Eh, reason Justice League was beyond saving was because they'd finished principal photography and started post work when Snyder had to exit the project owing to his daughter's suicide. The studio took the chance to have Whedon tweak stuff at such a late hour that there wasn't any way to make it fully his own or make his style jive with Snyder's. That's fair. At the very least, there's WAY worse stories featuring Monica (cough fucking Nextwave cough) than any of the race/gender flip storylines people have been getting up in arms about, though. Eh, there were better things to get upset about in the last Fantastic Four movie. Completely wasting Michael B Jordan's talents on such a prosaic role was completely unacceptable. Well, I can't exactly tell how far back you mean to extend your whole "for awhile now" comment, but a lot of folks I see make that comment treat it like part of a recent trend Marvel's been on of messing up their characters by changing their race or gender. I find that interesting, because Monica Rambeau took over as Captain Marvel in October of the same year as Jim Starlin's The Death of Captain Marvel saw publication in February. I hope they make an adaptation of The Death of Captain Marvel at some point. Maybe not with him, but with someone who's well-established and beloved. The whole "even superheroes can die mundane deaths and must cope with that" angle could be really interesting to see done up in live action.

It's incredible how they managed to pay off a grand total of seventeen critics. There's a MASSIVE conspiracy on here, especially when you compare it to the 22 total critics who reviewed the previous Christmas special at a ratio of 19 positive to 3 negative. Meanwhile, the user reviews on the Christmas special jumped from 196 logged to 665 logged, but that can't have anything to do with the sudden drop in percentage positive.
