There is definitely a civil suit written all over this, but all her lawyer has to do is remind people that just because you have the right of way, doesn't mean nothing else in the world applies. If I, as a pedestrian, have the right of way to cross a street, that doesn't mean I get to walk in front of a car doing 40 mph and expect to not get hit. You enter the intersection because every reasonable thought says you can clear it, then something happens and you are now stuck. I have seen that shit happen so many damn times. I'm not saying she was in the all clear, but if there is a traffic jam, maybe you shouldn't be going lethal speeds through intersections. You do realize that you can find yourself in the middle of the intersection on accident right? Congested area, light turns green all cars are moving so you go into the intersection because it's your right of way, then all cars stop leaving you in the middle of the intersection with no other choice but to sit and wait. I've had this happen to me several times and I am careful to avoid being put in that situation, but shit happens.
