Hmm. Lots of variables. Every family is different. I lived 20mins away at start of divorce but worked 5 mins from schools. Now about an hour from kids but am 5 mins from new job. I work from their local library some days so can have lunch with, pickup, extra-curricular, etc. I know dads who have their kids 50/50 and sit on a their games/tv all day. Balance of quality and quantity. Advantage of renting is you can move as situation and market changes.

This was a lot to read. Might’ve missed some responses. Lawyer? Bankruptcy? If homeless - move to where she is for 50/50 to cut child support. It’s a struggle unless you can jump your income. Leave the car running in a bad area.

Happened to me a year ago then six months later he ghosted her and she found out via Facebook post. Keep focusing on you and kids. Everything else will take care of itself.

Did counseling years 3, 9, & 12. Was in a C marriage which was only declining and wanted an A or alone even. Were growing apart and I knew I was going to next phase in life (financially, emotionally). Couldn’t imagine being there with her to spoil it.

Ouch. I climbed corporate ladder and seemed like mine didn’t want a man at all, so I got out of there. May have to copyright this - “closet asexual”.

Agree on the wait until employed or add a clause about revisit upon her employment. Hopefully, she didn’t get a Master’s to make only $30k afterwards. 50-50. If you can’t stand to wait then take proceeds from house and save it. Small apartment or since no kids get a room/roomate for six months. Live frugal and see what happens in the fall.

Already remarried so it’s a no for me but my ex’s and my own parents both remarried after two or so years of divorce. Mine lasted two years more and hers up until one passed away. So many variables to factor.

Not in the least. Marriage was rough from the jump and kids (2) added a lot of joy to the house. Now what I didn’t expect was how much her attention shifted. Didn’t want to go on dates in the city cuz too far from them and babysitter. Spending $ like it was going out of style on clothes and activities.

Wishing the best. Gaming, gym, therapy, family time, certification/degree. Occupy your mind and time best you can. Try something new and challenging. Don’t dwell on past unless it’s real self-improvement related.

To each their own. I don’t go to anything she plans. I’m remarried and we have our own family events, trips, etc. Go to all their school n xtra events and if she’s there too, it’s a quick hi & bye.

This post is why Reddit exists right? Male vulnerability. Age 38, started dating instantly after divorce. Couldn’t pop current wife the first night; she stuck with me. Came n went for a month while dating long distance. Cut the porn and masturbation and still was inconsistent. Bought Hims and it worked well. Solution for me was the gym and time. We grew closer and feelings further away from ex. By 6 months I felt like a champ again. Showtime in middle of day, multiples on weekends, w/o pills. Th…

I wouldn’t say it’s over but you are on the last lap. Counseling yet? Either make up another acct, print them, or put in hidden folder. And also record her saying she made that shit up. My ex said something similar about choking from a time we were roleplaying (don’t ask). I told her if you think I truly tried to hurt you, then you shouldn’t stay with me. She never mentioned again or during divorce.

Lot of 50/50s. 80/20ish - every other weekend, 1x weekday, take to 1/4 of their activities. Live in the city about 45 mins away.

Do you send old friend a bday message, uncle you haven’t spoken to in years? Same response then. If it’s a AI prompted message on FB then so be it or silence and carry on.

Kept it simple. Had been basically living/working in other bedroom for maybe a month. We had counseling a few days before where I got clarity (3rd round in 12 years). Went on an hour long walk to clear mind. Kids were outside, she was sitting in kitchen. Walked up and told her that I want a divorce. Talked for ten minutes and left it there. Hired mediator in a couple weeks. Told kids maybe a month later.

Did she lie about how many men she slept with before you? Same difference. If you want her, then let it go and focus on future and building. That was a lot. Pressure bursts pipes - divorce exposes moments of weakness you didn’t know existed. No excuse for lying but she was afraid of your reaction. I told my ex I met a woman at a conference when in fact it was a Tinder swipe.

Very common. Some men called it off after the bad honeymoon. I stayed 12 years. Was a 7 at best and normally a 4. No chemistry. Went 6 months a few times with no nooky. If not for the kids and my robust masturbation game, I would’ve bailed long ago. New wife now who started like a nympho and has slowed to a few times a week. Had to take Hims at first to keep up but eventually my body reawakened the titan that was buried deep inside.

Ex college athlete. Adult life been filled with +/- 30 lbs shifts. Moved out and see kids less - dropped 30lbs working out 8-10x a week (2 a days). Steady girlfriend who I married and gained a whole 40 lbs. We both love eating at expensive places but she also loves to cook. Prepping meals together and walk/hikes now. Back on Nike training programs and hoping to keep it off for good. Health is more important than aesthetics at this point.

Thinking too small. I was talking to my new wife last night about how big the world is. There are 1,000 hers and you. Now finding them single/divorced, in your area, overcoming weird first date and divorce bias is the lower probability. I had good karma and luck I guess. 13 long years with ex & 3 years later now in the marriage I always dreamed about.

Keep the photos to remember the good times, (crop the ex out or not) Next place might feel like Air Bnb for a while but give it time and rebuild.

Totally agree with counseling for her individually and then couples. Was She was doing this before the kids? Did counseling 3x and then accepted it was never going to change enough. When my kids are with me I work to teach them but not overkill and eventually they get old enough to see which path in life they want to walk down.

Not attribute but surely exposed. Grateful for it. Revealed the struggles that the outings, trips, and distractions were covering for years. When you can’t visit anyone/anywhere else and still don’t spend quality time there’s only a few explanations.

Totally agree. Think about your life 18 more months from now and devote time and efforts that you’ll (and son) be proud of yourself and in a different space.

Wow. Mediation cost $3000. Now I probably gave up an extra $20k in alimony due to it.

Started at CS = 15% SS = 10% of gross in Georgia. Two kids, chained for 13 years. SS for 5 years with 3 more to go. Making more $ and bonus now and looking for a bigger gig by start of next year. Can’t even change LinkedIn profile for fear will come after me. She has a new job too, so it could even out. CS = 13%, SS = 8%.
