I think the difference is that the harm of white supremacy to white people is only loss of societal efficiency. White supremacy enforces arbitrary biases that diminish meritocracy, thus making society less efficient even for white people. But there is no systemic harm specific to white people, which validates the idea that white supremacy positions white people at the top of a hierarchy. You cite genetic lineage however where we draw lines to separate lineages into ethnicities is where the social construct is created.
