I don't think deciding against higher education is at all okay for men in the long run. Confirming the stereotype of men being brutish and dumb isn't going to swing society into a better place. Degrees may not be worth what they were, so men might be seen as making a pragmatic decision. However, the richness of academics that rounds out a person and expands their overall understanding of the world means very much to me.

Having a stutter and talking to women is interesting. The first time I stumble over a word or get choked up their behavior changes immediately to be more forceful and presumptuous in many situations. I think those discounts and benefits should and usually do apply to active duty rather than vets. It is a sweet deal for the right job, but there are military jobs that don't transition into anything outside the military. Especially for medics who as civilians have no way to come anywhere close to what they used to do without at least being a RN. As with anything YMMV but stereotyping the entire military as dumb grunts is just for edgelords.
