Humans are always selfish. The ones who go their own way because they do as they like and the others who favour their group because it makes them feel safe. By the way, if the sinking ship was meant to be a metaphor for society let me tell you that the ship was damaged long before the current situation. But for politicians it is indeed a very pleasant story to tell to people.
