And you are blocked. If the mods NEED to tell me anything in the future, and I'm sure they won't, then someone else will have to do it. I'm sure that isn't a rule violation; I'm free to block any user. Good bye and keep fighting for what we believe in.

The way reddit hides comments is flawed. I have fixed it, and there is nothing you can do about it. This has nothing to do with responsibility. I refuse to downvote a comment that has 1 upvote (i.e. no upvotes) because it will hide that comment and silence that person, unless they are offering genuinely harmful information, in which case I'll downvote and report them as well. I'm happy to downvote comments that have upvotes already, but downvoting new comments is off-limits.

That's a thoughtful response. Unfortunately, im going to have to delete my original comment now and repost it because you downvoted my comment to zero, reducing visibility of both our comments amd effectively silencing my voice. Feel free to reply to the new comment, and maybe i'll read your reply next time.

I understand this problem better than most, unfortunately. I've been part of two communities of abuse survivors for several years. There isn't a single member of either community who would stand behind sexist generalizations like this towards either sex. Well there were a few a handful of times, and they were shut down every time. Anyone who has been in that situation can read the words of another victim--what they went through--and have an intuition for their sincerity and the truth of their wo…

I think it's pretty simple. Sexual harassment is clearly defined where I live (US), as law. A single instance of an unwanted sexual advance, even propositioning someone directly for sex, is not sexual harassment. It requires a pattern. The victim has to make their discomfort known, or a reasonable person would have to believe that the behavior is unwanted and harassing without being told so. This is separate from sexual coercion, of course. A single instance of sexual coercion is a crime. No rej…

It's a case of getting too friendly with science. If it backs up your assertions for decades and hinders your opponents then you get comfortable with it. Then it comes as a shocking betrayal when science dictates that one of your beliefs is wrong. It can't be science; it must be someone perverting science. It doesn't help that there really are researchers out there perverting science for political goals, but naturally if someone publishes research that contradicts a viewpoint then someone will s…

Many women turn to feminism after being badly hurt by a man who was close to them. For awhile after suffering abuse, people are justified in having coping mechanisms to keep themselves safe while they work through what happened. A common coping mechanism is to take easily identifiable qualities of the abuser and mistrust anyone who shares those qualities. It's easy to identify whether someone is a man or not, so that's a common quality that is used. In the months following an escape from an abus…

I see your point and I apologize for generalizing, but I don't think it's a bad thing if some women think that way.

I decided to take a look at the sub for fairness' sake. It's a bit better than it was a few years ago, but now it's about 50% posts about women and 50% posts about doing fun hobbies and exploring what it means to eschew relationships. It needs to be 100% doing fun hobbies and exploring what it means to eschew relationships. There is no room in a MGTOW lifestyle to talk about women, let alone love/hate them. The sub has not risen above its trash label. Stay MGTOW, ditch that pathetic sub.

When there is nothing to compete over, men tend to get along with each other really well.

If you meant to show that men treat women better than they treat other men, and women also treat women better than they treat men, then I agree and I see you have lots of studies to back that up. But I don't believe for a second that women treat each other better than men do. Women are nasty to each other. Men, in the absence of women, get along way better and more naturally than women get along with other women.

I haven't been able to corroborate the anti-vaxx claim in my investigation, yet, but I've heard about it. He is trans-exclusionary, though, possibly a TERF. He doesn't write about it in his books, but he has tweeted some pretty nasty things about trans women. The guy has a serious god complex. All men are evil including men who call themselves women, except Lundy himself of course, whom you should believe and trust. The truly sick thing is that his books are very popular. There are thousands of …

I'm thankful to not need those kinds of services, but I agree that they are anti-male. RAINN is not feminist that I'm aware of, but they do seem to believe that men can't be victims, and you can include the National DV Hotline in that assessment, too. Both organizations feature articles in support of Lundy Bancroft, a popular abuse self-help author who is very vocal in his belief that men cannot be victims, although he never uses those exact words. His books are a tinderbox for lighting fires of…

We don't have to do anything. Just be yourself. If you are really a liberal thinker, then that attitude will show through in your posts and comments. There will always be naysayers, and we shouldn't do anything on account of them and what they think.

Thank you for your support. It means a lot, and it shows great character that you are able to empathize with what men experience even though you haven't had those experiences yourself. I think if more women were able to understand existence as man then a lot of hate and anger and anguish could be avoided.

The left wing has always been the ideology of acceptace, open-mindedness, looking to the future, and change; and the right wing has always been the ideology of tradition, protecting what you have, and honoring the struggles of the past. These two positions are at odds and must constantly be balanced. Sometimes it is important to secure your resources and look to tradition for guidance with difficult problems, and sometimes it is important to leave the past behind and make progress towards a diff…

I disagree with him, then. The GOP is a far greater threat, not only to society but to our very existence. The party that denies climate change and does everything they can to speed its progress are much more dangerous than the party who denies mens' rights. Also, I have much more faith in liberals' ability to change and be better.

Our voices are being heard. We are becoming louder. Many times someone has been in a difficult fight and has felt hopeless. There are signs everywhere. Feminists aren't able to say whatever they want without pushback anymore. They are careful about what they say. Many people are afraid to identify as feminist anymore. Little things, like #JusticeForJohnnyDepp A few years ago the idea of turning an abuse allegation around on the woman in the relationship would have been unheard of. Amber Heard to…

There is no such thing as a male feminist. There are male allies, which are second class feminists who aren't allowed to speak if there are women speaking, and any time a real feminist says anything he is obligated to nod his head and agree. If anything, you should pity these losers.

Hmm this is one where I would disagree. If women feel unsafe on the street we should listen to that concern and believe them. There really do be weird creepy mofos out there following women and girls. What we shouldn't do is white knighting, or do weird stuff like OP is bringing attention to, or force ordinary men to jump through hoops to make women on the street feel safer. And honestly should they feel safer in that situation? If a man who wasn't going to harm anyone in the first place goes ou…

It makes sense like, at home at night and you are both tall and walk softly (like me), and you hear someone coming down the hall who will freak out for a second when they round the corner and see you standing quietly in the kitchen, then yeah you might give some audible signal they can recognize you by. But this other stuff is creepy and hilarious. I imagine someone taking this to heart, but who isn't trying to pass a woman on the street, just walking at about the same pace as her, being like, "…

That is horrifying. What is going to happen to these Australian boys in 20 years? Boys' behavior will get worse, not better, because they are sucking the value out of their lives. They may internalize the message and become ultra protective of girls (like radical islam), or they may reject it and become bitter and angry. Most boys develop a natural inclination to protect girls. Telling them they aren't doing enough is going to blow up in everyone's faces.

Ditto looking up material on domestic abuse. Searches for abuse come up with 5-10 articles on abuse from a non-gendered perspective, and 100 articles for women. Searches for abuse with male victims gives roughly the same result.

I don't know, maybe don't refer to boys as perpetrators and girls as victims, a priori? Can we start there? I've looked up some of these programs they are running in Melbourne and Victoria. By education on consent, you mean teaching boys that they need to obtain it and girls that they should receive it; that boys need to apologize to girls because men are rapists; that girls are the victims of sexual assault and men are the perpetrators. You know damn well they won't have more than a token foot-note for victimized and abused boys, "oh and boys can be victims too, BUT girls are the main victims AND abused children with penises need to take a back seat to the real problem, which is t…

Horseshit. This article is not empathizing with boys or giving them an entry into the conversation. Right, but they are responsible if they promise protection from harassment as a service, and clearly state that they do not offer that service to white people or men. If reddit said they aren't responsible for user content and won't police it, then I would agree with you, but they have created a situation where policing content is a service they offer. Question: if reddit is a business, and businesses aren't allowed to discriminate on the basis of race or sex, and someone is harrassed, and that person is denied service by reddit (in the form of intervening against the harassment) based on their race or sex, then is reddit not legally liable for race/sex discrimination? I don't know which ones are deranged. I keep in mind that feminists are human beings, too, with their own problems and their own reasons for believing what they believe. Please understand that the way I talk about feminism is informed by years of experience interacting with them. I didn't just wake up one day and decide that feminism is bad. As long as you believe that the world is run by men and men need to take a back seat to women's issues, then you will never be better than those people. Frankly, I haven't seen it. I've engaged with feminists for years. I've read feminist texts. I've had debates and seriously considered the merits of those beliefs. lol here we go again. Anything that is good is feminism, and anyone that disagrees with feminism is either misguided or morally bankrupt. That's what it means when I say feminism is sectarian. Dissent from the perfect truth that feminism teaches is unacceptable. In that way, it shares a lot in common with other sectarian ideologies and radical religions. Non-believers are heretics. The thing you fail to realize is that feminism's fundamental principles are woo woo sexist pseudoscience. You cannot be a feminist, believe in the patriarchy, and not also be a sexist piece of shit. And I don't want to hear this nonsense about "that's not real feminism". Yeah right, that's what feminists always say when confronted with the consequences of their hateful ideology. Wow we have a big problem then, because men do not feel represented by feminism. I mean, if you are a men's advocate, then shouldn't you be listening to men when they tell you what their needs are? I suppose the whole thing calling all men trash was really designed to help men? How about when MeToo was going on and male victims of sexual violence tried to come forward, and feminists shut them down, told them flat out that this isn't for them and their voices don't matter. I think the main thing is delegitimizing feminist theory and removing it from academia. This is a slow process, but we have already seen professional criticisms of gender studies programs at universities. This is rich. Bullshit. That's not all patriarchy theory is, and your claim that men are the ones who mostly reinforce problematic institutions is both false and super sexist. That's some good old fashioned feminist misandry right there, and a good helping of ironic misogyny as well. It's really fascinating to watch feminists talk about gaining more power for women, and at the same time painting themselves and all women as hapless waifs.

We don't live in a patriarchy because patriarchy theory is make-believe nonsense. Men, now and throughout history, have been competitive risk-takers. Some of those risks played off and a few men found themselves in a position of power. Most risks that men take either don't pay off or backfire. Women are not as prone to risk-taking behavior. So a bunch of individual men through history have fought and clawed their way to the top. If patriarchy theory stopped there then it would be fine, but it do…

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/04/21 05:44 PM

Patriarchy is also make-believe nonsense. The theory is supported academically by the same people who peer-reviewed a study that replaced some of the words of mein kampf with feminist buzzwords, and they approved it. Men are not generally in a position of greater power, they cover a wider curve of power. More men are at the top than women, and also more men are at the very bottom than women.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/04/21 05:40 PM

So it is a system that favors having men in power, but average men and women are all negatively affected by unchecked power. How is a patriarchy any different from a matriarchy in that regard, except for the sex of the person(s) in power?

Does patriarchy theory explain why men are at the top, and why that is bad?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/04/21 05:31 PM

We do not "take that it exists", and there is no point in capitulating to the logical soundness of a theory when the theory is wrong. Logical consistency doesn't make it right. Anyway, I would argue that patriarchy theory is not at all logically consistent when you get into it.

Nothing is explained by patriarchy theory. It's woo woo pseudoscience that has weaseled it's way into modern academia. Men have held power historically because we are competitive risk-takers, and sometimes risk-taking behavior pays off.

With race it's a pretty clear cut thing where racism and socioeconomoc conditions caused by racism have kept qualified people out of power merely for their racial, ethnic, and/or cultural heritage. It's also pretty clear that there have historically been more male leaders and innovators than female, but I don't think that is explained by sexism or a make believe patriarchy. Not down with most of this, although I will agree that men who identify as involuntarily celibate need help more than ridicule (I'm also referring to the declarative term, not the politically loaded one). To me the idea of a "moderate feminist" is as absurd as a moderate trumper or a moderate cultist. I agree that moderate feminists still believe the same radical ideology as the more radical ones. They say there are reasonable feminists, but they don't understand that their entire pseudo-religious sectarian ideology is NOT reasonable.

My advice, as always, is to stop focusing on women. Your post, as much as i agree with your sentiments and I understand your frustration, focuses on women: how women feel, what women experience, what women need, etc... And this is a problem. The best way to fight against this hateful narrative is to focus on your own problems, male problems, and stop worrying about what feminists want you to worry about. I agree with this wholeheartedly. As someone who has also been through an abusive relationship, I learned about setting boundaries to make sure I never found myself in that situation again. Men don't know when to tell women no, or even how to, and girls are not taught how to treat boys with human decency and respect. Men just expect women to be a handful and a pain in the ass, and it shouldn't be that way. We shouldn't allow ourselves to put up with entitled, petulant behavior.

I'd be glad to. This is a process apart from everything else. It is a unique situation. Of course not. It is a possible false allegation. It's also a possible true allegation. This isn't a trial. The committee has to make a judgement with the facts they have. Guys, I've been posting here for a while. This accuser against Kavanaugh sounds legitimate. Her story has the smack of truth to it. It's a tactic used by feminists to turn conversation about men's issues back to a discussion about male dominance and oppression, usually in an effort to get the offending thinker to change their beliefs by a show of sympathy: Feminist: "Men control everything and oppress women!" A guy needs to have sex before laying down a commitment. Sex is very important for men to establish feelings in the first place. Men will often feel intense love and infatuation after sex with a woman they find very attractive. The infatuation wears off eventually, leaving just love and steady (hopefully good) sex. It's important to get the infatuation out of the way before making a commitment, because if love doesn't develop then he's going to leave, eventually, and you don't want to stake your…

True independence is special. To be fair, they have a point here if put in the right context. I've been trying to talk about men's issues with people and some feminist will come in and say something about how women have it worse, or what about this issue that affects women (why aren't you talking about that?) It really pisses me off when they do that, so I don't have a problem with women getting angry about someone injecting men's rights into a discussion about women. What I do have a problem with is the thing we all know an…

Cockiness isn't sexy in and of itself. It's usually the opposite of sexy. It's only sexy when it's backed up by actions. A cocky punk goes into a bar and tells the girl next to him he's going to get on the mechanical bull and own that thing because he's the fucking shit, and the other 6 dudes who just got bucked off are all scrubs. Nothing in this guy seems like he's actually able to pull it off, and the girl just thinks he's a cocky idiot. Definitely not attractive. Usually this ends with the c…

His money is the only thing that made him sexy. He has power, and he wields that power shamelessly. However, let's consider Donald Trump as a person in his most recent press meeting: instead of announcing his plans to speak and making the media come to him--because he's the fucking president and the media can come see him on his time--he calls into a morning news show. Instead of taking charge of the event, saying what he wants to say, and letting the media respond if he feels so inclined, the h…

Probably not. I'm dominant in the bedroom but my gf is pretty independent outside the bedroom. She keeps her submissive behavior in the bedroom and on the dance floor because it turns her on when I dominate her. She doesn't want to be turned on when we're buying groceries or doing taxes--she wants to be an equal partner in a loving relationship. We're not BDSM at all, just like the primal aspect of a man "taking" a woman. If she were submissive outside the bedroom that would be fine with me, I g…

Yes it can work. It worked for me. I spent about a year walking around the US countryside, backpacking and living in the wilderness. The expedition took place in 3 legs over the course of about 2 years. I committed "social suicide"; walking away from my life and becoming a wandering hermit with no name. I had few responsibilities at this point and it was a good time for me to go. The only thing I was really losing was my job. I lost a few friends, too, but that's a side-effect. After coming back…

Sexual Harassment: Continuing to pursue someone sexually or romantically after they have told you to stop, or doing something sexual to someone--even once and without having to be told to stop--that no reasonable person would consider acceptable sexual pursuit. So the definition there depends on what is "reasonable". Telling someone you think they have a nice figure is ok. remember that women desire using the relationship as a vehicle to change/improvement more than men Funny, I can't seem to remember that. It seems like that's not actually the case, that men generally want to improve themselves more when they're in a relationship (better job, dressing better, keeping a clean home, getting life in order, etc...), and every man I know gets this same boost in desire to be better from the woman in his life. Definitely. Men are more prone to fatalism and gallows humor; staying calm in dangerous situations and thinking clearly in an emergency. Unaffiliated (MRA-lite), Male: Q1: I think men have an easier time inspiring love from someone who is already their mate. Potential mates, though? I would still say men, but it's a much steeper difficulty curve. Women have an easier time up front, and as attractiveness increases the curve goes up pretty steadily. With men on the lower end of the curve, it's extremely difficult for them to inspire any feelings of love in the opposite sex. If we compare just the low and middle of this mind-chart, …

The plain language of the law merely says that there must be a penetration and the victim does not consent. A court could easily interpret this to mean a woman being penetrated without the consent of the man (penetration - consent = rape). There's a shred of truth in that, but well-off men are in fact fighting for men's rights. I'm a liberal, doing reasonably well for myself, have a woman in my life, and still I fight for men's rights. I think the point, though, is that feminists can't claim they are fighting for equal rights for all people if men are required to push back. There's a good reason behind it. People are more afraid of their family members being taken away in secret (a real problem in several South American countries as we speak) by the government for undisclosed crimes. To prevent this, all crimes are made public, or at least the families are informed of the charges (in cases of crimes by minors or sensitive, confidential cases). So on the one hand you have the threat of secret police (nobody knows what the defendant is charged with or where they are)…

In this case, destroying a person's reputation and throwing them out of an institution of higher education, effectively limiting not only their career prospects but their life in general, constitutes a clear threat to liberty. However, if the university is a state actor, then all the rights afforded by the constitution must be afforded to the accused in campus SA proceedings. Wtf is this even talking about. The key points just says "the gender gap" over and over, like that's an understood measure of anything. Not the "gender pay gap", but just "Gender Gap". Like, "Oh, you know, the Gender Gap." No I don't fucking know. What does that even mean?

dude wtf universe are you from lol. I see we have a complete misunderstanding. You're saying flirting isn't universal human behavior, that it's not hardwired into our biology. I'm not wasting my time on that conversation.
/r/MensRights01/11/17 09:15 PM

Flirting. Flirting is human instinct. Hitting on someone is just shorthand for aggressive flirting.

I feel you brother.
/r/MensRights01/11/17 07:07 PM

Actually I meant it at face value. It's something that men do. I was thinking in broader terms, as in 'flirting', but used 'hitting on' instead because it implies a more aggressive style of flirting. Yes, not all men hit on women, but most men do flirt, and even flirting is not safe from feminism.
/r/MensRights01/11/17 07:02 PM

It's not the status quo, it's male instinct. The difference being that pursuing women isn't some social convention that can or should be changed. It's not likely to ever change. Same as is the lion example, except that in the lion example the action hurts people, whereas with men, hitting on women generally helps society. I'm highlighting the fact that feminism has created a culture that makes it seem like normal, innocuous male behavior is not only inappropriate, but actually harmful and trauma…

Good points. Your point also draws contrast between female sexual liberation and male sexual condemnation. The roles are reversed and a double standard has been created. It's so frustrating to hear women talking about having the freedom to be sexual and pursue their desires while men are being persecuted, literally, for trying to express their sexuality.
/r/MensRights01/11/17 06:49 PM

I know. They banned me for 7 days today for speaking up about it. Apparently it's "minimizing harassment" to tell women to stop whining about minor annoyances like men trying to approach them.

Hey that's another thing women need to work on. Stop freezing up and being all subtle. If you don't want it, say it. Make it clear. Shifting slightly to one side isn't a clear message. Men are hard-wired to get pussy by any reasonable means (and some are willing to resort to unreasonable means). You really have to tell him NO. Keep 'em coming. I want to find all the things women do that piss us off, hurt us, put us down, and degrade us, and get that fucking article on the front page. These are t…

My position is the default position. You're the one coming in here with a different idea than what's already in place, so you're the one who needs to explain why your position is worth considering. Bringing up a different idea and saying "prove to me how my idea is bad" is lazy, dude. You need to prove how it's a good idea, and you seem to think that you've done that. Because that steals the voice from poor and disadvantaged people, which is the problem we already have and which universal suffrage was designed to combat. Giving voting rights only to the few creates social unrest which often leads to rebellion and revolution. _ Privileged |- (advantaged) |- Basic Rights |- (disadvantaged) |- Oppressed _ Here's a graphic showing the disparity of rights. I agree with you that if the state treats voting as a privilege then it makes sense to call it one, but really voting is a basic right. So not being able to vote is oppressive, rather than having the right to vote being privileged.

Doesn't mean she isn't mentally ill, and it doesn't mean she doesn't deserve compassion. She can serve as an example of what's screwed up in our system that it allows people like this to take advantage of innocent men, but the damage is already done.
/r/MensRights11/09/17 07:14 AM

I believe she deserves compassion regardless, and it's very likely she's got some mental shit going on she needs to take care of. We should be blaming the broken system that allows disturbed women like this to so easily take advantage of innocent men, instead of the disturbed woman herself. Men do stupid, manipulative crazy shit too and we get the book thrown at us. It's still the system that's the problem. Mentally ill people should be helped regardless of gender.

Central America is good. Belize literally has citizenship for sale. English speaking country. Beautiful tropical climate. Home prices are roughly on par with the US. If you have 60k to deposit and a steady income you can buy your way in. Also Svalbard. It's a global community that will take pretty much anyone, up in Norway. It's also small, isolated, and cold as fuck. They don't need to enforce immigration there, so you're pretty much welcome to go try. EDIT: Also polar bears.

That's not a fact it's something you made up, or someone else made up for you and you believed it. You agree that rape is a big problem, and that there's a big focus on stopping it. The false accusations stem naturally from that. Whether it's intentional or not, true or not, someone is more likely to be taken seriously if they accuse someone of rape in a society where that's a problem. That creates a situation where a false rape accusation could be taken very seriously, prosecuted, and even end in a conviction. It does happen. The fear of sexual contact goes far beyond just false rape accusat…

Well when you put it that way it makes sense, but it's not that coherent. There's no point at which the man is supposed to move on. He can stay right where he is and be bitter forever (from what I've read and heard). I don't hear anyone talking about moving on here.
