This is a good article for inner game on a META level.I would argue that defensiveness is an attempt to compensate for deficiencies, or at least perceived deficiencies, in one's personality/character by acting in a way that makes those deficiencies difficult to see or attack. If that is true, defensiveness can definitely be eliminated, either by fixing one's flaws or correcting a distorted self-perception, or at least through a knowledge of defensive behavior and will to avoid it.
