He pointed out your illogical argument. Maybe not with as much tact as you would have liked, but he's right. if something is fine to do just because, it's certainly fine to do for religious reasons. A vegetarian can not eat pork and that's fine, but with your logic if they don't eat pork because their Muslim or Orthodox Jew, then they're somehow "wrong"? Your argument was absurd from the get go.
