Really pleased to hear you are doing well. May you go from strength to strength. I believe you will.

Can I asked if you reached out to people and were open and talked about your feelings when you were going through it? I’m trying to do that with safe people in my life think it would be so much harder without that. I desperately don’t want to end up bitter

That sounds like such sound advice and I really appreciate it. I will take a screenshot of your response to refer to in future. I’m extremely pleased to hear that you are now doing so well however. The ethical decisions comment really resonated with me as I recognise that this is not my current experience, it’s searching for relief and stimulation which usually leaves me feeling worse afterwards.

Such a compassionate response from one who’s truly been there. Thank you. Really nice to connect with someone who understands. Most people don’t or they say really unhelpful things (they think you want to hear!) or they react as though you’ve told them you have a terminal illness (I’m literally having as little contact with my parents because although there response is out of love, it’s so filled with judgement for my wife and emotionally heavy, that it always leaves me feeling worse). I appreci…

Great post. It’s only been just over2 months for me now and nothing has practically changed yet but it’s certainly going to soon (our house is up for sale). I couldn’t escape the grief and shock for the first week so I had to stay with it, and I processed so much and came to a place of acceptance and stability I never thought possible. Since that acute phase however, my days have just become a cycle of stimulation seeking: vaping, sexual messaging, better, unhealthy food. It’s become so compulsi…

Consider making this a spicy part of your life. I probably can’t imagine any shit that he less likely wants to here than that! Talk about tone deaf

What was the most difficult part for those 3 years if you don’t mind me asking. I’m in the very very early stages and nothing practically has changed yet

Mental health really does take its toll on a marriage. I’m currently going through a divorce when my wife came to the decision just over two months ago. I suffered with quite severe OCD since our relationship began and it really took its toll on our marriage to the extent that no longer feels the same about me. It’s shit but it is what it is, and hopefully it will be best for everyone going forward. I have two young kids but currently there’s no toxicity or bitterness and the kids seem fine abou…

I think therapy for yourself to work through this from your perspective is good advice.

This sounds extremely tough, and that’s an understatement. I’m also getting divorced and have two kids but your situation makes me realise how positive my situation is. I’m not telling you this to make you feel worse, but to let you know that I truly empathise (as much as I’m able to) with how truly hard this must be for you. Feeling hopeless is to be expected but I can tell you are STRONG and that you will get through it and that things will start to get better at some point. The fact you wrote…

I’m in the same boat, my friend. She ended it 7 weeks ago and it feels like a lifetime in some ways. It’s hard and I know there’s so much hard times to come but you’ll find a strength and resilience in your self, and might even come to recognise how long you’ve been unhappy and that you’ve neglected your needs for too long. Take every day as it comes and feel what you need to feel. Talk to people a lot too, those you trust and can rely upon to listen.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
