Oh, thanks. I understand the TDS... even in Canada many of us need to take a deep breath and think about what we want to say when it comes to our neighbours to the south (esp on trade), At the end of the day, even if everyone goes "tariff all the things!", almost everyone will continue to live without severe problems. Life would be better if everyone just calmed down a bit. Thanks for your response, btw. Every sub has a different lingo. Have a nice day, mate.

Sorry, what does that mean? I can't tell if I'm being mocked or not. Before I type an angry reply, I'd like to know if my outrage is justified, or not :)

It's a bit scratchy, tbh. I've found these communities have some good insights but also a lot of unnecessary anger. I 'get' the anger but it's not esp helpful when dealing with these issues. I've been in therapy, off and on, for 15 years, and my biggest takeaway has been that you need to let go of the anger and resentment to move on. I'm only ~~80-90% to that point, but I can tell you that letting other people trigger you is often in your control. Whether that's <insert Crazy Political Stuff> or…

Jesus, man. Women aren't the Devil. Calm down. Writing off 50% of the population because you don't like them is pretty extreme.

Yep. I'm not a stalwart member of this community, but that has "wtf" written all over it. If the Internet Feminists got wind of a man saying that, there would be hell to pay. There might even be a hashtag (barf). I get along fine with women I work with, but I am utterly sick of some of them claiming "harassment" when guys say it and then they turn around and say the same shit to men, with zero consequences. Fuck that.

Another one of many lies that females tried to indoctrinate young males with. Do your research and start maxing out that 401k men! I agree with your main points, but I'd like to point out that the system was designed by men (primarily) to "encourage" a paticular social outcome (marriage). I mention this because the entire system is designed to push people into what they consider "socially-stable" relationships that self-perpetuate. What this means for people like us is that we are having to push…

Don't date a single mum unless you want to be a father to someone else's kids or want to be used as a walking/talking ATM. Their focus will always be their kids. It's a biological drive. The moment you stop being useful in that regard will be the moment you get tossed aside. Unfortunately, with the way the laws seem to work, if you've provided longish-time care for her and her kids, you may be dinged for child support. Just don't do it. It's a bad idea.

Of course not. It's just the narrative pushed by certain groups that like to categorize men as unfeeling brutes that aren't safe to be around. I'm not big on being around many/most people, but I love most animals (and they love me) since they make decisions about you by how you act, not generally because of preconceptions or biases they bring to the table. Interactions with animals often seem to be more equitable than having to deal with some dickhead or bitch who had a shitty day at work and is…

" Add those business barriers to the mix of more universal setbacks—the wage gap, disproportionate caregiving rates, stereotypes about women’s interests and innate strengths—and it’s tough to imagine how a women-led company wouldn’t struggle." Those issues aren't speaking to how hard it is to start a new business (unless you're stupid enough to start a new business with a newborn and you're a single parent). Pay gap doesn't matter if you're the CEO. Both genders struggle with young children. Ste…

Apart from the usual issues of shame and self-blame with victims of domestic abuse or rape (men or women), you can be sure a lot of people wouldn't even believe they could be raped. Just like prostitutes, porn stars are always consenting /s Unfortunately, the whole issue is fucked up. Physical evidence degrades super fast (if it exists), it's a polarizing issue, and once the press gets a hold of it, it is guaranteed to go into the shitter.

And these threads always remind me that apparently, I've raped every single GF I've had (no matter how enthusiastic they were at the time), most of my hookups, and so have my friends. This, of course, also disregards their-after the-fact avowal that they consented. In science, when we have a theory that is unable to discriminate between truth values, we label it "non-empirical" and stop using it to measure anything. It is thrown away, essentially. Try that with a woman. Report back how it went. Make sure you keep a log of how long you were in jail and how everyone thought you were a piece of shit "for hitting a woman".
/r/MensRights13/11/15 05:44 AM

Men used to excuse their abuse by referencing religion (and still do so in some places of the world). That's a theory, imo. Of course, we recognized that theory was bullshit and decided that abuse was a crime. Now we just need to make sure it's equally applied to everyone, regardless of what "theory" is being used to justify it.

Good luck. 15 years ago, my profs were scared to offend the campus PC faculty associations. I can only imagine how much worse it has become. My understanding is that even invited speakers get bomb-threats. It's funny that "feminists" are resorting to the very same types of threats that actual feminists faced back when women didn't have equality. Wow.
/r/MensRights09/11/15 07:49 AM

Not every feminist is a maniac. Don't fall into the same "us vs them" viewpoint the militant crazies buy into. At some point, MRAs and Feminists need to have a meaningful discussion and absolutist thinking is antithetical to that dialogue.

I think his point is that the RadFem insanity is core to many social institutions, court systems, universities, healthcare- hell most things have been infected to one degree or another. You don't realize how fundamental this shit is to everyone because it's part of the background noise. You don't notice it's there until you turn it off.

Ah yes, crying attacks over nothing. A sure sign her parents completely failed to raise her correctly. Though none of us like the "man up" demand, there is something to be said for "What the fuck are you crying about? Stop that shit right now!" approach when you're raising a boy or a girl. Crazy behaviour starts at home, usually. Enabling it doesn't make it go away.

The point is, people shouldn't be role models because they are athletes, people should be role models because they are awesome people. "Celebrity-worship" is seemingly built into our collective social-DNA (based on every single culture putting people on pedestals, regardless of their clay feet), but we shouldn't be idolizing people because they can throw a ball really well.

In this case, the prosecutors are the ones who brought the appeal to refile. They seem to be motivated. It's only a 4th degree charge and Hope will probably get a plea, but hey, it's good they think it's worth pursuing. Marriage isn't bondage. I totally disagree this sow has any claim to his money (given the circumstances), but marriage isn't some sort of suicide pact. Is she a great person for leaving? No. Would I do the same if my wife turned into a completely different person (essentially). Yup.

Heh, my favourite "technical misuse" is valid. People have no idea what it is supposed to mean and I still find it grating when everyone used it to mean "defensible". But that's English for you. Popular usage defines meaning, not ivory tower folks. Which is why the OED uses real-world instantiations of usage to make their definitions.

Yah, and it was an amusing beat down by Alito: Justice Alito responded that the idea that security “would be seriously compromised by allowing an inmate to grow a half-inch beard is hard to take seriously.” “An item of contraband would have to be very small indeed to be concealed by a half-inch beard,” he wrote, “and a prisoner seeking to hide an item in such a short beard would have to find a way to prevent the item from falling out.” Anyways, on point, the beard case was subjected to : The tes…

In Canada, our judges are sponsored by expert panels made up of highly-experienced and broadly sourced committees that include govt appointees, lawyers, judges, police, and citizens. They generally serve until 75, or they get bored. It's very rare for a judge to be removed, although mechanisms exist to do so (whether this applies to our SCourt, I don't know). Stacey, a mum-of-three, admitted Stanley was left with only a minor bruising on his shoulder. Speaking of scapegoating... the reporter seems to be happy to deflect blame by mitigating the harm. That's the really bizarre part: G-7 countries' birth rates are well below replacement values (when you ignore immigrants). Is it any wonder when men are waking up to the fact that they are viewed by courts and women as merely portable ATMs? We shouldn't ignore stats that show some women do stay home to raise the kids and do postpone job and career experience to do so. And they deserve recognition and support for doing so. However, they should have to show they've done that. Not working is not the same as giving up a career. If you have no kids and you don't work, you are a moocher and deserve no further payments.

Honestly, I think you're right. Once court statute is on the books, the reasons for it diminish in importance over time. The more decisions agreeing with it, the less the court will re-examine the original intent. By now, the legal statutes are well-neigh unassaliable. Yup. It's a bit strange since I'm a reasonably normal middle-aged guy and I don't really like strip clubs, yet one of my girlfriends really liked them and got turned on by them. She took me to them, and she wasn't even overtly bisexual. She just got turned on by the atmosphere of "hey, baby, wanna fuck?" I have to agree. Women are terrible at communicating. They emote very well, but are horrible at comprehending 50% of the population (men). When they hear men's problems, they internalize it as weakness rather than a desire for support (as they would for other women). Men, of course, are expected to understand and support women when they need it, and to do so without judging (/eyeroll). Get your support from other men. They won't judge you for it. Women will, and will dump your ass.

I think that's obscuring the issue, however. The point is supposed to be: "it doesn't matter what you look like or whether I had sex with you 20 minutes ago. What matters is that I'm allowed to own my own responses".

In my experience, some more extreme college groups would like to require explicit discussion and agreement for every action to be consensual. If I strain myself, I can just barely think of a greater turn-off than this bureaucratic approach to consent. You might as well say "please forcefully insert your penis into my vagina with a minimum of 10 Nm of force. Repeat."

"Men are unrefined until they are tempered by the civilizing hand of a woman." "They are brutes and need the fine hand of a woman to show their true colours." "Brute is only Brut after the advent of a woman's fermentation. Before, it is only so much rotten juice and fit only for the pigs." Credible quotes, no? Fake, but credible. I guess we are supposed to forget most fruit carries its own yeast. If fermentation is the aim, we will turn out just fine on our own.

My early memories recall the man-hate and the partho-vibe. It's actually not new. I recall rhetoric and posters about those very things in the '80's. In fact, my mother could bring her female dog to work. She was not allowed to bring me. Apparently I, as an 8 year old, was a potential rapist and certainly a member of the the patriarchy (no I'm not joking). I was barred, regardless of circumstance. Hate transcencds time. RadFems are truly hatemongers. Just like Nazis. Or the KKK. Sadly, governmen…

Wow. Actually, that's exactly the same that my straight and "normal" mother had to put up with when she worked at a RadFem org in the mid-80's. You know, the same inclusive place that, because she was a straight woman who liked men had to tolerate dirty dildos being left on her desk in the morning, relentless and intrusive demands from bull-dykes (imagine the worst of men, but female), extreme and unjustified far-left expectations and insults about herself and her sexual drives. All in the name …

The Feminists at my first college lost their minds when a pre-op tried to use "their" bathroom in the Student Union building. This was my first exposure to how insane Feminists can be. It's not about inclusion. It's about control. And a side of incoherent rage. (in retrospect it's funny, but sad at the same time)

Meh. All they need to do is append "alleged" and the issue of litigation is mostly dismissed. The underlying issue remains the assumption that men are the aggressors and women are passive recipients. The journalist needn't be at fault either, as they are well aware of the intended readership and will pander to them. *Let's be honest: Men are "revolting beasts jacking off to kiddie porn in their 'man-caves' and aren't indiscriminately raping random women and children only because of police" whils…

I've never understood how anyone could credibly assume that 51% of any population is incapable of doing X. Any basic science course should have stopped that from the get-go. ಠ_ಠ

Feminism is a special interest group. No more, no less. If we want to truncate their biased dialogue, we need to start treating them like any other lobbyist group. That is, we need to treat them as an hawker in a bazaar. They need no special attention nor are their wares needful of care. Up to now, we've granted them a privileged group status and have reacted as if their BS has worth. It doesn't. Nonetheless, they have successfully defined the debates, garnered the attention, and have reaped the…

My experience in Humanities was the exact opposite. Shitty teachers mean shitty results. Excellent teachers draw out excellence. Try not to misplace your anger. On point, many reporters do basic research, pick the dominant theories and craft a story. NPR is no different. Of course, in this instance, NPR didn't do due diligence and see what lies behind the "major theories". I was pissed off, too. However, I don't blame an entire branch of academia because of one poorly researched story. Get a gri…

There will always be "imbalances" so long as you analyze outcomes via gender, race, creed etc. Indeed, every job has built in requirements that favour a particular group over any other. This is true whether we speak of education, size, strength, patience, intelligence, or the like. This isn't bigotry or favouritism, necessarily. It's the job that should isolate the correct people, not some aetheric political stance. I'd much prefer to look at the job and analyze whether its requirements reasonab…
