Surprisingly, I found my psych classes to be pretty unbiased! Otherwise, yeah... every class I took on my second run through college that had a female professor was quietly sexist. The male professors, strangely enough, did not do the same. Gee, wonder why.

When I was fifteen I had to tell dad that mom and I were moving out, because she didn't have the guts to do it without my taking the initiative. Man was doing, buying, and selling drugs, and had become insufferable to be around due to diving deep into conspiracy theories and shit, as well as being generally bitter and angry about everything. The last straw was when he cussed and screamed at me for taking the last Snickers bar in the fridge. Doesn't sound that wild, but dealing with that level of…

I wear comfortable pants everywhere. Fuck jeans, man. I only wear them shits if I have work to do or I'm going on a date or something - why tf would I want a damn belt digging into me every time I sit down?

Eh. As usual, the generalizations don't really stick. I can firmly say that if I ever had a girl I thought was 'marriage material', and she showed literally ANY interest in going the distance, I would have moved heaven and earth lol

My good lad, this sub should not be taken very seriously. It's a place full of really bitter people where, on occasion, a good conversation is had. It is a good place to see challenging views; it is NOT a good place to get your ideas of how the real world is. There are some truths on here. For example, most people who date are in some ways jaded, and very self-interested. Thing is, that doesn't make them evil or problematic - that's just human nature. The sooner you get invovled with the people …

You're aware that 'men' refers to multiple people with different thoughts and values, right?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/23 01:23 AM

It isn't about men having access to them, it's about me not liking them. I don't like people who are shallow and narcissistic, and most other people don't either, man or woman. The fact that you are bending so far backwards to try and make this a men-vs-women discussion speaks to your immature and un-nuanced perspective. Here you mentioned men having to be with said women due to a lack of other options. No, men don't HAVE to be with them, they CHOOSE to be with them. I don't think men are someho…

I have not said a single one of those things. I hold the same disdain for vain and shallow men. If you want to be mad at me for shit I didn't say feel free though.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/23 10:36 PM

Frankly it's because I don't like shallowness and wasting my time, but go off. I know it's easier to hit a strawman, so knock yourself out.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/23 08:16 PM
1

No, I'm saying that shallowness is a flaw and we should all strive for character growth–the enabling of such behavior also makes it so that many do not learn this, and they keep inflicting their narcissism on others. Try again, chief.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/23 05:32 PM
7

If it makes you feel better, it's not quite as awful and dystopian as OP's post would indicate if you can filter out the shallow people, which isn't hard. The hard part is that men don't usually have a lot of options, so many will stick it out to try, which effectively validates the shallow women in question, ruining it for the rest of us because nobody calls them on their shit and they don't grow as people.

Wow. Seeing it all laid out like this is... kinda wild. It's all stuff that you do notice, but in small doses, which lessens the impact of it. This is a very thorough write-up, and it really clarifies just how screwed up the constant focus on feminism is.

Notice that "opening doors for men" isn't actually "opening doors for people" in that argument.

Exactly. We've got to gain common ground and focus on the shit that matters, not purity-test people and push them away. That's no way to make friends or allies.

I'm happy you're eyes are clear, but I'm sorry you have to see it. It's really disheartening how much people dismiss others based purely on identity politics, rather than having a conversation. People wonder why the "alt-right pipeline" is so effective–this is why. If men try to do the right thing, and don't necessarily agree with everything certain folks say, they get shit on, called misogynists or incels, and their opinion is no longer valid. It's the same with anything involving LGBT issues; …

I'm not particularly old and wise, and I have issues myself, so take this with a grain of salt. I was a late bloomer. Kissless until 22. It sucked. Aside from utilizing the apps, which did net me a few successes but mostly mental health struggles, what I changed is my perspective. I still flicker back to old thought patterns here and there, but overall I try to remember a few things. Women are different, but they aren't THAT different. You can simultaneously want a serious relationship and enjoy fucking around when that relationship is nowhere in sight. They aren't mutually exclusive. I say this as a man who does the same thing. You don't just throw a perfectly good burger in the trash because your heart wants lasagna, do you?

I feel you. My first girlfriend was the sweetest woman I've been with. No one kisses as well as her. No one makes me feel like a man as much as she did. I fucked that up, and while I try not to talk or think about it often, I regret what I did every time it comes up in my mind. I take small comfort in the fact that I was young and stupid, and that I knew no better. But she has no reason to believe that, and she moved on years ago. I feel you 100%. I've had to work at it pretty consistently over the last two years and I still slip if I'm not vigilant, but that's the only way I could keep moving forward without medicating. As someone in the field who also struggles with depression, there's another way to look at it that I find more palatable. I call it 'self-talk'. I'm a straight guy, but I've definitely seen my fill of misandry too. The weird thing is, other men I know absolutely don't see it at all unless I literally walk them through it. I think it's fair to call it abuse IF the partner is specifically withholding intimacy with the sole intention to hurt the other person or manipulate them. In just about every single other circumstance, it is not abuse, it is incompatibility.

I don't think they were alluding to either of those things. It looked to me like dude was talking about dating in general. That is to say, summarizing very briefly, "women don't like it when men leave the 'marketplace' and get what they want from a different one." In other words, what he's saying is that women do not like for men to leave the dating pool they are socially assigned (by dating younger women, women in foreign countries, escorts who exchange sex for money, etc), because that leads t…

Say it with me: It's not coercive if she's into it. You are conflating the real, genuine issues of sex trafficking, abusive relationships, and power-structure coercion with relationships that many people the world over find happiness in. Just as one anecdotal example, my late-40's sister has been with a man 13 years older than her since her early twenties. They had two children together. Given up? Not exactly. I've stopped putting so much energy into it though, because I've come to the realization that I'm not what most women are looking for, and unless there's clear interest I'm better served by simply spending time alone or with my friends. I don't play games, I'm pretty average-looking, and I don't like to be treated as an option, which means that the amount of ladies who are compatible with me is not particularly impressive. Just as I suspected. You wanna get them attached to some extent to cloud their judgment. It is not "clouding their judgment" to let someone learn about you over time. You can do this from the start. Sure, you could do that from the start if you want really depressing first dates. Odd. I think I'm pretty emotionally intelligent. What makes you think that? I think you aren't emotionally intelligent because every comment makes it seem like you're looking for a fight, not a conversation. That, added…

Most people will not react well if you tell them, "I have depression and I've attempted suicide five times," on the first date. It's not the appropriate time for that discussion, because the first date is supposed to be fun, it's supposed to show the other person why you might make a good partner. However, if you tell them that after a date or two, before things get 'serious', but after they begin to see what makes you 'special', and you explain to them why it happened and what you've been doing…

People are flawed, and it's very easy to be judgmental about someone you don't know. However, when you know them, and you have some context of their life and how/why they are the way they are, it can turn something scary into something endearing. This isn't rocket refrigerators. Have you ever been in a relationship before?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/12/22 06:07 PM

There's a difference between, "I'm a spiritual person and I really value honesty and purpose in a partner," and, "Here's a list of all my traumatic experiences that turned me into the mess you see before you." Self-disclosure is super-important, but even people who would grow to appreciate your flaws will not see a reason to stay if that's what you lead with.

Idk if it's an unpopular take per se, but it's become very clear that contemporary dating advice is all pretty much bullshit. People like different things, but the majority of women like a guy with his shit together who takes no guff, and the majority of men like a girl who looks good and has an easygoing attitude. It ain't hard to see, and it makes sense; yin needs yang and yang needs yin. Of course, there are plenty of couples that flip the norm or defy it entirely, but that's how things gener…

Could be kids, could be trauma, could be trust issues, etc etc. Different people handle life differently. For some, damage develops healthy boundaries. For others, that same damage develops risky or unwanted behavior. It ain't that deep.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/22 11:02 PM

I like a girl with some experience, but this is not an accurate take at all. Girls with less experience are also girls with less baggage, generally. Some men do not want to deal with that baggage, and that is their perogative.

Men get attacked for the harmful behavior that some other men participate in. It boggles the mind that anyone can just standardize the behavior of a whole gender like that, yet I see it pretty much constantly, even when I specifically curate it out of what shows up in my feeds. "Men" aren't some cabal of douches that get together on Sundays and choose 'asshole'. "Men" is a widely disparate group of people, all with very different lives, circumstances and values. So then say that. Namecalling people you don't even know ain't a good look though That said, I don't see the problem with catering to the people you want to be with - that's kinda how dating works. I don't think the majority of dudes having success are bullshitters, but I've ABSOLUTELY seen women fall over themselves for a few bullshitters. One of my childhood friends, for one. Dude grew up in a broken home, middle child, short, black (in a mostly white small town), total nerd. I think it's important to be friends with your partner, in that you should share some activities, but it is not the primary component in my opinion. You can befriend the opposite sex all you want, but without attraction it's just that: friendship. If he doesn't give you the warm fuzzies and make you feel safe and taken care of, it won't last. If she doesn't make you feel like the luckiest badass in town, it won't last. At least, that's what I've observed. I'm fully willing to admit I'm not the f…

Ehhh I see where you're coming from, but not all women are like that. I will say for certain that I prefer male friends for the most part, but that is largely because they share my interests and think the same way I do–not because women make shitty friends. I always keep a few female friends as well, because they can offer me different perspectives and a couple of them give really good advice. Says you. Two of my friends got married, and their lives got much easier after that, aside from the interpersonal conflict that comes from moving in together. They were both living with their parents to save on bills, now they've pooled their resources, and own their own trailer. And that's just temporary until they fix it up (they're mostly done, actually) and finish their schooling so they can both get high-paying work. Neither of them could have done that alone.

There should be equality though. Equality of opportunity, at least. It's still a good thing to strive for. Unfortunately, that would mean some organized class action, and we're too drunk off the teat of modern living to buckle down and make sacrifices to hurt the higher-ups until they finally treat us as human beings.

I'm not 'all in' on the redpill stuff, but one thing that really pissed me off was when I realized I objectified women and put them on a pedestal, instead of seeing them as fundamentally flawed people just like men. So many things clicked for me in that moment–my anxiety with women, the fact I couldn't read them well, the shitty treatment I got from some of them. It didn't feel good to realize that. I felt like an asshole, and in some sense, I was one. Boys are taught, through media and through …

Cops shouldn't be cops if they're on a hair-trigger, and men shouldn't treat every woman as if her betrayal is inevitable. It's fine to be vigilant, but there is no excuse for popping off before you know the situation. I say this as an average-looking guy. You absolutely WILL NOT be successful if you treat all women like gold-diggers or emotional vampires. Jesus.

Yeahhhh. While I'm not one to jump the gun and scream, "DUMP 'EM!" at the first sight of difficulty, that's definitely one of those behaviors I've found I can't tolerate. Some venting is fine, a lot of venting is acceptable maybe a couple times a week, max. It's okay when someone needs help processing their emotions! It's not okay when they take no responsibility for dealing with them. To be clear, I don't think you were saying otherwise, I was just continuing that thread of thought.

No, I am saying that poor behavior is still poor if you have reasons for it. If someone gives you reason to be suspicious, then sure, don't be a doormat - better for you that way. But the way I read your previous comment was that men who've been burned have an excuse to treat ALL women with suspicion. That's kinda fucked if so, but maybe I misinterpreted?

There is a difference between having a reason and having an excuse. Excuse implies you aren't responsible. Assholes can have reasons, but they don't get the luxury of excuses.

I think it's more that men don't often talk about the shit part of their days unless there's something you can do about it, or if they want another perspective. Thus, they usually expect the same from somebody who talks about that shit with them. "Okay she has a problem. Shit, well let's go down the list..." This isn't to say that men never vent, but usually there's a problem-solving aspect to it, at least. I don't know if this part is true of all other men, but I feel as if me venting to someon…

It is common. I don't think the vast majority of college-aged women are sleeping through the football team or anything, but college is about the time most people start truly dabbling. Like, you may not be able to find many virginal women at that age, but there are plenty of gals who aren't going buck wild, and treat relationships with care.

"Openly" does not necessarily mean "in public". What I mean is someone being disrespectful to their partner, without even an attempt at pretense. I am not talking about women in general, I am talking about potential romantic interests. When people get agitated, their kindness and politeness is often strained. In relationships, partners get agitated with each other sometimes. What I am saying, is if a woman is terrible at arguing in a constructive fashion, I'm going to lose interest.

For sure. The reason men on here talk about it so much is because many of us have been socially conditioned since we were children not to show emotions, except for very specific circumstances. Then when we grew up, we were told that we should show our emotions more, then we get punished for it by losing relationships and such. /r/PurplePillDebate21/09/22 02:58 AM

Probably because: a. Many lack the social support that (most) women have. b. When we express ourselves in that way, we often see it as a big deal, and we expect our emotions to be taken seriously. When a man opens up like that, he's showing a lot of trust, and most of us don't do betrayal. It makes the relationship not worth it, because if you can't trust your partner with your feelings, what's the point?

You want other poor people, who happen to be white, to start unions for you? You want other poor people, who are struggling to get by, to NOT negotiate their wage so that it's more equal with yours? /r/PurplePillDebate13/09/22 07:22 PM

Yes, but I'm talking about the common use of the word. People use it incorrectly all the time, and it's poisoned the whole conversation outside of academics. I do not often hear people say, "the patriarchy is a small subset of the population that oppresses everyone," however I do often hear that the patriarchy was made by men to benefit men, and that today's men (rich and poor) derive privilege from that institution. That's because literally, "the patriarchy" is a term that puts the blame on men…

Ah, so it is fine for me to say that "women are too emotional." After all, it's true! Some women are emotional! If a woman has any kind of reaction to that, it's because she's hiding behind the assurance that she is not one of those overly-emotional women. So it's fine for me to say that "black people are criminals," because it's true! Some black people are criminals! If they have a problem with me saying that, it's because they are in their fee-fees, not because it's a gross over-generalization…

Well, right. That's my point–I just don't trust that easily, so I have to know someone VERY well before I would marry them, much less let them make big decisions in my life. Thus far I haven't met anyone I would trust that much, aside from my best friend who is a dude. It's less about power-struggling and more about me feeling safe and grounded with someone. Point being, that doesn't stem from misogyny or anything, but rather my personal baggage.

It's more like: I trust myself to know when I don't know something, so I would defer to my partner when they know more than me, but I would have the final yes/no, if that makes sense. Dude DEFINITELY isn't speaking for the rest of us. In my experience, in most healthy relationships (important to note that not all relationships are healthy) the man grows to appreciate his partner more and more as they age. Sure, maybe young women have nicer asses or prettier faces, but they aren't his partner, and thus they have less value in his eyes. Men who want to cheat, much like women who want to cheat, are unhappy with the relationship. In either case, if they cheat, they are scum.

That shit is no more in men's nature than being meek and servile is in women's nature. It's social conditioning, especially in the case of religion. It's coming to something when you're arguing against common sense. Do you somehow think boys are born into this world with misogyny? Is it just baked-in at the time of baby-manufacture? Or is it more likely there are a group of t…

Lol I could say similar awful things about women, if I was to ignore all the good things women do. I haven't been arguing against a strawman, I've been arguing against your warped ideas. You are no different from the black-pillers that say women are fickle, emotional, and disloyal by nature.

You said nothing to suggest you weren't talking about men as a whole group, so you can hardly blame me for taking you at your word. And no, we aren't going to pretend that a shitty minority of men don't come up with ways to demean women because we aren't braindead. My problem was with your generalization. Now you have specified more, and while it's delusional to think all or most men who watch porn do that shit, at least it's better than all or most men in general. A clear improvement, but still…

Well your problem is that you're expecting men as a whole to think like the loudest men in this sub. It's important to remember that this is a limited community, not representative of the population at large. It's on reddit, and what's more, it's kind of a dark corner of reddit specially designed to cater to such gripes. I can't speak for everybody, but the men in my circle think sex is important and necessary, but not a first priority. It is one of many important factors in a relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/22 10:02 PM

See the problem is you are generalizing 50% of the population, much like those men you disagree with might generalize women. I will say, while I don't judge sex workers, sex work is by definition a risky business to attach yourself to. Higher risk for STDs, higher risk that she has crazy admirers, higher risk it will negatively affect your reputation. Not to mention, for many sex is sacred in a relationship, and thus should not be shared with others. So you see, men can disagree with their partn…

There are definitely some shitty dudes out there, but have you thought for a second it might be a bit dehumanizing to assume men just want you for sex, or that they think you are less valuable because you've had sex? It's true that men are usually more sex-driven, but that doesn't mean most of us think like that. We are more motivated to fuck in a lot of cases, but there are plenty of us who see that as a very wholesome part of human nature and the human experience, not the perfect opportunity t…

Lol people's feelings are complicated, and it takes a long time with lots of shared experiences to completely sort them out. If people have sex early in the relationship and then part ways, that doesn't necessarily mean there was a deception involved, often it just means that one of the parties did not dig it. There is no person on God's green earth that could convince me I should keep dating somebody that I completely lose attraction for. All attraction isn't physical either. I once had a gal I…

You almost never change your mind that drastically after 1 fuck. That sounds... naive, at best. It's definitely possible for the spark to die after banging it out, and it's not anyone's fault in particular. Let me ask you this: If a woman went on a few dates with a guy and liked him enough that she wanted to take it a step further, but after having sex with him, decided she was no longer into it, would you call that a pump-and-dump? If your answer is no, you might be fostering a lovely double-st…

I 100% agree. As with all other decisions, dating decisions have consequences, some good, some bad. If you pay every time, you can't blame others for it–that is your choice. If you put out on the first date, you can't blame others for it–that's your choice. Whether they are good choices or bad choices depends entirely upon your own values.

I will start by saying that I think cheating is fucked no matter who does it, and it's grounds for never seeing somebody again in my book. Many think that it's worse when a woman cheats for a few reasons. When women cheat in secret, it is not uncommon for the partner she cheated on to end up raising a kid that isn't his. However you slice it, that's some traumatic shit. When dudes cheat, it is often about the sex, and that's it. Obviously, that isn't always the case, and that doesn't mean it's o…

Your definition of fat must be different from mine, because I DEFINITELY don't think 70% of women are fat. When men say fat, we mean obese, not chunky chocolate chip. We mean popped biscuit canister, not curvy. When men say they don't want a woman to be fat, what we mean is that we need to be able to find her treasure without a map. That said, I have many standards, most of which are not low, so I don't really have a dog in this fight lol

I agree that liars and cheats are despicable, but man if someone keeps ending up with liars and cheats they need to sort themselves out. Gotta look within themselves and find out why they attract those people, why they're attracted to those people, and why they tolerate those behaviors. Then they need to change the way they approach dating. If somebody keeps sunbathing without sunscreen and then bitching about the sunburn, most people are not going to have much sympathy for them.

Fair enough. You've got to realize something, though. While for you, separating the wheat from the chaff is a full-time job, many men (in this analogy) have been unemployed for years despite putting in applications all over town. That's because men usually see sex as the purest form of intimacy. We also just don't get much intimacy outside of sex. Not all sex is intimate, but our maximum potential for intimacy is during sex, if that makes sense. So I definitely agree that there is such a thing as unfulfilling sex. However, as men we derive most of our value from what women think of us. It's not a perfect system. It's messy, sometimes very unhealthy. But it's how we're wired/conditioned. See, people like to think they aren't capable of evil and toxic shit, but the truth is that we are self-interested creatures, and if circumstances lined up right, the vast majority of us are weak enough to succumb to it. The Qultists, for example, have been primed by years and years and years of propoganda and crappy news to believe just about anything if it comes from the right people. Most of them aren't genuine idiots, they are astray The same is true of misogynists. Sure, there are "true bel…

Thirding "the little things." Literally if a girl just reminds me that she wants me, that she respects me, and that she cares about me, I am putty in her hands. I have a married coworker who treats me like this (but in an entirely platonic fashion), and I struggle to stay appropriate sometimes because I've literally never received that kind of treatment from a woman I've dated, so it's very moving.

I think we have different ideas of what romance is. I couldn't give less of a shit about an arbitrary date on the calendar–I want daily romance. The little things. Reassuring squeezes, my favorite cheeseburger from my favorite spot, compliments, time spent together, passionate sex, fun days out. Who needs a frickin' anniversary when you treat each other in a nauseatingly romantic fashion every day?

I can't speak for other men of this sub, but the only thing that matches me here is that I do prefer for my partner to be fit and pretty, and I really don't give a shit about calendar dates. Why? Because they're arbitrary. I barely find it in me to care about Christmas, and the only reason I do is because it's a cultural thing and one of the few times my family has ever been able to get along. To me, romance is love shown intentionally, all the time, not once a year. I cannot tell you how much i…

I can't speak for other men, but my (27M) experience is that a lot of ladies, even exceptionally kind ones, tend to be very passive in the dating phase. They never message first, or if they do it's something really low-effort in an attempt to get me to start the real conversation. They expect me to entertain them on a date and take all initiative in the conversation. Somehow, they expect us to have "chemistry" when getting them to engage without explicit prompting is like drawing blood from a st…

While I don't COMPLETELY disagree, I think the problem is a bit different for most people, especially on this sub. Let's be real, most of us are nerds, and we probably don't get out much. As such, we get lonely, breed shitty attitudes, let it fester, develop more serious personality issues, and many of us, at least on the men's side of things, become so thirsty it's hard to even make friends with pretty girls because we're so hopped up on testosterone and desperation. That still isn't true. There have been a great many relationships where one or both parties were not interested at the start, but the dynamic changes. Maybe the girl whispers something totally innocent in his ear and it flips a switch. Maybe he unintentionally bumps into her and she smells his cologne, and now she sees him differently. Relationships are organic, you can't stuff everything into neat little boxes because that's not how people work.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing. What I'm saying is that ideally a couple should be able to get together, be intimate, be sweet, be sexy, and progress the relationship, with good enough communication to work through the hangups. I think the point here is that many women don't bring quality companionship. To use one of my past relationships as an example, I was with a gal who I was really into, and I would surprise her with little gifts, do her dishes, and generally show her affection in every way I could. I don't think this is true for all men, but certainly for some. There's an immense social pressure for men to NOT be virgins. People can hug it out and encourage them and deny it all they want, but when a man is a virgin past a certain age, people start to wonder what's wrong with him, which makes dating and especially sex much more difficult. Ehhhh I see what you're saying, but men (with standards) do this too. Man or woman, you don't want to be the person somebody, "settled for," unless you are a very sad, unfulfilled person. I do think women do it more, but that's probably because there are dudes throwing themselves at them all the time, whereas men rarely get approached, and have to "make their own opportunities," and are thus more incentivized to not waste them.

/r/PurplePillDebate20/04/22 11:55 PM

I think this is true quite often, but there are also genuine relationships that crop up sometimes. Older dudes are generally more established, and know what they're about. Makes sense some young ladies would be interested in that. Just like some young bucks are interested in older women because they don't play games, they are direct. Idk, personally I ain't interested in having a large age gap, but I also don't reject women out-of-hand just because there is one. Seems kinda like shooting yoursel…

As a 27 year old, you're full of shit. If we're going purely off anecdotal evidence, hell two of the happiest people I know are in a relationship with a 13-year age gap. There was no grooming, she just liked older men because they know what they're about. Now they're in their 40's/50's with two kids that have left the nest, built their own house on their own property, have a garden, the whole shebang.

Sorta. I used to be very down-in-the-dumps because I was struggling to date, but exposing myself to this subreddit meant exposing myself to some INSANE, RADICAL opinions. For some reason, seeing some of the vilest, whiniest, shittiest takes on the platform has made me feel better, in that I'm acutely aware that other people have felt the same way, and don't have all the answers. Not only that, but even when they STRONGLY disagree, many of them are still able to find some common ground. I realize…

She was pansexual, which I was 100% cool with. What made me uncomfortable, though, is that she would legit LUST over chicks from her shows and such, or talk about how her friend is so hot, etc. Basically, she said all the stuff you want to hear, but she never said it about me. Always others, but because it was women, she thought it was fine. Also had a tendency to be condescending when I made honest mistakes, made me feel small for no reason.

I've had a mixed experience in this regard. I've had a few girlfriends; the two very short-term girlfriends were 100% supportive and okay with emotional conversations, though I admittedly didn't cry with them. The other one, the longer-term girlfriend... She appeared supportive when I broke down while we were re-hashing some rough experiences from our past. Thing is, her idea of rough was a friend-breakup. Word. Men should be less accommodating of (some) women's bullshit. If you want a husband, be a wife. If you want a wife, be a husband. Part of being married is being honest, and in this scenario she wasn't being honest to him about her past, while he wasn't being honest to her (or possibly even himself) about his own desires. Both people in that situation are clowns.

I agree with this, but would like to add that the point of the post is that the woman in that situation is showing her long-term person less of her sexy, adventurous side than she's shown to other men. While a man is very capable of understanding that comparison is the death of happiness, it's pretty much impossible to not think about that shit. I think senseless violence is abhorrent, but if you had to watch those fuckers run over your neighbors in tanks, blow up your home with shells, rape then kill your wives (and kids!), and you caught them out, tell me you wouldn't make them feel that pain. This seems... dramatic. Things have definitely gotten weird with the proliferation of what I like to call "Rabid" Feminism (talking about the extremists here, not the regular folks), but society isn't crumbling due to gender issues, it's crumbling due to economic issues exacerbated by gender issues. The gender issues might become that important if people are ever able to sustain themselves without 3 jobs and a kidney garage sale, but right now the thing killing us is the avarice of the haves and…

Well there ya go. If they can't take criticism, don't like you talking about it with others, and you feel the need to tell somebody about it, breaking up is the right choice. Gossiping against a partner's wishes is chicken-shit. Breaking up means you have a spine.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/22 05:39 AM

And I'm sure they vastly prefer that you gossip about their teeny peens or lack of bedroom skills with all your friends, thus damaging their sexual reputation if you ever break up. Come on, it's not that hard to consider your partner's feelings. If they can't take criticism, break up dude.

I don't necessarily agree with all of these particular boundaries, but it's wild to me the pushback this post is getting specifically for: It is ok to not want her to gossip and divulge your relationship secrets to her friends. I would say your instincts are right. It's a manipulation of language. "The Patriarchy," is not "men," it is the ruling class, which really has nothing to do with maleness in this day and age. Not to sound too bitter, but generally speaking if you listen to "Capital F" Feminists, women are victims of the system who can't be blamed for their shortcomings, while men "run the system" and can be blamed. If it wasn't obvious, every man isn't in every place at every time, and thus we don't have control over every thing that ever happens. I didn't need to acknowledge specific facts, because I already accept them to be true, and that's pretty clear by the way I speak on the issue. I do understand that. You are saying that I'm not listening, but I understand exactly what you're saying. Nowhere in this thread, literally nowhere, have I said that sexual assault and rape are non-issues. I said that there is ALSO another problem, that problem being the generalization of men as predators. You keep presenting this as if I'm suggesting women stop vetting their partners, or prioritizing their own safety! I'm not saying that! Again, you are building yourself a convenient little str…

It literally doesn't take precedent over women's safety. I'm not dismissing the danger to women. It is VERY WELL ESTABLISHED that rape and sexual assault is bad. Nobody is fumbling in the dark here. Literally, every day we are all inundated with that message. It's out there. /r/PurplePillDebate05/04/22 02:26 AM

It's not irrational, and it's not like men are brainwashed to believe we are rapists. The problem isn't men thinking, "Oh gosh, guess I'm a rapist!" The problem is that men are leading very lonely, unfulfulling lives because they are so worried about being perceived as a creep, or a "potential rapist." Men who genuinely have only good intentions. On the stats for SA, a big reason those stats are so skewed, iirc, is that they used a specific classification for rape that requires PIV, thus pretty much exonerating women from the stats for rape. I might be thinking of something else though, take that with a pinch of salt.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/22 02:14 AM

It is rather odd how when you offer practical solutions that basically require you to take responsibility for your own safety, so many people act like you're victim-blaming or something.

This. 100% this. Any person worth a shit, man or woman, is opposed to sexual assault. That shit is terrifying to think about, much less experience.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/22 02:09 AM
5

No kidding! I think that people should be realistic and not assume dudes are rapists, but for real it's not like people who do that shit have "Potential Sex Offender" stamped on their foreheads. They are often very emotionally intelligent and manipulative. That's why women (and men, tbh) need to be careful who they run with, and need to pay attention for red flags. Dude is wildin'.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/22 02:03 AM

It's a very particular type of "man" that is pretty easy to spot in the wild. As a dude, you're absolutely wrong about this one. There are PLENTY of sly sickos out there, and I have had the dubious pleasure to know a couple of them. I agree that people need to be realistic and not simply assume a man is a predator, but people who present with that sort of psychopathic behavior are often VERY aware of social perceptions, and good at manipulating people to get what they want.

I hate to say it, but when men go out of their way to be that aggressively supportive... They're often full of shit. That's the same type of guy who, instead of being honest about his values and such on the first date, will agree with anything you say because he's spineless and desperate. I don't doubt there are quite a few women in that boat. To them, I would give the same advice I give the average man. Work on it. Nahhhh. A society without a Cultural Identity will end that way. Thus far, religion has been the greatest and most pervasive example of cultural identity, but that doesn't mean it's the only way to do it. You've been saying it's racist to prefer certain races for dating. Truth is, most people aren't racist, but rather they are attracted to certain characteristics that are more heavily represented in certain races. For example, if you're attracted to blue eyes and red hair, it's just not incredibly likely that someone not of European descent will have those characteristics. Jfc this comment is depressing. How bad do your experiences have to be to think that the only value men bring to a relationship is the ability to ask you out
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/22 02:16 AM

Absolutely true. I can't tell you how many times I've made a strong impression and then the second she shows interest, fallen apart at the seams. Especially if it's been a long time since I've gotten interest from someone, I have this tendency to get giddy and lose my shit. Unfortunately it's only come across as "cute" a couple of times, usually they're left wondering wtf is wrong with me lmao

I think the other comments have pretty much got the lists covered, but can I just say I love your attitude. I myself try to reach out to "opposing" subs as well to get a more complete picture, and good lord let me tell you, some of the people on those feminist subs hate nothing more than a man not staying in his lane. Seeing as I deal with a LOT of folks who jump on anything I say because it doesn't 100% align with their ideology, this whole post has just been so damn refreshing. Thank you so mu…

Well how far has bitching and moaning got you? I know it didn't take me very far. At least with the advice I gave above you can find more reasons to love yourself if romance doesn't work out :)
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/22 05:41 PM

Absolutely. Much better to learn skills and hobbies that will serve you for years to come than to worry about grooming yourself just right, or trying to become a millionaire just for romance. What so many people don't realize these days is that people are more valuable than their surface qualities. You've got to be somebody YOU could fall in love with first and foremost, because we ultimately only "have" ourselves.

Thanks! I 100% agree. That's a big part of why I gave that post the tone I did. I see this sub as a place for frank, unfiltered discussion, so I didn't want to pussyfoot around the issue like so many do and give some nebulous BS about, "everybody having their person," because we all know it's feel-good drivel that's intended to pacify. The harsh truth is that men have to generate value, because very few of us are attractive enough to get by on looks alone. Male sexuality is very direct. Usually …

I do live in the US, and I know the stats are bleak. My point is that your life shouldn't be dictated by statistics bro. Marriage is a very personal thing, and it works for some people. If you don't want to marry, that's fine. But ain't no reason to be bitter.

As a man, I 100% feel you, I do. But giving advice is not the same as dismissing the struggle. Truth be told, "take a shower, work out, and make more money" isn't easy advice to follow, but frankly it's the simplest effective advice most folks can give. Work on your body, work on your life-security, and work on your hygiene. Those things do help. Some people are never going to be super physically attractive, and that's just facts, shit we have to deal with. Reality doesn't care if you're lonely,…

I roll around feminist subs too so that I'm exposed to different opinions–if you stop learning you start dying if ya ask me. Here's the thing–I understand (to a point) the fear that women feel, because I have been physically and sexually assaulted before. That can't be said of all men, true, but I can relate. And I'll just tell you straight-up that's an awful feeling I wouldn't wish on anyone, period. But unless you've spent 12 months without so much as a hug, a compliment, or a warm handshake, …

Usually, women don't pay for dates. Usually, women have easier jobs. If you look at a construction crew, more than likely it's all dudes. Never once said that there are NO women in those hard jobs; I'm saying there is a strong trend for men to take the hard jobs. I'm speaking "most" statements, and you are purposely mistaking them for "all" statements. Even so, to say that men's only difficulty in dating is paying for the date is blind as hell. As a man, I don't really want to climb up on a cross and tell the whole world about my every single struggle, I just want to be treated like a (valued) person who is flawed, and whose flaws don't define them. Obviously women have their own struggles, and in the past their struggles were MUCH WORSE than men's, but in today's day and age, every woman is valued by society. There is a built-in sympathy, which is not extended to men. Men are only valued if they bring value; if they are visibly flawed…

Having a roommate who frankly doesn't prioritize cleaning, I can relate. That said, from the relationships I've seen among friends and family, it's not uncommon for the wife to completely shirk her duties too–mostly comes down to our socialization I feel. I'm not gonna sit here and say that simps don't exist, because they absolutely do and I consider them a pest, but I think you might be overestimating both their prevalence and their real effect on the dating scene. When most women give simps the light of day, it's usually because they are too agreeable to tell them to fuck off. They aren't exactly banging on their doors later begging for dick. I think it largely depends on the crowd you run with, but I do agree that society at large will knock a guy for shallow preferences before they will knock a gal. That said, I disagree with using these examples because they are both (primarily) preferences exclusive to each sex. Weight is a big one. If a woman turned me down for my weight, or in some fashion joked about it, full stop, nobody in the room probably cares. Yeah, it's hard to fully describe the mindset that most of us men have. I think that it's largely taught, but I know deep down that some of it is just the way I'm wired. We seek approval from women because unless you want to stoop to truly vile actions, approval from women is ultimately how we pass on our genes. It's a very natural process, but it's exacerbated by today's dating game, especially online dating, to the point that it can easily make one miserable. Truth is, a lot of men aren't taug…

I chalk it up to being a matter of experience and societal values. When I was 22, I couldn't bear it. I thought I was doomed to be a kissless virgin (I know, it makes me cringe too), because I didn't know what women wanted, and I couldn't find a way to explore what I wanted, and we as people place so much value on sex/romance that I thought I was defective or something. Once I managed to start a few short relationships, a lot of that feeling went away. I no longer feel like I'm sub-human or some…

I think most of these arguments hold water, but one of them caused me to have a thought. SOME studies have shown there may be a link between porn and reduced intimacy with your partner Have we considered that this link suggests not only that increased porn usage reduces intimacy, but that reduced intimacy increases porn usage? Couple simple questions for you. When people watch regular ol' (non-personalized) porn, are they interacting with the actual person behind the screen? When people purchase/create personalized porn like OnlyFans, are they interacting with the actual person behind the screen? The answers to those questions will make it crystal clear why so many people have a problem with making/watching personalized porn in a relationship, while they see non-personalized porn as no big deal.

There is a difference. If you (man or woman) are on OnlyFans, you are sexualizing yourself to/for other people. There is actual interaction there. It is personalized. There is a strong potential to attract suitors and stalkers which can very easily disrupt the relationship in a real-life, physical or social way. If you (man or woman) watch regular ol' porn, as long as you aren't overdoing it, you're just getting off. You aren't interacting with the person on the screen. It is impersonal. You're …

I think there is a distinct difference between "faking it" and cultivating the sort of characteristics, interests, and behaviors which tend to attract the opposite sex. This may not work for everyone since humanity is such a diverse bunch, but generally speaking social interaction is like a muscle. I used to follow and believe in the strategies of TRP; now I think that a good portion of it is misguided. TRP has some solid ideas. For example, I think that most women do, in fact, prefer an honest asshole over a dishonest "nice" guy. But some of the other stuff is not so helpful. Do you know why? Women are not some monolith of people who behave exactly the same way, no more than men are. We each have trends, but in my experience TRP does too much. I'm looking for a partner, not pussy. I'll be honest. I don't subscribe to TRP (used to), but I see its merits. Thing is, I've had enough experience with the shittier ladies TRP tends to describe that I know I don't want to be with them anyway–too much drama, with none of the emotional intimacy I actually want, and often without the physical too. Uhhh generalizing isn't fine, that's literally the core of our disagreement my dude. I do not generalize feminists, I do not generalize races, I do not generalize women. Thus, it would stand to reason one should not generalize men. This isn't to say you aren't allowed to avoid personally interacting with people because of your experiences, but that shouldn't impact people's job prospects, criminal status, or treatment in the eyes of the law, or of society.

I never generalized all feminists as saying that. I do think it's a disproportionately large number of feminists, but I'm well aware that there are very ideologically consistent feminists too.

Oooo you speaking facts though. Happiest relationship I've ever seen is my sister's. She married a man 13 years older than her.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/22 03:22 AM

That is most definitely not what I am saying. I'm saying that generalizing an entire gender is damn foolish. The discussion isn't about boundaries, it's about treating the genders differently.

On that we can agree.

As a dude, when women pull that shit it's one of two things: She actually likes you and cares about what you think of her, and she doesn't want you to think she's easy. She doesn't really like you, but rather sees you as secure; you are the backup plan, she doesn't actually desire you, she wants the safety. The first option is a manifestation of insecurity and the shitty views of our society, while the second is 100% an excellent reason to drop her ass. I think both are pretty fucking stupid, bu…

Speak for yourself, homie, I wouldn't mind a girl that's easy just so long as she understands commitment and isn't carrying any unwanted guests into my bedroom. "Easy" is a shitty term anyway–you want what you want, and if she wants me bad enough that she can't wait, that's all the better. Granted, if she was only easy with me, that'd be even better, but that's a pretty unrealistic expectation to have lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/22 10:00 PM

Idk bro, equal rights are only important when it benefits women, not to put to fine a point on it. We're men, so we're supposed to "deal"

Honestly I don't think it matters which side has a better point. Watching too much porn and having sex with people who don't care about you while expecting a relationship are both rather self-destructive behaviors. In this scenario, both people need to temper their expectations, unless they're cool with being miserable.

/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/22 03:45 AM

I think people who are concerned with body-counts need to get over themselves, frankly. If a woman wants to take it a bit slow, that's cool, as long as she is showing interest and we aren't going on kissless dates or something. If she wants to go fast, that's cool sometimes too. Idk, mutual respect and compatibility is all I really give a shit about lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/22 03:04 AM

As a dude, you'd best believe I gas up my boys. A couple of them really fucking need it. It's not about making an objective evaluation of their appearance–if they ask for that, I'll be very honest and blunt. When I just give out compliments, it's about noticing the positive things that they are doing, whether that be building their skills, spicing up the wardrobe, getting a great haircut, or working out. Life is hard enough as it is, gas up your friends lil homie.

/r/MensRights18/01/22 05:37 PM

Even generalizing all feminists is disingenuous. Plenty of feminists would take exception to being represented this way, just like men's rights advocates take exception to how we are misrepresented by feminists. It's ridiculous.

Where are the generalizations? Did you read this post? For every one of these made-up answers, he lists the source as "All Feminists." How on Earth could that possibly not be a generalization?
/r/MensRights18/01/22 12:44 PM

Disgusting. I don't know how people can make statements like that without realizing how wrong they are. That said, you didn't really provide any kind of justification for these wild generalizations in the OP.
/r/MensRights18/01/22 05:20 AM

Sure, agreed, but this dude is literally constructing his own strawman and generalizing a whole gender from it. Not really any better.

So like... I see what you're getting at, and I agree that those sorts of generalizations made by a large number of feminists are complete bullshit. But you do know you're doing the Clint Eastwood thing, right? You are literally asking yourself questions and supplying yourself answers. This is the bold-faced definition of a strawman, and your argument is weak as fuck because of it. See, and that's the kind of thing I very much respect. When I'm dating someone, I'm looking for a partner, not a doormat. I think a lot of dudes frankly want a doormat, though–I don't get it, but far be it from me to yuck someone's yum lol

I should clarify; I think women who can do "masculine" things, like craft and athletic hobbies, are amazing. What is a turn-off for me is when a woman tries to dominate me socially in some fashion or other. But then, that's probably because I'm masculine, so it resorts in unnecessary conflict. It's not a hard-and-fast rule either, by any means. I once had a girlfriend who was very blunt and honest, and I appreciated that, but what I didn't appreciate is the way she interjected herself into every…

I don't know anything about your specific posts, so my opinion is only marginally helpful, but in my experience women who advertise themselves as "confident" are usually acting the ass by overcompensating for gender expectations. Men make asses of themselves too in this respect, but as women are breaking gender norms when they do it, they stick out more. I used to think that men and women are essentially the same, just socialized differently, but nowadays I think that some gender norms (the ones…

Idk what to tell you, it's a different sort of rejection, but it's the kind women have got to deal with, just like getting turned down over and over is something men have got to deal with. I get that it sucks to rethink a whole friendship, but them's the breaks.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/01/22 02:59 AM

That was a long read, friend. I'm well aware that some dudes are garbage, and do befriend women only for sex. I do not hang with them or respect them. But I can tell you that the vast majority of the time, in my experience, men do not only befriend women for sex. They befriend them, and the option of dating is often in the back of the mind, but, like women, some of us want to feel things out first. We vet you ladies before asking you out sometimes; easiest way to do that is to befriend you. It's…

I generally operate the same way you do, but it wasn't always so. I think this perspective takes a fair bit of maturity - moreso than simple "adulthood," and I think some dudes never manage to gain that perspective. Mostly though, I think I pretty much described how most young men operate. Befriend, develop feelings, shoot shot, get rejected, create distance to protect feelings.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/01/22 01:44 AM
10

Let me be clear, I think the whole "friendzone" argument is moot, because as a guy you win some and you lose some, and that's just the way it is, no point bitching about it. However. There are plenty of situations where a man befriends a woman, but sees them as an option. As they start to hang out more, he starts to see things differently. When he shoots his shot and gets rejected, it's not like he can just switch back. That shit hurts, even if you're good-natured about it, and most men need dis…

I have explicitly avoided PUA stuff since 2017, so I can't speak to that. MGTOW had a lot of vitriol the last time I visited, but at least most of them could face the reality that, for whatever reason, women don't want them. It's been a loooong time since I visited TRP. When I did visit it, it seemed to have a pretty equal balance between dudes who are genuinely just trying to strategize their dating (for better or worse), and dudes who fell into the misogynistic rabbit hole. So in short, afaik,…

Eh, I'll sum it up real quick-like. Nice =/= Good Truth is, women would rather be with a dick who tells them exactly what he thinks than a doormat who will lie and cajole and pretend with any fantasy she likes, as long as he gets "but a crumb of pussy, sir" This is because those men are, and come across as, spineless cowards. Women are driven to find men that are assertive, and protective. As many problems as Mr. Dick might present, if he can cover those two bases and he's interesting enough to …

I'm pretty sure there are happy marriages of all kinds, my guy. It depends on the people in them. My point is that no one group of people are to blame. Most People (not just men, not just women) on the apps kinda suck. They are on the apps because, for one reason or another, they don't want to go out to find people. You're going to be dealing with every shade of neurosis under those circumstances, and it has little to do with gender. So, the supposition that it is Men's fault (men who have never met the guys she's talking about) is on its face insulting, and not really worth entertaining. Ma…

I don't really subscribe to any of the pills to a radical extent, but I think I've got a very centrist perspective that most people in the communities would hate for various reasons. Socially, I'm an Egalitarian. I think Feminism lost the plot, and ironically is necessarily gendered, so I think it's time to stop with that shit. In the eyes of the law, neither sex, gender, orientation, race, nor creed should have any bearing on people's rights or treatment. In my personal life, I'm a flexible tra…

We must have different interpretations here, because I understood it differently. In the post, but mostly in the comments, the OP basically blames Men (yes, all of em) for women's dating problems, even though most women effectively don't have to initiate in order to get dates. They have options lining up around the corner, waiting for their shot; it's understandable that the process of choosing a partner can be hectic, but how do you think those dudes feel? They can't even get a woman to look at…

I think a lot of people do this, consciously or not. Makes complete sense. You crave what you had, back before shitty, spineless people shattered your perception of who you can trust; but since that trust was destroyed, and it hurt so bad, you never want to give someone the power to do that to you again. I'm not extremely successful with relationships, but here's my takeaway. I can still be in relationships, but it will take longer, and take more effort to earn my trust again. Maybe no woman wil…

I mean, ultimately they feel that banishment because no woman (that they know of, anyway) wants to have sex / build a home with them, so unless you want to take one for the team there's really just not much to be done. My point was that men by-and-large are not rewarded for that behavior. I don't think women are right or wrong in this case, because no woman owes her sexuality to anyone, but dudes who are honest, straightforward assholes get a lot farther than guys that are being super-nice and hoping to get noticed for it. You probably aren't ever going to meet your future wife if you expect her to jump on your dick for being virtuous. It just doesn't work that way for most people. Besides, this is wildly off-…

No woman is going to know if you told your friends to cut that shit out, because that's the kind of thing you tell them in private. You don't light up your friends in public unless they are extraordinarily shitty. I hate the term, but this is literally what the term "white-knighting" was created for. Here's the thing. "Men" is a demographic. Half of the entire planet doesn't just sit down for weekly board meetings where we make a magically-binding blood-pact about what is and is not okay dating/sexual behavior. If we were capable of doing that, the shitheads wouldn't get away with behaving the way they do. A lot of men suck. A lot of women suck. Most of the single people that suck are on the dating apps. I would like women to choose me more often, and actually engage when we match so I don't have to be consistently ignored, ghosted, or carrying the conversation every time. This would also benefit women, as good men would become more active on the apps. See how that works? Turns out generalizing a whole gender isn't very nuanced, is it?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/22 10:22 PM

Maybe YOU and YOUR FRIENDS aren't selecting the assholes, but some women are, and that's all the shitty dudes care about. Can you control what other women do? No! Can us reasonable fellows control what other men do? No! So what are you actually getting at here?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/22 10:17 PM

I'm not one of the gripers, really... But how do you figure? It's not like when a man calls out his friend the nearest cutie hops on his dick. I call out shitty behavior regardless because I have high standards for my friends, but this kind of thing doesn't help me in any way. It's a numbers game with OLD, so it's not uncommon for people to stop treating each other like people; simple as that.

It's definitely not necessary.

Don't get me wrong, OLD isn't a picnic for most women either, but comparing the rejection and shitty experiences of women to that of men is like comparing a single punch to a gang beatdown. Nobody is special in OLD, that is both the charm and the awfulness of it. Everybody has had bad experiences. It's not "men's" fault or "women's" fault. It…

Idk, usually works for me. But then, I try to keep a cool, but goofy demeanor in the early dates, so they usually know I'm just a straightforward dude.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/22 03:05 PM
10

That's one way to completely ignore the point. Also, do you REALLY think that of all the female murderers out there, NONE of them did it because of sexual/dating frustration? This reminds me of that story where a woman tied up her delivery guy and raped him for several days. Look, there are no demographics comprised of only perfect, or even good, people. Period.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/22 01:08 AM

Is balding a huge issue for most women, in your experience? It's not something I consider often, as I will probably never go bald (knock on wood), but after some thought I realized that if a woman were bald or balding, I would probably not pursue her either.

This is honestly how I feel deep down. Unless I was blackout drunk, I've never done something drunk that I didn't agree to do. I don't know what's so hard about that. Yes, there are certainly dudes who take advantage, but unless someone is wasted, I think it's a FAR cry from rape. People act like the second alcohol touches a woman's lips, she's helpless. Alcohol is literally intended to lower inhibitions. You are responsible for your own well-being, so if you can't control yourself when you have…

/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/22 08:43 AM

I don't really see the logic here, but okay. It's not like I don't want adventure, I just don't consider that a need. It's more important to me that a partner is warm, affectionate, and useful.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/22 08:09 AM

Tbh, I don't care to hunt down examples, but I think you and I are mostly on the same page. I made an assumption that your views matched the narrative that "if a woman is drunk, the dude raped her, period." So sorry about that, it was less-than-excellent of me. I have no problem with the inebriated party calling it rape when one person is sober and the other is drunk, just so long as that goes both ways. A lot of people don't think it does, and they are the people I have a problem with.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/22 07:55 AM

It's all a matter of degrees for me. When I get high I enjoy it a lot, but I can also zone out and kill the mood if I actually get stoned. Tipsy sex is ridiculously fun, but anything past that definitely causes unforeseen problems lmao

This is something that many, many, MANY people disagree with me on. I know actual rape victims, and the women that claim rape just because they had some alcohol when they were publicly and enthusiastically going for it... cheapen the word. Rape is a very loaded term, and it should be used very selectively. This isn't to say that women who are taken advantage of while wasted aren't raped, don't get me wrong. This is about the women who actively participate in the sex but feel guilty afterward and…

A lot of times, the "provider" role denotes the partner that handles the bills and the strict living expenses. Like, if the other person lost their job, the family will survive because the provider is still providing. That doesn't mean the other person can't work, of course. I've seen a few relationships where the man takes care of house, utilities, food, and gas, while the woman basically uses the extra income from her job to help out with furniture, kitchen-stuff, comforters... You know, domes…

I once had a girlfriend who would basically go incommunicado for days at a time, sometimes over a week. I told her it was a problem, but she insisted that she's just oh-so-busy, and a terrible texter. I knew this wasn't true because the woman was always on that damn phone. Got sick of her shit and started communicating like she did. No initiation. One-word or simple responses. Zero emotion. Occasionally I'd ignore her texts for a few days. It took about two weeks of that before she was all, "Oka…

I think that ghosting is shitty, unless the ghostee in question is a threat to the ghoster. Most people are just normal human beings, and we all have blind-spots for our own behaviors. Every bad date is a teachable experience, but sometimes the lesson gets lost because the other person is too much of a coward to... what... tell the truth? How is someone to improve themself when they don't know what they did wrong? It's the uncertainty that fucks with you. As an over-thinker, I'll tell you that g…

Very simple. Ask directly, with reassurance that you'll be cool about it either way. If she misreads it, she's probably a piss-poor communicator that'll waste your time anyway. "How's the vibe?" "Doing alright, or do we need to switch gears?" "Sorry, that date went kinda sideways. We still good?" It's all about acknowledging her role in the dating process and giving her a chance to save face if she needs an exit, without making it seem like you're hanging on to her every word. Not really. I'm a dude, but one of the primary drivers that causes people to go to the gym is sexual competition. Like, I want to be fit for the sake of fitness, but that's frankly not as motivating as seeing your progress physically manifest. People ain't narcissists just cause they're feelin' themselves a bit.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/22 06:03 AM

Am a dude, but here are my unfiltered answers. 1: Why do some women intentionally sexualize themselves at the gym? Either because she likes the attention/how she looks, or it's "for the 'gram." Seems kinda like a question that answers itself tbh. 2: Do men feel uncomfortable as a result? Most of the time, no. I'm not a gym rat, so the concept of socializing at the gym is alien to me. As a man, I can tell you that I require intelligence for a relationship–no way around it, she's at least got to be capable of considering philosophical questions or it won't last a year. However, I will say that there are certain things COMMON among intelligent women that make me immediately reconsider any kind of relationship. This isn't an exhaustive list, but rather some examples of issues I've run into personally. 1: If the only things they ever want to talk about are intersectional feminism…

I wouldn't call it "advice" but I would raise my kid to be more active than me, physically. I would also try to teach them nore important life skills like cooking, cleaning, healthy coping, and personal finance. It's crazy how much my parents missed with me, and I feel that my early failures were largely caused by learning those lessons the hard way. Nahhh fuck that. I want my future partner to love me, but I don't need a pedestal. The only thing I want over my future partner is veto/big-decision power. The only reason I want that is because I've been through a lot of shit, and I know myself enough to believe in my decisions. May seem domineering, but it's just because I trust myself to make the right choices. I would need a partner that also trusts my decisions. Unfortunately, dating as a man involves a lot of pain unless you're incredibly attractive. Many men let this pain get to them, and take it out on other people, mainly the women who reject them. As a dude I empathize, but it ain't right. In some cases, the dude is being extra-nice because he thinks there's a chance for something more. When he is rejected and that is taken off the table, he might decide to cut his losses because he wasn't looking for another friend. That coldness comes across as b…

Look friend, you're not abnormal. Plenty of folks are late-bloomers, it's been that way for ages. See the problem is that you think this is a gendered issue at all. Anybody who does not bring value to a relationship, should not expect to be swept off their feet by someone who does. At the very least, they shouldn't be bitching about thirst when a spring appears before them. It's fine to want someone out of your league, but don't mope about being lonely to everyone else when you've got options lol.

Unfortunately, there is such a thing as "too ugly", and it's pretty much different for everybody. Men and women alike are attracted to certain things, and neither should be shamed or resented for it. But, also probably shouldn't be openly weeping about it if you're going to be a choosy beggar xD

I have been approached by one single woman in my life. I could sense the crazy from across the room, but I still gave her a shot. Most men aren't in the position to just turn down women before we get to know them, unless there's literally zero attraction. What's fucked up is that she's right to a point, but she doesn't bother to figure out where that point lies. Same issue with most of the "feminists" (I put it in quotes because I respect actual feminists) I see online. They have zero actual life experience, where they have to take responsibility for their actions and their circumstances the way men do, so their feelings aren't tempered by silly things like "reason" or "facts". I mean, I don't think relationships are as bleak as all that, because if it's a good relationship both partners will invest and work towards a future as a family. But the dating game? It's fucked right now. A lesson us dudes (generalizing, obviously) need to learn is that we have value without women, just like they have value without us, and it's okay to be picky and alone. Also, while I don't think the whole "x-value male/female" stuff is wrong, I do think that it can be super divisive and objectifying to both men and women, so bear that in mind–values are subjective, and ultimately it's all in the eye of the beholder. I say "solve" because the urges may not go away with active self-monitoring and treatment, but the behaviors usually do. I think the movement as a whole has completed most of its goals, and really has nowhere else to go.
