Yeah I noticed this recent trend that basically says that 'good guys' are just 'bad guys' with extra steps and that self-describing as 'a good guy' is a red flag. It's definitely promoted in some media (recently in the movie Promising Young Woman, in which every single man is a predator and everyone says the stereotypical 'good guy' sentences). Unclear what is the end goal of spreading this idea.

This looks quite bad from a few angles. First, the subtext seems to be that somehow women throughout society internalized some complex of inferiority because of a long-standing hypothesis about cavemen (other articles about this news make the connection more explicit), however such 'sexist' theory is actually from 1968, not from 18 BC, thus its effect on the mindset of women in society can't be more than a few generations. Second, it's not like we have plenty of evidence from more recent (and mo…

Surely such groups fuel the same paranoia as anti-immigration/racist groups. If your feeds show you constantly men/immigrants being bad, and you shaped those feeds by having already at least a slight bias to begin with, you'll just confirm even more your bias. What is kind of curious is how some of those groups started as a way to empower women but ended up just making them more paranoid, less trusty and willing to engage, basically closer to an incel than to a strong, independent person.

I think this has more to do with the environment not fully embracing the role shift as much as the example couples in question, however, I do notice that some of these 'conservative gender roles' still creep in among 'modern' couples I interact with in my daily life. In all of these couples the woman is same or above the man in earning and social status, and yet there are often 'jokes' or comments from the woman complaining about lack of 'stereotypically male' behavior from the man, particularly…

I never understood this angle. Imagine being neutral about the Holocaust cause most of the perpetrators and the victims were males.

What's kinda interesting is that when you point this out (the reality of male vs female victims), some of the more intense feminists would say 'yes, but still the perpetrators are overwhelmingly males', which, while true, would imply that male victims are 'less victims' if they share the same sex as their attacker. Now imagine extending that same logic and suggesting that males that died during genocides by the hand of male war criminals are somewhat less victims cause both are males.

whole heartedly agree that diversity is better. With no intention of being confrontational, why do you think that? Most of the people I asked recurred to circular reasoning like 'diversity is better cause you have different people'. Not to add that currently 'diversity' means just having representatives of different and separated 'types' that, by definition, cannot really understand each other (cue the various 'if you are not xxx you cannot understand'). It feels like promoting tribalism rather …

It mostly goes to show that a lot of 'progressive' women still feel the need to compare themselves to men rather than doing their own thing the best they can.

Let's not forget she turner herself into ad advocate and activist for victims of domestic abuse worldwide, she became a UN ambassador and wrote 'opinion pieces' on The New York Times and Washington post. She hijacked the #metoo, #timeisup movement by framing her personal story within the general context of women being victims of violent men, only to end with the ugly truth that she made those stories up. This surely will affect negatively real victims of abuse, not unlike what happened with Juss…

Why do so many Americans care about what celebrities think?

It's called 'no true scotsman' fallacy. When someone that identifies as a member of a group you are part of (e.g., Liverpool FC fan) does something bad, you just say he is not really a member of such a group ('that's not a true Liverpool FC fan')

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
