explain why I don’t think women really consider it to be such a useless power.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/24 10:50 PM

I think they only downplay how good the ability to have easier sex is. They’ll say something like “it’s just someone shoving his penis on you for 2 minutes” as if it’s not something that desirable, but at the same time many women still have a lot of casual sex voluntarily so it can’t be that bad at least when “alpha” is involved or whatever. If that weren’t the case, these pills wouldn’t even exist. Apart from that, I don’t think women have many other benefits. They’ll only get the other benefit…

You can believe women are hypergamous and still believe you’re the one they’ll choose if you work out properly. There’s no contraction at all there. You can spend time on the internet discussing these issues for fun or just because you think it might make your life slightly better. You don’t have to be strug…

At best this proves that not all women conflate RMV with SMV all the time. Not that women don’t generally conflate them. By talking to them it seems like they often conflate and it does have a huge emotional impact (baggage). It also makes her chances with men of the same value harder in the future. Most likely they just know the difference when it’s huge. Like a 3/10 woman with a 9/10 man who doesn’t even treat her nicely.

I’m failing to even see what the pro in the first option is. The first option liking me and supporting me is the least I would expect from someone so low value in comparison. That’s not even a thing. For the second option, it’s all great. Attractive and emotionally stable are always the main factors. Then she has good self esteem, which she should (and I would guess that self esteem is probably why she doesn’t have the same unresolved baggage). The only way I can see the 2nd option having any co…

This seems too anecdotal for the conclusion it’s trying to reach. Men suicide rates are much higher than women’s, but most people still don’t suicide no matter how bad their situation is. Many men are fine alone or even prefer it. I’m not even sure the suicide issue is mostly related to loneliness. If you ask me, I’d guess suicide rates are high because of how hard life can be sometimes at a survival level or concerning meaning much more than anything related relationships. So again, his only option would be changing. Also, it’s been decades since I last seen anyone recommend men should try hard to change their personality. Hypergamy is not only about money. In any case, considering money as a component of the equation, it’s easier for women to be hypergamic at these places. In poor places it’s common for most people to be poor while people with advanced degrees tend to make orders of magnitude what other people make because they always have the option to leave. The country being poor usually means the distribution of wealth is even worse. And it’s hard to “fix” that.

I think men can _potentially_ age better (meaning "look like he didn't age") than women because they can repose their testosterone almost indefinitely and take care of their skin, which already takes a bit longer to start losing collagen. Hormones don't work as well for women because testosterone is going to be a big change for them and other hormones might even make them age faster. However, in practice, women are probably going to age better than most men because they simply take better care o…

Women making the first move is not a strategy to help men be picked when they're shy. That's their problem. It's a strategy to help women have more optionality by also giving them the possibility of choosing a good partner who hasn't approached them. That makes things more not less competitive for men because women have even more optionality and therefore more opportunity to choose what they consider to be high value in their environment. And that's OK. I don't think anyone is lying about that. …

Yes. I don’t even think it’s a “system”. It’s more like just nature. Nature doesn’t really care if you pass on your genes. There’s no individual benefit to passing on your genes. It’s just an impulse nature has to evolve in males for things to make sense. But I wouldn’t call it a “system” either, because if you’re not willing to date at an acceptable loss someone who’s more willing to will pass on their genes and the cycle goes on anyway. And of course people will complain about it regardless of…

I did that many times. I didn't "worship" her because I reserve that to Gods. But I was nice to her, supported her however I could, helped her in her career, and all of that. Also always paid for everything. She didn't cheat on me but let's say she didn't return the favor at all and treated me poorly at times. I had to break up when I found out. I think most men would like to do that but many are afraid she's going to leave them or treat them badly if they put them too much on a pedestal.

Yes. That’s possible. It’s actually one problem of the sexual liberation many authors discussed half a century ago. People would never know if sex meant strong desire or just something they were doing just because. I don’t think you interpreted what people say correctly. Its not that the relationship is easier than sex. It’s easy to get a relationship once you’re having (casual) sex. They’re not independent things. So the problem becomes women who can get sex but not relationships from certain men and keep in this cycle forever. Then at some point they go after guys who will give them the relationship.

40% of men have noticeable hair loss by the age of 35. The height thing might depend a little on where you live but I concede 90% of men are above 5'5 in the US (if the Female Delusion Calculator) is correct. Still, these are only two factors that can make someone unattractive. For instance, if you want non-obese men above 5'5 who are not balding, then that's only 25% of men. But there are so many other things that make men unattractive.

I think this is quite simple. I’ll look for the best I can find because there’s nothing else I can do. If she makes my life better, I’ll keep her. If she makes my life worse, I’ll be single. If anything, the problem is not the idea that someone is settling. I think the interesting problem people discuss is the retroactive effects of a society where people feel like they have infinite optionality, many partners feel like they were settled for, and many people feel they could get something a littl…

I think people should be able to do whatever they want with their bodies. However, I'm pretty sure this ends up in some kind of contradiction or a self-defeating ideology. Because not ideas of what to do with your body are equally as good. We people who make good decisions this generation as likely to be the ones making decisions for society in the next generation and they'll probably impose some kind of moral constraint on sex.

They’re not saying they care. They’re saying the system is broken is showing evidence. When I say being obese is bad for your health I’m not saying I care at all about obese people. I’m not pretending I do. I’m just stating a fact. If anything they’re mocking these women, not saying they care. Also you were not watching “men”. You were watching channels run by specific men. Most men are not participating in these discussions.

That assumes older women would be more attracted to them. Not the case at all. If he’s fat and ugly, both young women and older women would be settling. Different reasons. But still settling.

You can have fear and still make attempts. It’s called courage. And when it works, the fear usually goes away. It’s hard to know if women like that the person had no fear or the underlying attributes that made the attempt work. And not fearing something is often a reason to not make attempts: if I don’t worry about ending up with a bad partner I might do nothing to make it happen. And all of that assumes fear is a choice, which is quite debatable. Fear is an emotional response to belief dictated…

What I mean by rational fear is that you could stop the fear, but the underlying problem would still be there. It’s not something that would magically solve with confidence or everyone would have figured this out already. And if removing the fear doesn’t solve the problem, fear is just an independent problem. It’s still a problem but not the underlying issue.

The premise seems false. I’m no alpha but I’m always the dumper. Last time I checked, women are usually the gatekeepers or sex and men are usually the gatekeepers of commitment.

Fear is a problem but not the dating problem people have if the fear is rational. The dating problem is real and the fear just comes with it. People with infinite optionality wouldn’t feel any of this fear.

I think this goes both ways. People feel bad when they can’t attract the opposite gender. It doesn’t mean that’s everything there is but it’s often there because you know you’ll be able to do that at least at some point of your life.

Not really. Men have standards but they're not the same criteria as women's standards. And men have standards for women for both short and long-term relationships, just like women do. Women will almost always look for someone more successful or at least as successful as themselves. So especially when women look for more successful men and find them, men always want something in return for that huge investment in a single person. Being successful takes a lot of time, energy, and risk, so it usual…

/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/24 01:50 PM

Yes. That lists assumes everything else being equal. In practice it’s always more about being “high-value” than looks. Missing one of the components of value makes you not a 10/10 regardless of your looks. From what you describe, the problems you have in other areas of your life are quite serious so you’re not a 10/10. If they were mild issues, maybe looks would compensate for that. But that doesn’t mean looks don’t matter or are less important. In other words, it’s like the normalized factors m…

It depends on the context. The data we have tends to show this happening around 30. But in this sub, this is always conflated with people having zero options, which is false for almost everyone. Second, this is only comparing people of the same age. Third, this is data from dating apps, which is quite different from real life. There are many posts here from both men and women that conflate the idea of getting able to find someone with the idea of finding the person they want or a person at least as high-value as they used to find. When people say men are lonely because a small proportion of men are getting all the sex, they don't mean other men will die virgins or never find a woman to get married at all. In terms of trust, I guess you could say that. Trust is another criterion that both genders usually look for. Same here. From the POV of women, it's not because of my age. But from my POV it's still correlated with age in the sense that there just wasn't enough time to become successful in my 20s. I needed that money to afford the luxury to focus on the gym, take care of my health, and pay other people to help me achieve these goals. I have more options when going out in real life. In online dating, I'm not going to be in the women's age range but I don't do online dating anyway.

Yes. There's also that. I always question myself. Do I want children or is it just something I idealized? Most people have _some_ options at every point in life. But at 30, men start to be at an advantage when compared to people women the same age. For men, on the other hand, I think it depends much more on your health, etc... than the number, although these things are usually correlated with the number.

Do you mean in the case of "high-value men"? Yes. 38 looks like a good guess for most men. I guess it's more around the age when you start to lose collagen, whatever that age is for you. I disagree with the premise that random people or strangers think anything about you. They don’t even know you. So they can’t think anything about you. Yes. That's the thing. I don't believe caring about what others think is a choice for our species. Some people care more than others because of their personality traits and that's it. There's very little evidence you can't change that. At most, you can pretend not to care, which is often used as a form of signaling an attitude to others (which means they do care about others).

The idea that self-esteem is inherently a good thing is one of the most stupid ideas I see being propagated in society. You’re too young to be that defeatist. You can consider things but that’s clearly not the best plan for you. Have you tried using your money to find a good nutritionist, endocrinologist, and personal trainer to make you a good plan? You should be fine in at least one year. Then fix any obvious physical defect you might have. Still can’t find someone who’s at least upper middle class and willing to marry with a prenup without counting on money? That’s hard to believe. No one should be OK with that. The reason these kind of comments get upvotes is because they stand out and usually appeal to the audience of that channel/sub/whatever. The excuse both men and women give to this advice is that having optionality makes things easier. This is mostly incorrect and but some failed logic makes it seem like good advice. Still, this is terrible advice! You’re ensuring no relationship will go very far or even worse: you’ll invest a lot in a relationship just so your part…

Sure. The polygamous past is often associated with more trauma from the family. At the same time, I think in some environments (like some schools I've seen, etc) this is just incentivized even without any trauma and it's hard to stop it unless the family cares about instructing their children enough to compete with the schools. finding a forever partner as part of this healing Yes. That's the hard part. Not all partners are going to feel the same about it. And often both partners hurt each other…

Does this mean that women and men have basically the same levels of innate selectivity and average men and women feel the same way about such pairings? Not at all. Both will ultimately end up with the best they can find because it's impossible to be any other way. But their biological imperatives that spread their genes the most are still different (as they are for any species): males would like to have sex with as many females as possible because sperm is cheap and there's no parental investmen…

People will end up with people in their own “SVM” sooner or later. The main difference nowadays is the amount of trauma from their polygamous past both parties will take to this final ultimate long term relationship which should be the one where effort is invested. And also the social consequences of that.

If people here are coherent they should say yes because everyone has a past and the past doesn’t matter. You shouldn’t even know she’s a pornstar and if you took the time to find out it only means you’re insecure. At least she got paid for the sex she did and now she chose you. You should be celebrating. If you think that has anything to do with values you also need a therapist to stop being a child.

This creates a false dilemma by virtually defining a "nice guy" as a non-attractive person or attaching random qualities to the concepts of nice/bad. That's not the case. Of course, some people might think they're nice while they're only unable to attract other people, but that doesn't mean the word "nice" doesn't mean anything. Once you undo the false dilemma, the problem is not that complex. For both genders, there are attractive nice people, attractive bad people, non-attractive nice people, …

Some people create that rule and many bypass it by just becoming boy/girlfriends for a couple of months, having sex without any other form of investment, and then moving on. Some serial monogamy has become not very different from casual sex. It's even worse because it might be the case that only one person is investing. I guess the meaning of these acts for the …

As I said, not all men and women are on the same team. This is a useless simplification. They're on opposite poles. Many men and women think they benefit from casual sex culture. Many men and women think hookup culture is detrimental to them or society. If some man (or woman) says A and another man (or woman) says not-A, you can't say "men" (or women) are in contradiction. Most men would stay in relationships with zero sex and would prefer society to be this way until marriage. That’s exactly the outcome whenever women are not the ones dictating all rules of the sexual market: instead of polygamy, people choose a single parter and only have sex after marriage. Maybe the criticism is not coming from the same people? There are a lot of people on the World Wide Web. I’ve never seen any of these conflicting opinions come from the same people. And the last one is not conflicting at all: is totally common for men (and women) to want their wife (or husband) to be sexual with them and modest in public.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/24 05:24 AM

Yes. If you're never going to have a LTR you don't need to worry about the numbers. But if the reason you're never going to have a LTR in the first place is the decline, then the numbers are useful to understand the point about the decline being misleading. Usually, the decline is about the hypergamous sexual marketplace leading to beta bux leading to bad deals for men leading to high divorce rates usually initiated by women leading to terrible consequences for men: marriage became a contract th…

Well... there's that: "enjoy the decline". I'm not sure that's good advice. It's the "unactionable" category I mentioned: a high-value blue pill man can enjoy the decline just as much. And he might also have a much better chance of randomly finding a woman that's not participating or participating less in the decline. Then you might say "all women are the same in that regard because the system is broken" and pull some red pill statistic about body counts and hook-up culture. But that goes in the…

You don't need any red pill for that. And it's the only actionable advice. It would be much useful to focus on how much can you realistically improve yourself with how much effort. Yes. The issue I have with TRP is it's not very actionable. Improving yourself is good by definition, it's not some red pill stuff. Then you put both things together, become as alpha as possible, and hook up with a lot of women. OK. Let's say it works. And then what? I never got a proper answer to that. It depends on whether it’s involuntary. If it is, which seems to be the case, just work on yourself. Don’t compare yourself with girls either because it’s much easier for them if they want to. People will say you need to be in the top 20% to get something and that might demotivate you but the good news is the competition is not putting a lot of effort.
