What would you say to a very talented person, who starts a company, gets investments from wealthy people, and buys machinery and hires workers who consent to the exchange of labor/wages, and they sell the product to customers who consent to the price, and when a poor person asks that person to contribute to a social service, they say “I don’t owe you anything/you don’t own me”? I think in the west the only things that have really made people poorer / sicker are things like the Indian removal act…

The policy I describe is more so a form of “social democracy” which is not socialism, i think also it only works if there is a small percentage in need of social services with a large percentage who are producing a lot, it’s probably unrealistic if the former is a larger percentage and the latter is a smaller percentage

I think that it’s possible to increase the merit of the merit-less rather than authoritarian coercion of reluctant parties, for example in some European countries, the government pays for cosmetic surgeries if someone is unhappy with their outcomes.

What do u mean in the second paragraph? If society is committed to a degree of “redistribution”, and the unpopular people have accepted, then why would the grievances not matter / they have to pound sand?

In theory 99 percent of people can pair up and not be single, the issue is there are a lot of ugly people who want average looking partners , and average looking people who want attractive partners.
