I agree. Why did my comment need a disclaimer about medical advice, while you were very comfortable giving medical advice without the disclaimer?

Eeek, those can migrate and cause perforation. Also must be removed by a provider if there are issues - kinda upsetting that you cant just stop on your own if needed like a pill/patch/ ring. Also most IUDs are hormonal, unless you are talking about the copper one? Copper is effective by causing long term inflammation to prevent implantation into the uterine lining. Hormonal is not recommended if you are at increased risk of breast cancer. Popular but there are considerable risks.

Does he want more kids? If no then what is the alternative? He should not do anything he is not comfortable with. But a blanket refusal doesn’t solve the underlying issue, how is the couple going to prevent pregnancy? Hormonal birth control puts a lot of health risk on the woman to manage, as well as practical/ logistical responsibility to monitor, make appointments, refill, etc. so it makes sense that his wife is looking for another way forward.
