I understand what you’re saying now. It’s just the most extreme example possible. But the context is that even as an illustrative example, it could possibly have been prevented if Bezos had been loyal. I’m not saying there aren’t some women out there who would marry someone only to divorce them for money, but the stats in the original post imply that it’s frequently about infidelity or abuse. Those are two things that these men can absolutely control for. And this is going to become less and les…

It’s actually totally relevant. What I’m saying is that she had a big incentive to divorce him aside from the money, which is leaving someone who lied and cheated. She could have waited and gotten more if that’s what she really cared about because his net worth is only going to rise. You also keep making these claims that the reason for divorce is not in fact infidelity or abuse, but that women just want to cash out (with 0 sources I might add). But then you give an example that’s famously about…

Nobody has anything near what Bezos has. Also she divorced him after he cheated. And she’s known for being very philanthropic with her money while he has the opposite reputation. Not the best example.

But I didn’t, and I don’t agree with that. So I’m not going to argue with you about something I never implied. The only time I’ve heard the argument you just described is from men (often in conservative or religious circles) who want to claim that men aren’t responsible for their actions because they’re sexual creatures. It’s why conservative dress is imposed on women in those cultures - to avoid tempting men. Look at Iran… women are currently rioting in the streets because they don’t want to be…

Maybe that’s your task then. Make genuine friends first to fill your life up and get you the support system you need. Try to make female friends too - like with 0 romantic expectations. Especially early on though, you need to put a lot of effort into friendships. People have busy lives. To carve out a spot in someone else’s life and make yourself a part of it, you have to be pretty proactive as an adult. Invite them out, be the first to text, check in on them. If someone invites you out, make su…

First, you are not worthless. You are absolutely worthy of love. Someone would be grateful to have you in their life. Don’t rob them of that. But I imagine this lack of self-love is really evident to other people, which is why you’re struggling. So while finding a girlfriend or hooking up with many women may seem like the most natural solution, it’s actually the end-game, not the stepping stone. External love and validation should be additive to your life, not the foundation. Some of the other c…

I didn’t say anything about men being slaves to sexual desire.

My point is that men controlled the narrative back then. There’s no way you’d know if any of this is true because there isn’t a single woman weighing in. It’s men’s perception of women. It would be like trusting white American writers to accurately portray the experience of black people before slaves were permitted to write. Most of those accounts are horribly out of touch with what’s actually going on, and they have a lot of political motivation. In a similar vein, these accounts paint women as…

Umm… a lot of it is. Sure, some men prefer it. (None of the men I’ve dated have though, so I wouldn’t even say that’s universal.) But it’s also so that the beauty industry can scare us into believing our faces will melt off if we don’t start buying eye cream. The truth is, most women don’t really look that different from 23-26 and 26-29 if they take care of themselves, and especially if they don’t have kids. My story was anecdotal, but it’s certainly not unusual. Most of us don’t just shrivel up…

Exactly. Society conditions you to believe that you’re at your hottest from 18-23. That’s maybe the case for some people, but it’s not how everyone or even most people age these days. Many of my female friends are hotter at 28 and even 30 than they were at 18 or 20. We all took care of ourselves - ate healthy, got into some sort of physician activity and wore sunblock. Now we regularly get hit on by 23 y/o men who think we’re their age.

This is a good list - very close to what I’ve started using. And I ended up dating a guy who fulfills all of them. The problem (not with the list, but in general) is that it takes some life experience to recognize some of these things and the self-esteem to demand the others. And as others have said, it doesn’t always come in a bad boy package. One ex of mine was slightly above average looking, decent job, close to his loving family - great on paper. A few months in, the abusive behavior came ou…

This is at least part of what I mean. So good on you for going to therapy. I’m not a man, but I’ve been in therapy for years to work on self-esteem and other things. It took a while, but I had what felt like a big breakthrough a few months ago that shifted my mindset and self-perception. Seemingly out of the blue, I’ve been repeatedly approached by exactly the type of people who I would have never imagined could be interested in me. I’m seeing someone right now, so I haven’t pursued any of those…

Yeah, but it helps get you into a healthier headspace that will in turn increase your confidence and make it easier for you to get laid or more likely to find an equally healthy life partner.

Yep. Exactly. Reddit is full of men telling women to “pick better men.” This is just the other side of the coin. For a more concrete example: What do you think restricting abortion access in the US is about? It’s about forcing women to take responsibility for pregnancies they don’t even want (and in some cases could kill them). Single moms are literally facing jail time for NOT having these children that OP thinks are royally screwed up. Yet, there haven’t been any similar policies enacted to fu…

OP, I have three solutions for you if you’re so concerned about being trapped into parenthood. Don’t sleep with anyone you’re at all concerned will poke a hole in a condom. (Problem solved!) Bring your own condoms or get a vasectomy. (They’re reversible!) Bring up this exact conversation & your POV. It’s an excellent way to make sure you don’t get laid at all.

I don’t understand what you’re trying to say.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/22 09:01 PM

I never once said women are better at anything than men. In fact, I specifically worded it to say that we are socialized to do certain things more than men because I don’t believe the distinction is necessarily inherent to true masculinity or femininity. However, I do believe there are a lot of really toxic elements of traditionally masculine behavior that harms both men and women. But if you want to be mad about it and somehow blame women for that too, go ahead.

Women are just socialized to be more social. Culturally, women tend to have more familial and social obligations, but that also means we’re often more integrated into society by default. So we have the safety nets in place. Affection is also encouraged because women were traditionally raised to be caregivers. Whereas straight cis men are frequently worried about coming off as gay or needy if they show affection or have emotional intimacy with someone other than a partner. Rigid gender roles ofte…

Oh no. Ahaha. You’re upset because your trolling was found out, so you resorted to the classic “you’re not rational, but I am” rant. I didn’t troll you, man. You came in here guns blazing, inserting yourself into conversations you weren’t even apart of. Given how long you were at this, I was at least hoping you’d come up with a more clever sign off than “thanks for playing.”

Ahahahahaha. Dude, do you think I don’t see the other replies you wrote to this post? You clearly came here to troll. That’s what your entire account is. But it seems you don’t like being called out for the things you say or simply told why you’re wrong. And then… you demand an apology? That’s fresh. I’m just engaging still because it’s funny to see someone who so clearly has no idea what they’re talking about dig their heels in.

attention to detail is* wholly inadequate. So you’ve decided that because humans approve and fund certain studies, they must be biased and unreliable. But anecdotes are fine. Believe what you want, but if that were true, large corporations could just ask people for their anecdotes rather than repeatedly pay the money they do for studies like mine. But they keep commissioning research studies because they’re very useful for understanding and predicting human behavior. Many of my commercial client…

Some generalizations are actually just incorrect. If that weren’t true, I could generalize whatever I wanted and, by your logic, nobody could tell me I’m wrong because it’s “not valid” to refute them that way. We would call that an opinion in my field of work. “Studies are not better or worse than anecdotes.” Says the guy who claims to believe in reason and rationalism. I’ve also studied Greek philosophy, history and critical reasoning. If you had read even a critical reasoning 101 textbook, you…

It seemed like you were upset that I called out his incorrect generalizations without specific evidence of my own. And yet now, you also claim to distrust research and are throwing around baseless statistics. So there’s clearly nothing I can say to change your mind. This is just a personal thing for you. To be fair, I’m not sure what I would be arguing because I can’t find the point you’re trying to make in all of that garbled mess of a post. I still think you’re confused about what gaslighting …

“Listen, I’ve been wanting to try [insert bar, restaurant, hiking trail, etc]. I’d love to go with you. When are you free?” There’s something about how causal it comes off that I really like. It gives me the sense that he has stuff going on regardless, and he’d like me to be there, but it’s not a dependency for him.

I would be careful with this. Absolutely take it slow with her to avoid coming on too strong. You’ve only kissed after all. Do continue to see other people, but be selective and careful about who you sleep with if you actually like her. If I found out the guy I was interested in dating was sleeping around while I was starting to like him, I’d assume he was playing me and drop him. Plus if you’re not getting tested after each partner, you run the risk of getting/giving an STI. If you give her som…

It’s incredibly normal. You’re just starting to mature. People are all different, but generally speaking, relationships are more fulfilling than hookups, and you’re realizing that. So good luck. There’s always a chance it will end in heartbreak, but if you don’t give it a shot, you could miss out on some life-changing emotional & physical intimacy.

I don’t think you know what the word “gaslight” means. “Overwhelmingly correct” is also a generalization. The feminist movement he’s speaking of started before the 80s. The west has historically been a patriarchy. Which until very recently meant that economic and social rules were dictated by men. So if society hates men, that rule would have to have been instated and upheld by men. If there’s a particular point you’re trying to make, I can refute it with studies. But that’s impossible to do unl…

Ahaha. Dude, have whatever opinion you want. But an in-progress undergrad psychology major is not as impressive of a source as you think. Also, I do have a higher-level degree in psychology, and what you said is completely reductive and mostly incorrect anyway.

There are a lot of reasons, but it’s definitely not exclusive to women. This is a human thing that you’re probably noticing in women because you pursue women. But I’ll bite because we’re here right now. Sometimes it’s because she’s not sure what she wants. Sometimes it’s because she changed her mind after getting to know you and wants to let you down in a softer way than saying what she’s really thinking. Maybe she’s afraid to say what she actually wants because she’s conditioned to be a people …

Depends how well you know them and where you’re at in your “relationship.” I also tend to like kind of playful, silly flirting until I’m comfortable. Different women like different things, but these two would do it for me- Pretty early flirting: “Because if you don’t, I’m going to leave you alone. And you’re going to have to spend the rest of your life wondering how things might have been different if you had. That sounds pretty bleak. But hey, your call.” Things are heating up: “That’s not some…

Why don’t you go over and talk to her like any other person? I get that this is a seduction sub, but things always get broken down into this uncomfy predator/prey analogy. As a straight woman, my recommended approach: Go over and say the obvious “Hey - how many reps do you have left on X machine (or whatever)? By the way, I’ve seen you here a lot. My name’s X. Just wanted to introduce myself. What’s your name?” Chat a bit and then leave her alone. The next time you’re in the gym and see her, say…

Show a respectful, normal amount of interest. Then go live your life. Ideally, do both of those things at the same time. That looks like: -Only asking her out once. No response is a no. A lukewarm response is a no. And don’t unnecessarily double text. -If she asks to reschedule or for a second chance, only give it if she hasn’t done anything egregious and seems genuinely bummed to miss the first chance. -If you get a “no,” shrug it off and be nice about it. Then go have fun doing something else …

When I wrote this, I didn’t realize it might have this impact, but I’m really glad it did. You should be proud that you make women feel comfortable and appreciated - and that you do it simply by being the most comfortable version of yourself. Keep it up. My female friends are dying to meet a guy like this.

I actually have a lot more thoughts on this, and would do it if there were any interest. But, I hadn’t because like I’d mentioned, I know I’m not the target audience for this sub.

Straight F, here. This sub isn’t really for me, but I like to lurk because I find it interesting. I’ve been thinking about this for a while because I’ve started seeing a man with big Pete Davidson energy. A first for me, but it’s been amazing. So here’s my pretty lengthy analysis. You can take it or leave it. Disclaimer: There’s obviously the fact that he’s rich and famous, which is why he’s in these circles to begin with. But there’s also a reason why famous women keep picking him over other du…
