What would your thoughts be on society/ the taxpayers paying for research into new forms of male birth-control?
/r/MensRights27/09/17 02:49 PM
1

Female birth-control only benefits men when women chose for it to do so, and in some cases, if a woman so choses, it can be detrimental to a man as she can claim to be on the pill, but not be. I'd rather put my money into research for male birth-control. And I don't think we should have to pay for their birth control. That's just my perspective though, and I'd be interested to see what others think

I think morality is subjective

And I am a man, and for me it goes: 30-35 > 25-30 > 35-40 > 18, 19

Choice no. 2 (appearance) pretty please. For several reasons. I want a LTR, and older women are probably more likely to as well Pretty much all of the women I'm attracted to (romantically) are in their late 20s, to their early 40s (early thirties is the best) Older women have more personality Older women are more mature Older women are more likely to be able to be financially independent

And I'm saying that I, and many other men don't want that
/r/PurplePillDebate07/09/17 03:40 PM

It isn't to me. If I'm with a woman, I'm loyal to her, and her alone, and I'm very very happy with that. I have absolutely no inclination to polygamy.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/09/17 03:26 PM
9

This is absolutely correct. To believe that you have to discard what everyone else in that thread said about valuing deeper, and more emotionally fulfilling monogamous relationships. I and many other men don't value humping women as much as you seem to. For many of us it has nothing to do with availability. It's simply a matter of not having the same values. Yes, there are many men, and possibly even a majority that are like you, but there are also many men that are like me, who have values asid…

I was being sarcastic. Why the fuck would anyone care if you think they're a failure. They can easily just look at themself and ask "yo am I happy" and when they answer back "yeah I'm happy", they go on to disregard your assertion that they're a failure.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/09/17 01:29 AM

Haha what utter bullshit. I'm pretty fucking effeminate, and I've gotten nothing but respect, and understanding from women. If you stand up for yourself, it doesn't matter how effeminate you are, you're going to be popular with the girls That has been my experience. If you're being effeminate, and someone begins to ridicule you, you tear them the fuck down, drawing on their insecurities; make them angry, or make them fucking cry, and then when they leave you alone, go back to doing your thing. I…

Oh no, someones is going to think someone else is a failure? How ever will the men in question get over it? Also, do you seriously think being a bit effeminate results in less ability to get pussy?

Can you provide a citation for the statement that only 4% of men are like this?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/09/17 05:57 PM

Same. Sadly, I looked into it, and it doesn't look like they released it. All they said is that money mattered to both sexes, but only significantly to women.

My being a MGHOW means only that; I'm going my way. This doesn't mean my way shouldn't include women. I'm probably still going to seek out a LTR, a FWB sort of thing though as I want to remain independent, especially financially. My life though will never be centered around a wife, or family. MGHOW is a declaration of my independence. That's all I'm saying, really. Just wanted to clarify!

/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 11:21 PM
1

The exact same way a vagina can get injured; friction. Penises aren't sharp or anything if that's what you were thinking. They're made of sensitive tissue, just as the vagina is.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 11:11 PM
1

Vaginas are self-lubricating. Also, I was suggesting a woman would be able to bite your dick off. Seems like that could potentially be pretty harmful as well. Also, don't you realize mens penises can also be injured from PIV?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 10:57 PM
5

How is penetration violent? A woman may pentrate the mouth of her child with a spoon, but I don't see how that's violent
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 10:55 PM
5

I don't know. I think penetration is just as violent from a mans perspective. I mean, the vagina does devour the penis doesn't it? Also, blowjobs. What's more submissive than letting a woman put your cock in her mouth? One tiny decision on her part, and there goes your manhood.

Huh, I didn't know that. I guess that explains why our PM is able to get away with not keeping many of the promises he made to us during his campaign. I guess you're right then in that women should have to get it in writing that he is going to financially support her children should she choose to go through with a pregnancy.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 05:01 PM
1

You mean like women currently have the legal right to do?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 04:55 PM
2

Well I do think forcing a man to have to pay for a child for the next 16-18 years of his life also results in physical, and emotional costs.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 04:12 PM
1

If it has a financial aspect it is, isn't it? I'm just looking for clarification.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 04:06 PM

You guys keep missing the point. The point is that a woman should not have the right to make financial deciaions on behalf of anyone but herself
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 04:04 PM
1

Really? Thr US doesn't have verbal contract laws? Also women in the US don't sue for alimony?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 01:26 PM
7

The only thing young men here are arguing they shouldn't be responsible for is young womens decisions
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 02:02 AM
3

I've seen nobody ITT suggest that women should have to pay the full costs of the abortion.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 12:33 AM
2

I'm actually Canadian, and in my country abortion is legal (it was made so by the father of our current PM), and paid for by Medicare. My country is also even worse when it comes to mens rights than it is in the US, having common law marriages, and the likes. So, I do feel it's more my duty to voice my support for this. That said, I'm willing to do more financially, or by voicing my support online. Do you have any suggestions?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 12:31 AM
2

No, and I sympathize. As far as I know an abortion is a lot like a miscarriage, which I've been told is like a really bad period. My mom has had two miscarriages, and she used to get her periods really bad. So obviously I'd want to make this as easy as possible for the woman. I think most of the men here would agree I don't think the men you're talking about would be the majority; maybe they'd be a large minority, though I don't see that as a reason to not give us the right to statutory abortion…
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 12:13 AM
2

If she decides to go through with a pregnancy, that's exactly what she's doing. A child in the US will cost a couple hundred thousand dollars, at least
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/17 12:06 AM
3

Really? In this situation the decision for both the man, and women are the same. For the man: statutory abortion, or not, and for the woman: abortion, or not
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 11:57 PM
2

Ah, so the costs only matter when it's effects a woman. Brilliant. Well, I'm not like you, and I'd be more than happy paying half, hell even all the costs for an abortion.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 11:55 PM
3

And she has no right to make financial decisions on my behalf.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 11:47 PM
7

Statutory abortions would no more "let men off the hook" than abortions let women off the hook
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 11:42 PM
1

I'm not too familiar with the US legal system, but isn't it already so that if a man makes a promise, verbally or in writing, then said promise is legally binding, meaning what you said would be a non-issue?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 11:38 PM
5

My point was that your argument is fallacious
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 11:28 PM
5

Sperm-donors. That's essentially what we're talking about isn't it? I mean, a sperm-donor consents to his sperm being used to produce a child, but he isn't also consenting to being financially responsible for said child. And that's exactly what everyone here is arguing.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 11:07 PM
10

Sorry? I'm suggesting that the responsible decision if she can't support the child by herself is abortion
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 10:47 PM
2

So?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 10:46 PM
9

Not if the woman makes the responsible decision
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 10:43 PM
17

I think many women would probably prefer men have to pay for all of their decisions, haha
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 10:40 PM
9

Are women incapable of responsibly deciding to abort the child?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 09:48 PM
5

Ah, thank you for clarifying!
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 09:46 PM
3

Can you clarify what you mean by that?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 09:43 PM
6

So you're saying that women are incapable of doing what is responsible, and aborting the child?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 09:42 PM
7

There are also many men who do responsibly use birth control, and then still get fucked over financially.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 09:40 PM
10

Not RP, but I do hold the perspective that he should be given the right to statutory abortion. Here is my quick reponse to your post, and it's points: Why exactly shouldn't men be responsible for where they put their penis, and what happens to their sperm? Why exactly shouldn't women be responsible for where they put their vagina, and what happens to their eggs? In the vast, vast majority of pregnancies, conception occurs after the man voluntarily deposited his genetic material into the woman. I…

Do you need a stats lesson? Because unless you have a representative sample, you absolutely can't make generalizations

Jesus, that's crazy.

/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 06:55 PM

I think sample size, and representation is important when it comes to any generalizations. Not just about men. As such, I've called out generalizations made both by men, about men, or about women, and by women, about women, or about men. I'm also not aware of any generalizations that I may have made, and with all my anecdotes I've made sure to frame them in such a way that it's clear that I'm not generalizing, and am only talking about my personal experience. Also, I'm not red, I'm purple, and I…

/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 03:28 AM
7

Hahaha when we're horny, yeah. But not because we actually want children. It's more like our mind turns off, and our body becomes an extension to our penis, with no morality, and no sense of responsibility; the penis only cares about what it wants. But literally at the instant we cum, our minds return, and sometimes we're like "what the fuck". Seriously, if I'm watching porn, the instant I cum, I can't watch the porn anymore, and I'll have to exit the webpage even before cleaning up a meme
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 03:26 AM
2

Have you ever considered that maybe your looking all the posts through a lens?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 12:57 AM
1

I think it's more so that men don't tend to give unattractive women the time of day, and thus will probably never know if she is, or isn't interesting. That said, at least for me personally, even if a woman is attractive, if she doesn't have any interest in psychology, or philosophy (my interests), I'm probably not going to find her very interesting.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 12:53 AM
1

And that is exactly why men should have the right to statutory abortion. It's a matter of fiscal autonomy.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/17 12:44 AM
1

Yes I'd be OK with taxpayers opting out. I do have one more question for you. Why should a woman be allowed to abort her baby when according to you, both the woman, and man agreed to the baby by having sex?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 10:59 PM
1

Well if it's as common as you guys are saying it is, then there should be terminology for it as there's terminology for virtually everything else
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 10:17 PM
1

You guys may be right. I mean, reddit is about 3 quarters male, and 1 quarter female, and you can clearly see (if you have NSFW) posts enabled that there's far more pictures of attractive women than men. That seems to support your statement. Biologically it'd make sense too due to the differences in biological roles of men, and women. Though about 40% of American women watch porn regularly. So I don't know. I'd really like to know what this is called so that I can look it up, and possibly sugges…

My personal opinion is that willing parents, unwilling parents (let it be known or were absent pre-birth) and then the taxpayer should be liable in that order. And mine is that it should be willing parents, then consenting taxpayers in that order. It's ridiculous for you think it would be fair to slap it all onto an unwilling parent. I still believe that his decision resulted in the child Well I don't. All he did was provide her with some DNA; a byproduct of sex. I don't see why a woman should t…

Such women should then be able to get support from the government, as should any couples that together decide to have a child when they're able to handle the costs, but then later run into problems. I'm quite happy as a taxpayer to contribute to supporting such women. As a taxpayer, I'm quite happy contributing to supporting any children the result of irresponsible parents, but in this cawe that you speak of, I'd not even be annoyed. And just in case you're wondering, no, I don't think such a wo…

If a woman can't herself pay for a child, or get a man to consent to paying for a child, she should get an abortion. And if she refuses ro get an abortion, maybe then she should be permanently sterilized as she has become a burden on society with her irresponsibility
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 07:21 PM
1

I don't even think the majority of man-woman couples could find an extra 21k in their budgets tbh, which is one of the very reasons women have the legal right to get an abortion - that is, so that if she does get pregnant, she isn't automatically financially hampered. This is why I think men should have the legal right to statutory abortion. I have been very careful not to have a child so far. As a taxpayer I don't see why it should be me when I've taken most reasonable precautions. So you're a …

In a different way. Women have an insight into the female psychology that a man can't have; a man can only go off of what he perceives, personal experiences, and what he's told.

These fantasies happened several times throughout the series. She is clearly sexually attracted to both Eric, and Bill at the same time. And what about TVD? Haha now you're making up random unlikely situations. What if both the man, and woman are able to provide at the time, but then get sick/lose their jobs/hit other financial difficulties? Who is paying for the child if not the taxpayer? I'm asking how (in practice not theory) The same way in our current day that a great deal of men are the sole providers for a their families. Is a woman not as capable as a man? I think she is.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 05:03 PM

No it's given by society. Abortion wasn't even widely legal in the US until quite recently, and in the muslim world is still widely illegal. A mans opting out removes the responsibility from one person, while a womans opting out removes the responsibility from two people. That's really the only difference. Again, if the woman is unable to provide for a child, and unable to get a man to consent to providing for a child, she should abort it. Why is it that you expect men to do the reaponsible, but…

As a MGHOW who also used to frequent /r/MGTOW, I think I'm somewhat able to answer this. First of all, being a MGHOW for me means just that; I'm going my own way, that is I'm not willing to compromise for anyone; not to a woman, not to a man, and not to society. This doesn't mean I'm not interested in a LTR, just that in such a relationship, I'm not going to allow anyone to step on me, and I'm not going to make any compromises. I have no intentions of adjusting any of my morals, or lack thereof,…

The data was input at points, and as such theres no way to know when after 4.5 — and actually, from looking at the graph its 4.17 that the data was input —, which thus could mean that the actual distribution curve goes down at any point after 4.17, including at 4.5. So while I may be wrong, without access to the raw data there's no way for either of us to know. I was interpolating from the available data. If the woman doesn't have the money she shouldn't be having children. It's irresponsible of women, and unfair to men. And again, the woman has two opportunities to opt out, one of which overrides any opt in by the man, while he only has the one opportunity. The initial opt in by the man, and woman can be done responsibly, by wearing condoms, or using another form of birth-control, yet with any birth-control there's a chance the woman becomes pregnant. In which case a woman has the legal right to…

Your analogy sucks, as Timmy doesn't have final say as to whether or not Timmy gets to school on time, as is the case with women having final say as to whether or not she has a child, and a man has to pay child-support. Also, the consequence isn't even comparable. He misses a few minutes of school, while a man has to slave away for 16+ years paying for this child that a woman decided to have. The Twilight series, TVD, and True Blood are the ones that come to mind. I'm not saying polygamy is bad, or that a majority of women are polygamous. I'm just not convinced by the anecdote of a single woman that women are generally only sexually attracted to one man at a time.

I said romantic movies and TV shows, not "sitcoms". I was referring to the massively popular Twilight series, TVD, True Blood, and Hemlock Grove specifically. Jesus I watch a lot of vampire shows. There's also the fact that I also have spoken to a lot of women very in depth about sex, sexuality, etc., especially when I was in HS, and they indicated to me that they were just like men, just as polygamous, and just as slutty. /r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 04:30 AM

Great. "Lots of women" doesn't mean women in general. You sound like /r/MGTOW with their talk of AWALT, and unicorns. I just find it strange that: A. I've never heard of this prior to you saying it B. That you don't even know what this concept which is apparently so common, and which you have apparently talked to "lots of women" about is called C. There are so very many "romantic" movies, and TV shows where a woman is not only attracted to several men at a time, but literally polygamous, and the…
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 04:24 AM
1

No it wouldn't, as ALL men already have to provide child-support to the mother of their children, even though they haven't signed any contract
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 04:13 AM
3

Not only that, but it became more popular than the actual women in the brothel
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 04:10 AM
3

😆 sounds a lot like the women that can only get off to vibrators tbh
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 04:08 AM
1

OK but why would these "betas" not sign the contract then? The risks of not signing the contract would literally be exactly the same as they are today.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 04:02 AM
1

I literally had no clue women were like this. Can other women verify that she's not just speaking for herself, and women are actually like this? Also, shouldn't there be words for these concepts? I mean the words monogamy, and polygamy refer to actual sexual relationships.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 03:57 AM
1

So you're saying that women can only be attracted to one man at a time?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 03:40 AM

What do you mean when you say you're "involuntarily-celibate"?

Meaningful to who? You?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 03:33 AM
1

Ah, so you're saying that both men, and women are polygamous by nature?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 03:32 AM

And why are the women in those relationships?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 03:30 AM

the hottest gets the most by far Sort of, but there was a drop-off point beginning around a rating of 4.5/5, and women rated 5/5 got the same amount of messages as women rated 2.5/5. Graph1 Also you can see from that graph that men rated about half of the women as being above-average look, and half below-average, meaning men, while as you can see from the following graph, women apparently have no clue what the "average-attractivenes" means 😆: Graph2 Either that, or maybe they intentionally under…

Are you saying that women are only ever attracted to a single man?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 03:09 AM

Does it matter to you if your mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, or son look "shitty" as you say? Or if your friends look "shitty"?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 03:01 AM
4

I agree, by that definition, we're all as hypergamous as we can be And to respond to your statement that "men are polygamous by nature" personally, I'm not at all. I just can't see myself ever wanting to have several women
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 02:58 AM

"Potential" by itself has absolutely no meaning. Potential for what?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 02:48 AM
2

So? If you don't like your relationship, exit it. There's no reason for him to lower his standards if he can get something to his standards
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 02:46 AM
2

Nobody's stopping them
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 02:44 AM

Seriously, I think sexbots becoming a thing would just thin out all the terrible relationships
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 02:43 AM
3

Huh? It would be your decision to use them
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 02:27 AM
5

What exactly is being meant by "hypergamy" in this context?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 02:20 AM
3

I know I may not be in the norm, but there's no way I'm going to be with any girl that doesn't support herself financially. Not because I'm lazy though
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 02:10 AM
1

Can you clarify what you mean by "way too loving"?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 12:37 AM
1

Come on you know why Well I don't, so could you please answer the question?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 12:32 AM
1

The decision of the man only indirectly, and unintentionally results in a child. Indirectly as a woman bearing a child can abort it; a womans decision is final, a mans "decision" if you'd call it that, isn't. And unintentionally, in the case I'm arguing for, as the man in question has no intention to have children. If a murderous cannibal invites you to have dinner with him, you know there's a possibility that he's a muderous canibal, and I know there's a possibility that he may decide to murder…
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/17 12:21 AM
2

I think it makes more sense that the person who decides to have a child should he responsible for it. And that person is the woman, not the man.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 11:18 PM
1

So those men sign the contracts then? It would result in literally no difference to them. Tell me would that be any different than how it works today; where whether be you an "alpha", or "beta", the law demands that you pay child support? If anything, as a beta you'd get more sex, as people like me wouldn't be willing to sign the contract, and thus all the women we turn down for that reason would still be swimming around in the pond. I'm not interested in any woman that would be unwilling to res…

But if he "doesn't believe in" abortion, it's fine? Or would it be that if they agree prior to sex to having a baby, then she can't then opt out by getting an abortion? That would be fair, no? Or are you seriously arguing that women should be allowed to opt out whenever they damn well please, and that shouldn't apply to men? And I said three months, meaning she would have enough time. I don't know. Honestly I'd rather have what you're proposing than what we currently have, and the issue stated a…

6 months isn't long-term?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 02:15 PM

You say both parties opt in when they have sex. But a woman can then opt out, anytime in the next three months. Why wouldn't it be fair to allow men statutory abortion for those three months? How would that not be the fairest way?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:41 PM
1

Men absolutely would have the choice not to sign it. I wouldn't sign it. I'm a man. And saying that "any man who has sex is basically agreeing to taking on the responsibility for fatherhood" is like saying the exact same thing for women, and hence women shouldn't be allowed to opt out by getting an abortion. I actually agree with the men saying that the most fair thing would be to allow men to opt out up by statutory abortion up to the point when women can no longer opt out by getting an abortio…

Which matters why exactly?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:23 PM
1

Well I've looked it up, and I'm really suprised as to how effective pulling out is. I don't know man, I just think the sort of invisible birth controls like fertility awareness, pills, and many other things women have access to give them more control, as they're more desirable since they don't interfere with the sex itself, and as women can lie about them
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 03:59 AM
1

If the woman is healthy, and not going through puberty, or menopause, they should be pretty consistent, no? And shouldn't that mean she has more control than him? Unless there's an area where men have more control with regards to whether a woman becomes pregnant that hasn't been mentioned?

Her being with more wealthy guys than you is only really relevant if she's both the one who dumped them, and if she had no reason to suspect that they were going to eventually dump her; a sort of hypergamous foresight :P
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 02:53 AM
1

I'm not arguing that men don't have any control.. I'm arguing that the control women have is more than that which men have. Also, I made a mistake when I said 78.6% as I didn't include how long sperm can survive in a womans system, which is no more than 7 days, putting the percentage at 57.1, which is much less than I had originally stated, but still a significant figure, no?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 02:49 AM
1

I do believe you when you say that. And for whatever it's worth, I feel initially I read too much into your words when you were saying "men wouldn't agree to this", "they", etc, and I do feel bad about sort of jumping to the assumption that you were generalizing men, when your comment could have been read in such a way that you were only referring to a not-put-forth quantity of men, rather than all men. I'm sorry about that. To clarify this has to do with my original telling you off for generali…
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 02:42 AM
3

No, but because women clearly have more control over whether or not a pregnancy occurs, considering she should know the six days in which she can get pregnant, giving her at least 78.6% more control just from that if she is healthy, and keeps track of her cycle. There's also the fact that as I mentioned earlier, there's practically no way for a man to know if a woman is, or isn't on the pill. That again gives women more control over whether or not a pregnancy occurs. All I'm saying is that the s…

You linked the post afterwards. I'm not sure if you're trying to gaslight me, or if you sincerely don't understand what's going on, but here is the chain of events: At 00:31:03 you posted this comment, which I have already established included no proposition, but declarative statements. Therefore, I didn't respond to any proposition, as none had yet been made. The words "opting out of pre-sex" don't form a proposal. That's not even a sentence. What you said was "I'm fine with men opting out pre-sex", which is a declarative statement - also not a proposal. Your assumption in this case is on you, not me. And I assumed you understood what I meant when I said "and for this reason, as soon as I'm able, I plan on getting a vasectomy". This assumption that I made was on me, due to my poor formatting of the sentence, and not making it clear that those very wo…

So you really expect me to believe that men are against having more rights than they currently have? Uh huh, I think maybe you misread what they were saying, or are misrepresenting their perspectives. Also, why in the world do you think because "tons of guys" have said something to you, that "the majority of men" are a certain way?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:38 AM

You said "men wouldn't agree to that".. It was those five words I was arguing against, not against any proposition that you apparently made - which I've got to say, I've read it four times now, and I still don't see you proposing anything, but rather arguing that "men wouldn't agree to it...", "they want no responsibility for the consequences...", and "men don't really want fairness...". Here is the comment I was replying to, in full: I'm fine with men opting out pre-sex. Everyone knows the pote…

No, I get that, I was just pointing out that what you said is false
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:22 AM
2

Wtf no it isn't. You were arguing that "men wouldn't agree to that". And I was arguing that you didn't know what you were talking about, as I, a man, A. make it known that I don't want children, and B. am going to get a vasectomy. Do you understand now? https://www.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/6xggoi/what_is_the_rationale_for_men_having_to_pay_child/dmg85cl/

Can you point to the comments which lead you to generalize that all men "wouldn't agree to that"?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:13 AM
4

Really? There are only six days during a womans menstrual cycle when she can get pregnant. Also she can say she's on birth control, when she's not actually. I really don't see how you can think men have even close to equal control over a potential pregnancy.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:10 AM
1

I'd like this
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/17 01:07 AM
3

Really? Are you sure you aren't making that up? Because I'm a man, and for this reason, as soon as I'm able, I plan on getting a vasectomy. That and literally everyone I know knows I don't want children. I'd like to see some evidence for your blanket generalization about what 'men want'.

Purple here. When I see someone say AWALT I think they mean that the majority of women behave a certain way. My perspective is that it may not be the majority (edited: autocorrect fucked me), but if you have a large amount of guys saying AWALT about something, then there's probably at the very least a large minority of women that behave in that certain way. And so I take those AWALT statements as warnings. This doesn't mean I avoid women completely. It only means that I'm not going to ever willi…

Both my mom, and sister will refuse to ever admit they're wrong, or in the wrong, and if you give them solid rational as to why they're wrong, they throw a fit, and either become extremely nasty, with threats, and attempts at gaslighting, or if that doesn't work they'll give you the cold shoulder. False analogies when approached with intellectual honesty, inherently lead to going off topic. Which is the exact reason that with my last two responses I ended by pointing back to the original discussion. But that's not what you want. What you suggest, is to take the analogy as a perfect representation of non-consensual sex, which it most definitely isn't, and then to try and argue against the original principles as to why it's non-consensual sex, and why that's wrong, through the analogy, but …

I don't know, there's just something so alluring about being involved with a being that could hurt you, and possibly hurts others, but decides not to do so to you, out of a liking of you. This goes against my personal philosophy of self-preservation, as I couldn't ever know if such a being is going to continue to like me. analogies help strip biases about a subject I disagree. I think, often, they just replace biases with other biases. In the case of the analogy OP presented, the biases were held firm, with men being assumed to be the "doers", and women the "done". I have issue with that. Of course your reframing of the analogy took away that issue, which is good, but there are still issues, which I'll go into. you don't understand why anyone would use analogies Well, I mean, that's true, I don't understand why a…

If he's using it to defend a perspective, I'm going to attack it, as anyone who may disagree with him would do. If you don't want someone to deconstruct an analogy, don't put it forward. Maybe that would be best actually, so that we can look at the arguments at face value, rather than using what's essentially whataboutism to defend our perspectives. Well now that you have framed your analogy in an alternate way, its at least it's not biased. However, there's still the issue of permanence.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/17 09:46 PM

Which is another reason this analogy is terrible; sex, often, is spontaneous, and takes little, to no work.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/17 09:39 PM
1

I don't think it's a good analogy because it insinuates that men are the tattooists, while women are the customers. Sex is completely different. I mean, this analogy automatically makes you biased one way. I'll demonstrate this to you with an example of a drunk tattooist, and non-drunk customer. Is your perception of this situation different? There's also the permanence of tattoos, and impermanence of sex. This analogy falls apart more and more the closer you look at it.
