This is very sage advice. Thank you. As to your last point, I think I chose my last words poorly. I started to realise through using Tinder that ultimately to play the game, you need to craft an image that's suitable for short term/hookups - being romantic/polite upfront simply doesn't work with the vast majority of Tinderellas because it is such a shallow app. I guess what I want to do here is change my approach to understand how to find a relationship with someone I connect with, as you say. T…

Thanks for the reply. I'll reply to each: they're marketing I had an eye opening encounter when I went to a friend's wedding and I saw some of the bridesmaids playing Tinder. For them, it literally was playing. They were just looking at the meat market. I think that's what a lot of guys who take Tinder very seriously forget. I'm trying Bumble but it has a very small userbase where I live. hash runs I was considering getting into geocaching but this also sounds like fun couch surfing I won't be t…

I don't want a gold digger, but I do want someone who matches with me from a lifestyle perspective and who is interested in me. I'm unlikely to get along with a girl who works as a homeopath for instance.

Hey bud, I've had similar experiences. At least for Tinder, I find that I had the best results when I was pretty forward with being sexually interested. Also, girls I think struggle to truly have one night stands so being aggressive helps. The problem starts when I meet girls who are closer to relationship material and where I subconsciously sabotage myself.

Nah I think A was bullshitting personally. But we shall see.

What if you weren't aware that they were friends (this is me right now)? Here's what happened. I've known girl A (bartender) for about 3~4 months. I'm a regular at A's pub and she's always very flirty with me so I pass her my number on a card with my name and an invitation to a gig. She tells me a few days later that a whole heap of personal shit has gone down and that 'she's not in the right headspace for a relationship' (eg, fuck off you ugly sob). Shrug my mighty shoulders and continue on, me…

You don't. I had a girl who I worked with invite me over to hers for movies... A week after she had told me and two of our colleagues about the new love of her life. Noped out of there. Not worth it. Listen to Henry Rollins and replace 'rape' with 'sexual harassment'.

Okay (I know what the subtext means and I know why she framed it that way). Is it a problem with me though? I hit that particular line a lot.

How Tinder calculates your rankings. They use it in Chess tourneys. The more matches you get with your account, the higher your ranking. If you match with a highly ranked profile (ie, a profile with lots of matches) your own rating rises significantly to reflect that. Your ranking also drops if you are blocked. Bumble is shit. Lots of dead profiles. Avoid.

Use photofeeler to improve your photos. Also, try deleting your account and refreshing it (wait a day though - they kill your ranking if you're too high).

Delete your account, reset the app. Try using gold in a more populous city to improve your ELO score.

Thanks, but if I keep getting rejected like this there must be something wrong with my approach.

Yeah of course (it was a blues gig and I play lap steel). I always spent a few minutes ordering chatting and work out where she was at. I'm not a massively social person by nature, so I've tried to conquer that by talking to random people and getting to know them (which is where this started).

Yeah, that's what I already do. I never mentioned anything romantic to this barista - just said 'want to go to this gig? Band sounds pretty badass'

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
