| 1 | Having mediation in DecemberIANAL. In many/most/all(?) states, the higher earner will pay child support even with a 50/50 arraignment. States use a formula based on each parties income and custodial time. In CA, my wife, who earns about 20k more than me, would pay $200+ a month in child support for 2 kids if we split custody 50/50. If she were to get 80/20, I would pay her something like $1,700 a month. Were I to get 80%, then she should be paying even more than $1,700. Lots of YouTube videos explaining this.
