This is nature. There is very little choice in the matter. The vast majority of women have to bleed. It's as pertinent to the cycle of life as eating. Or it could be looked at as a chronic disease that requires a monthly prescription. Neither food (in many places) nor prescriptions are taxed, why are feminine hygiene products?

I agree that birth control is society’s responsibility, not just women’s. I’m all for paying my fair share if it means BC is covered by insurance. After all, I’m not the one that has to remember to take a pill every day, or gain weight from depo shots, or have a surgical procedure for an IUD, etc. I’m also in favor of the removal of taxes from tampons and pads. Not sure where the argument that they want them for free is coming from, as I’ve only seen the argument to remove taxation, but they are…

To begin with, right off the bat, women have only half the toilet seat positioning responsibilities that men have. They have one requirement: make sure the seat is down before they sit. That's all. Men have two: 1) make sure the seat us up before we piss and 2) make sure the seat is down before we sit. We already have twice as much to think about. We don't need to assume the women's (much smaller) share of responsibility.
