First and foremost they didn't ban knives, it's illegal to carry a knife longer than 3 inches in public but and as far as I know the only banning was zombie knives, which are not normal knives

That source doesn't actually disprove deterrence theory, it supports my claim, explains it, says there are exceptions like when people are high/drunk and says repeat offenders can get used to prison or think about the chance of getting caught more than the punishment. At no point does that wiki page debunk what you say it does. At most it says increasing severity is not as significant and then proceeds to state lowering severity increased crime rates.

In the uk there were 12.1 homicides per million in 2020 and 11.6 in 2018 In America there were 50 per million in 2018 and apparently that's gone up. So yeah.
