| – | No Contact from Daughter Following DivorceI don't know. She's an adult. So I don't have visitations where I'd have the chance to find out. Friends who know people in this situation have said it can be a need to support the mother and needing one of the two parents to blame. That those fathers they know have had their daughter show up years later and mend things. I'm hoping it's that version. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/06/26 11:59 PM |
No Contact from Daughter Following DivorceNo. Nothing like that. She is Japanese though. And there is a tradition of making children feel sorry for the mothers using martyrdom and sacrifice as a tool. Daughter always sympathized with whatever "plight" my ex was facing. Little to none toward me. Writing was sort of on the wall. Especially after the 2020s kicked off and I refused to kneel to the fever dream dogmas that became doctrine overnight, and polarized families from that time onward. And then the subtle jabs concealed as jokes abou… | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/06/26 05:00 PM
Mediator is suggesting that I accept 6.8% from the total marital estate. This is the way. Call the mediation off and lawyer up. The mediator is not doing their job and if your ex is willing to leave you near penniless, she no longer deserves reasonable compromise. She has declared zero sum game scorched earth war against you. Time to volley back at her. The person you loved is officially dead. In her place is a soulless enemy. Go to war. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/06/26 04:37 AM
Something I can never get pastTogether 30 years. Wife got para education job for benefits as backup to my job. Numerous co-workers were bitter divorced older women. We had challenges, a lot of resentment and contempt toward me, some legit some petty. But it wasn't until she 1) got her new female therapist and 2) started leaning on these bitter women for support that within the span of two months she became unrecognizable and went from, let's stay together for family and figure out how to make some arrangement work to I want … | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/10/25 05:12 AM
Not mentally ready for the first night aloneI don't watch much tv. So I would walk my dog, then do callisthenics, take my 5mile walk while listening to books, then bath and early bed. I have MDD since childhood, so the night can sometimes be full of terrors. If you like tv, then go with that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/10/25 05:02 AM
I just want to say I made my final child support payment today.Well said. Congrats brother. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/10/25 10:21 PM
I just want to say I made my final child support payment today. You are bitter and petty. This man was true to his word. Whether rulings were just, unjust, something in between. Whether the system is fair or unfair. He saw it through. You crap on his accomplishment by whinging about shit he, I, you, and others cannot control, but maybe societal change can influence over time. I'll celebrate it, and give men credit where due. Take your bitterness elsewhere. Or don't. But I'm not getting into feces flinging with you. Ta! | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/10/25 10:20 PM
I just want to say I made my final child support payment today. It's important for a man to keep his oathes, even if heavy. Men are made nobler and more aligned to their best self in doing so. You honored yours until it was fulfilled, to your children. You've put down this burden, but also gained something even more valuable | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/10/25 08:52 PM
How to accept the loss of a dream28 years together. Like you, I'm screwed. In tech, which I already knew was age discriminatory, on top of anti white male resentment from the India and China mafias in the companies. SAHM but like you, bit the bullet and forked over mass wealth for clean cut. I already knew retirement was going to be hard before but now, I know impossible. So leaving tech and retraining in profession I can work till I physically cannot, and where age is respected. And resign myself to fact that, at least I'll be… | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/10/25 03:47 PM
Monthly check in, how are you men holding up?You'll get through it brother. At first it seems insurmountable. And some days you just want to give up. But keep coming back here. All the things the vets say may sound like hollow truisms, but they are true. We all pay it forward to others in gratitude for the brotherhood shown us in our darkest hours. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/10/25 03:21 AM
Monthly check in, how are you men holding up?Dissolved two weeks back, after 30 years. QDRO underway to fork over 60% 401k. Working on paperwork to fork over 80% of company stock. But then I'm done. No more outflows, no more spousal support. Kids grown. No child support. Fresh start and keep anything I make. Zero plans to date as I live in part of country where mental health among women is endemic. And I'm older and refuse to put up with the games and double standards anymore. 18k steps a day, bofyweight callisthenics, banjo practice, lots… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/10/25 02:22 PM
I am afraid that I will be alone forever, and I can’t stop thinking about it.Marriage dissolved a week ago. October will be a year when she dropped the bomb. Moved out February. Had to sell home June. Daughter was buddy but after she moved out with ex, now estranged herself (needs a scapegoat I assume). Son in college. I, too, feared aging and dying alone. Haven't been alone in 30 years. But you know, my thoughts now, after seeing wife discard me, people I thought were friends ignore me, siblings not really give a crap because their lives are fine...I was alone the whole… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/09/25 12:16 PM
Nights Are Hard30 year relationship, 28 married. Wife moved out with adult daughter on Valentine's Day this year. (Son at college) Daughter and I were buddies most of her life, until after move. I haven't even seen her since June (and only briefly) and not socially since she moved out. Despite no infidelity or abuse or anything like that, and my wife initiating, I guess my reward for subjugating my wants and needs since she was born, is to be discarded. At least son still cares about me, but is hours away. I h… | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/25 11:17 PM
