Its just an easy way out for them. Society and their friends all accept it as valid. Nothing more needs to be said. Neatly places the blame on the man and she can go on her merry way. No fault for her.

Ya it doesn't matter. Thats what is expected of men. No matter what we keep going and try to appear as though things are fine. We dont want to worry those that care about us. Nor do we want to worry those we love. Men suffer in silence is a real thing and a big reason why men choose to take the only way they see out of that constant pressure and weight they carry. Its truly unfortunate.

Yes, I ask my son what he wants to get her and that's what we do. Has nothing to do with me and my relationship with my ex. Its strictly between them, I just have to implement my son's wishes.

Most likely trying to provoke a reaction. This makes it easier to justify her shit behavior.

That's how men are treated in family courts. Women are coddled, just like in the rest of their life. I dont have any real answers or suggestions for you. This is pretty much the norm, at least around here and with the majority of men i know who have to deal with this type of stuff. You need to understand that there is bias and have to work around it as best you can. Maybe a better attorney? For the most part thats just how it is.

Women can change with the wind. There is no point in anything involving trust. Have fun, be merry, whatever. Draw the line there and don't toe it.

Trashley, as to avoid confusing her with any other Ashley's of the world. Because well she is trash and I included her maiden name as well since she threw our marriage away she is unfit to carry my name anymore.

Doesn't matter. It's all the same pollution. It studies what you watch and feeds you more of whatever content you stay on or interact with. The microphone picks up conversations you are having in the real world and will feed that to you as well. Google something and then low and behold you have a bunch of ads for similar products in your social media. I wouldn't say the only reason for divorce to happen, but it can definitely play a fairly significant role. Much like friends IRL, you can find yo…

Man, im in the same boat. Late 40s. Burned a solid 20 years on my ex. Don't have the energy or the time to waste on women. Trying to keep my head above water while taking care of my house and being 50/50 for my son consumes pretty much all free time and available resources. So maybe its just a defense mechanism to protect my ego. Women just aren't on my radar at all. No urge to fuck, no urge to even speak to them. Seems I've just shut that part of my mind down completely. I can certainly underst…

I think some people don't understand what you have had to go through to continue on. Myself I've had to give up a lot of feelings and things I used to care about. My problem is that in doing so I have become very cold and uninterested in everything I was forced to give up. That's what I've done to survive and continue on. Unfortunately I don't know if I will ever be able to regain that part of myself by separating it from what happened in my marriage. For the time being it is what it is. Don't w…

Drop the fucking mic after that. This should be pinned somewhere. It has it all covered 100%. Well done indeed.

It sucks man. Some days the cold hard reality hits hard, others it's kind of dull or not noticeable. I miss my old life. Miss how my family was. Miss who my wife was. It's unfortunate, but all that is gone. What I have now is different. My life, my family, my now ex wife. Make the best of what you can, meaning your own life and your family you have now. Let her go and send the thoughts with her. Who she is now is not who she used to be. It helps me when I have missing moments to just think about…

Don't expect a snake to act like anything but a snake. Sometimes we ignore what we are seeing or choose to not see it as what it truly is. Trust me it was there all along, right in front of you. We ignore things, we sacrifice all for the greater good of the marriage until one day that isn't enough anymore. Move along with the lesson you have learned and make sure you remember it.

Tons of good advice in here. I know it sucks to hear, but it is the truth. She is done, probably has been for a while now. I would wager she has your replacement lined up and has most likely been banging him in your absence. Best to get out as cleanly and quickly as you can. Salvage what self respect you can.

Do what you want man. No one is you, no one feels what you do, no one makes and lives with the decisions you do. It's a fairly generic bit of advice and I struggle with a lot of it myself. I am older and was thoroughly committed to 1 woman for 20 years. Now I'm just supposed to throw all that away, get on the apps and whore around? Nah man. For some that may be the way, for me I haven't felt that is my path.

Nah man, let her go deal with her stuff without you. It sucks and is a struggle at times because you did/probably still do care to a point. She is an adult and as such can seek help for whatever she is going through. It's cold to say and do, but she isn't your problem anymore. I get you wanting to help her for your kid and that's commendable. Just understand that in doing so you are allowing yourself to be used by her.

It's interesting how similar things are viewed. A lot of guys on here and IRL share similar stories and I bet if you were privy to the female side of those same divorces their stories would be fairly similar as well. I guess a lot of it is perception and just the nature of differences between the sexes and how things are viewed. I would venture a guess if ever the complete truth was known and reviewed by someone or a panel from outside the marriage it would be somewhere in between the "he said, …

Eat better food and work out. I'm down probably 20 pounds total, but way more muscle and toned. Just basic exercise is great for your mind and soul right now.

It's going to take time my friend. It sounds like you are on a great path. You will have small setbacks here and there, don't lose faith, keep doing what you need to and the sadness will continue to fade.

Follow the words of wisdom from your brothers on here. They lay it out for us every day. It hurts and it sucks to go through. Just know that you aren't alone and there are others just like you willing to offer advice and guidance. Understand that some of that stings a bit, but it's actually what you need to hear and adapt to. Myself I miss my old life and who I remember my wife being. I also understand that life is gone, she isn't that person anymore, nor am I the same. So I drag myself through …

I wish I had some answers for you. I'm in a very similar situation. Unfortunately I am not as good looking, not as tall, not in as good of shape and not as wealthy as you. So you should be in a much better position in general. I suffer from similar confidence issues and have always drank to alleviate some of that. Now I am sober on top of it all. I haven't even attempted to dip a toe into any of that just yet. Coming up on a year since my world exploded. I will be watching this thread for tips a…

There isn't an easy answer. I'm still searching, trying to find my way as best I can. I'm 45 and too old for a lot of what I would recommend to a younger man. You may have to just try things until you find some sort of peace and happiness. I mostly exist for my son currently, it's the days without him that get darker. You need to find something to enjoy and that brings you happiness. I struggle with it as depression has taken all my joy from the things I used to enjoy.

Yep, not surprised at all looking back at it. Even ended up with a script for Zoloft hidden from the family as well. Add in the usual "support" from her friends and mother, sprinkle in the shit you are spoonfed on social media and boom....18 years up in smoke.

Congratulations, if that is truly how you are feeling you are free. I think that's what we all aim for. I know I'm not there yet, it's going to be different for everyone. Literally infinite variables. My biggest issue I think is the lack of even being able to explain my feelings to her. She went with the "im done with this and I'm not talking about anything i dont want to" route. Blame me for everything and 0 accountabilty on her end. At the end of the day it doesn't matter, it doesn't change an…

For sure man, I'm right there alongside you. Barely enough energy for myself and my son at this point. No interest in playing the dating games. Keep your head up man, it sounds like you are doing everything the right way.

Well done brother. No better feeling that stonewalling whatever shit they try to pull. She gets no attention, she gets no reaction, she gets none of your energy. That's a massive win for you and mentally a door shut right in her face. The best thing is they think banging all these dudes is somehow improving herself or their worth, the reality is with every notch she loses value.

The lack of communication and lack of taking any responsibility is my biggest takeaway from my marriage and IMO was fueled by a lot of what I see in these forums. Social media is infested with women preaching " if your husband does or doesn't do XYZ you should leave" "if you aren't happy with anything you should leave" "if you feel any of these he's a narcissist and you should leave" " if you have felt this in past you should leave" etc. Friends and family and coworker circles of women who are e…

I'm still in this phase, it may never go away completely. You miss who your wife used to be, you miss your old life. Those things are gone my friend. She isn't that person anymore, that life you used to have is just a memory. It sucks and I understand your feelings. You just have to understand it can never be back to what it was.

The number one factor is that the vast majority of woman have very little to offer me. Sex is cool and all, but you don't even really need to date if that's all you are after. Wading through the sea of trash to even attempt to find someone that brings more to the table just isn't worth the investment of time to me, at least currently.

It's tough, I'm in the middle of it myself. Nothing to feel good or happy about. Just anger, remorse and loneliness. A lot of people on here post about how good they feel eventually. I'm honestly having my doubts about that and battling a pretty gnarly depression in the meantime. Outside of the usual self improvement check list you see on here constantly I don't have any answers or advice. Just keep going is all I know. That's what I've been doing every day and sometimes I feel half ok, other da…

The worst part is feeling like I failed my son. Knowing that he will be judged by other parents and his peers as he grows up in vetween divorced households. The part that bothers me most outside of that is just realizing how alone I am. I have friends, I have family and they do care about me and want me to be well. But it's like on days when I'm down there isn't anyone to prop me up. No one to give me a hug and say "we'll get through this". It's just me all alone to deal with everything the worl…

Nothing seems normal or right as you put it. I'm about 4 months in at this point. Most days are a struggle for various reasons. Just know that you aren't alone and keep moving forward. Try to better yourself, things you may not have been able to or had the time to change while married you can do now. I've been exercising regularly, spending more time on my motorcycle. Trying to get comfortable with myself. I treasure the time I have with my son, but even then sometimes thoughts of my ex and old …

She can say anything is abuse. It's actually beyond ridiculous how easily that term is thrown around these days. Narcissist, trauma, gaslighting, abuse etc. All the current keywords they love to use when describing why they are divorced. All the man's fault and only applicable towards males. Females are simply exempt from committing such heinous acts

I don't have many answers for you currently my friend, as I'm in the midst of this shitstorm myself. The only thing I can tell you is that alcohol is not your friend. It never has been and it never will be. When my STBXW hit me with this divorce shit I had been drinking fairly heavily for about 30 years. Haven't had any since, don't really know why. Something in my mind told me I wouldn't survive this ordeal if I wasn't sober. So my #1 piece of advice to you is to not drink the stuff. Work on yo…

Protect your children, realize she is an enemy combatant at this point. I am currently refusing to sign anything due to the vague and non binding language in the generic version I was presented with. Time will tell where we end up, but I am not giving an inch when it comes to my rights as a father.

Ya that is really all we can do. I'm far from an expert though. My situation is she has burned the bridges to me being friendly and caring about her. She is the one who lied, cheated, manipulated etc etc. She isn't even worth being angry or upset about anymore, not worth the space in my head. I'm just focused on my child and doing what is best for him. She is nothing more than a stranger who looks like my wife at this point. Let her go be a piece of trash, show the world how truly low value she …

She wants to keep you around as the backup plan. I'm in the middle of my marriage ending and on good days I'm indifferent, bad days I'm angry. I do my best not to show the anger to her. Try to be emotionless and uncaring. Maintain no contact and if I do need to communicate with her about my child I keep it as short and indifferent as possible.

In the blender right now. Feel like I'm being told half truths and taking the majority of the blame for things. I would say I believe it could be salvaged, but she doesn't at all. She is out 100%, which makes me think there is more than what she has told me. Seems like a situation where she decided she wanted divorced and then came up with reasons why. A lot of old issues that were probably never resolved properly. A lot of things she never said were a major problem. I was never given a legitima…
