Do you think it’s sad or regrettable that this is the mindset in your country? Come England! It’s the best- although I’m biased. In the west we have freedom of choice- but is this necessarily a good thing? At least you guys have low divorce rates and better expectations of yourselves. I think that’s one thing that western culture should return to- family. In the us especially- single motherhood ratings are skyrocketing. I think it’s really important to have a tight family to lean on for support.

You’re English is great don’t worry! Do other men and women in your country seem happy with arrangement of roles? Would you ever consider moving? What made you realise that this type of society was negative? Do arranged marriages actually work? Are both genders happy within the marriage from your experiences? I honestly think that it’s less risky to write this sort of thing in the uk as opposed to America. Maybe I’m being naive. I will just have to wait and see if I receive any consequences for my writing being too “controversial”.

Wow thanks that’s really kind of you to offer. I won’t be writing it for a few months though. The first few months will be the “research stage”. It’s a bit more than just an essay. I’m hoping to get the whole course finished by the end of year 12 (in one years time). I think mental health is a really important aspect actually. I think men are still expected to bottle up their emotions. Society still looks down upon male depression and other mental health issues. I think there is way more support…

Thanks for the tip- if I’m going to talk about boys as opposed to men, then maybe my EPQ should have a heavy education theme. I could talk about the difference between boys and girl in relation to education. I might be able to get 5000 words out of that. Thanks :)

I suppose. I am going to talk about this with my teacher and find out if picking a risky topic will effect my grade in anyway. I also need to find out how these are actually graded specifically. I would prefer to write about something that I believe in and am passionate about, but like you say, it’s not worth jeopardising my grade over. I have 2 weeks to pick a topic so that gives me plenty of time to do a little bit of research on multiple topics. Thanks for your help though :)

I think it is a slightly dangerous topic, however, if I stick to the facts it should be fine I think. What I might do actually, is name the piece “are women still disadvantaged in modern western society”. Then I will talk about the issues women are facing and men are facing. When I conclude the piece, I will talk about how this proves women aren’t disadvantaged but men are. This might be a slightly better approach. Yes the uk will be my main focus absolutely. However, I do think circumcision is a really important point to bring up though! Maybe I will slightly touch on it. I’ve gotten loads of ideas from this post, it’s now about narrowing them down. Thanks for you’re help though :)

Thanks! All that is very helpful and exactly what I was looking for. It’s quite a long essay so I will include quite a few topics in my piece. Demonisation of men in culture is definitely something I want to focus on too in particular. I think I will be able to write a lot on how society sees men and how they are treated. Tbh they are all great points though- Id love to touch on all of them! I’ll have to see how much I can fit in. I want to give each issue a thorough analysis. Thanks again :)

I’ve watched it! You should too- it was great. It really opened my eyes. I’ve always thought feminism was unneeded and toxic but up until a couple of months ago, I thought MRAs were too. The Red Pill showed me that you guys had some genuine concerns. Since watching that I’ve wanted to learn more

Unsure. I have to write the essay then perform a presentation. The essay itself is only a small bit of my entire EPQ- I have to write about each stage and research etc which gains me a lot of marks + my presentation skills. So even if they don’t like the topic, they can’t make me down for doing the work surrounding it hopefully- I will have to see. I’m only a couple of weeks in and haven’t started looking at it properly until today. I will find out the actual grading process soon I hope.

I think it’s culture. Not all uk girls are like this but some are. It’s the lower class section of girls where their whole life revolves around alcohol, sex and drugs. It’s sad really. There definitely seems to be a lack of respect and morals within certain areas of the uk and classes. “Chav” culture is definitely something we are battling against.

I’ve considered this as well. I just want to write about something I’m passionate about and that’s politics. Maybe I could pick a less controversial political topic? I just don’t know what else I’d write about if it was not politically linked in some way. The EPQ will not effect my other subject grades, they are completely separate. I completely agree with you. These are the common arguments I’ve heard thrown around. I think I will also touch on custody as that seems to be particularly disadvantaged to men. Feminists viscous and nasty behaviour towards men will definitely be included if I do either of these topics. This has to be proper essay though so I’m in need of statistics to back up my points. Do you happen to have any links to credible studies? I want to nail this and make it as accurate as possible :)
