Outside of America it isn't nearly as common to have "core courses", they focus on your area of expertise. But our schools are de-facto for-profits so it makes sense to pile 200 kids into an feminized Intro to Psychology course taught by a grad student making a 30k a year stipend. I actually did the math on how long it would take for me to get another degree in an unrelated field, about 1.5 years since I took all the 'core classes' already.
