Bad relationship with dad = get the fuck out of there. Respectfully disagree. This is like those woman who say "You gotta love your mama." We don't choose our parents. Some people get a raw deal in that department.

It's not rational to discount the article because it only studied baboons. In fact chimps are going to face the same alpha stresses they talk about. You see it in humans too: the biggest leader also has the biggest target on their back. CEOs, generals, and others may have the highest pay and power, but they're also under the highest scrutiny and pressure to perform.

Yep. 90% of evolutionary psychology is post hoc speculation. Also, it's stressful at the top: https://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/15/science/15baboon.html

All due respect OP, there's a lot of rationalizations in your story, including your own.

I'm in the same place as you, bro. You gotta start somewhere! Progress is progress.

I'm probably being the beta in this dynamic It's not in this context. You and your bro are peers (even if he's more successful, you're still in the same basic group, and he's exchanging with you). It would only be beta if you were being outright submissive to him, or to a woman. Like buying her tampons or some shit.

Congrats on this realization. I am in my late 30s and finally realizing how time (along with health and a friend network) is one of the most important things. Far more important than the shit society tells you is important (money, social media validation, etc.).

I know it sounds unimpressive, but when out recently I: made eye contact with beautiful women, smiled at a HB8 woman at work, asked a couple people for directions, made small talk with people I normally wouldn't, and extended the small talk with people I already talk with (e.g. coffee shop women). I'm coming off YEARS of relying on nothing but online dating, so I am having to start from scratch with approaching people in real life. Also working on holding frame. I sparred with a woman on Tinder …

Herpes is not entirely prevented by condoms, but they slightly reduce the risk — studies say by about 30%.

Most journalists are professional subject summarizers: the details of their subjects are either glossed over completely, or gotten wrong. There's the occasional hardcore investigative journalist who does deep research and knows their shit, but they're the exception.

I was once friends with someone who was married and hadn't had sex with his nagging wife for ages. I tried hinting at him that maybe he was BP but he came back with, "There are different ways of being alpha." Dude was deep in denial.

It is interesting how the very word feminism has bias in it. Maybe feminism once meant rational things like equality in voting, birth control access, etc. But modern feminism has merged with identity politics and SJWism and become something quite sexist.

Online forums like this are the result of the collective trying to solve a problem Right. I suspect for media on the left, BP is the status quo and their problem to solve is any threat to it.

Friends tend to be around in your life a lot longer than any given women, too.

I just took a big step. I deleted my OkCupid and Tinder accounts. I take the "red pill" stuff with a grain of salt (I think some of it's overly cynical and sexist). BUT there is some truth to what is said about in-person approaching people is 10x more effective and that online is largely a waste of time. And there's a lot of good advice about improving yourself (practicing approaching people, lifting weights, etc.). I figure I can't do much worse. I've had so little luck with online dating for a…
