I was part of the old atheist communities, back when that was all the rage, so I might remember him even a bit earlier than you. Dude was a nut from the start, he said that a true atheist would be a murderer, that atheist are all liars, etc. Those debates with Dillahunty and some others shows that he always had weird views.

An interesting element that I do think deserves some study is manga and to some degree anime. Of course they are not as popular as Disney, but they are becoming prominent. I dont really think women need to do that, clearly they prefer the current arrangement. You could argue that women should turn to a more egalitarian style of dating, but I doubt many would actually be interested in changing how they act due to some abstract notion of justice and equality.

Living in Norway, I disagree. The parties doing their coalitions internally is less desirable. In Norway you can vote for any part of the left or right coalition directly, and how many votes they get determines how strong they will be in the coalition. It is much easier for new ideologies to come to the forefront. And some parties are not part of any clear coalition, but could join either, such as the centre parties.

As a Star Trek fan, Id say Picard(in TNG), Riker in the early seasons, Bashir, Sisko and O'Brien, Kirk, Spock and McCoy are all good examples, and I could keep going. All of them are flawed, with Spock being arrogant, McCoy slightly bigoted and Bashir just kind of annoying in the beginning, but all of them great.

As others have said, just being a good person and calling out bad behaviour in your daily life is a lot, and it can be very difficult. I dont know if there are any charities dedicated to any mens cause(doesnt have to be one that identifies as MRA) in your area you could give to, but if you have the money that is of course another option.

A very good point. My favorite version of this problem is in the flat earth documentary on netflix, where the head flat earth guy says that scientists wont admit the earth is flat because they will be ostracized. The interviewer turns it around on him, with all the relationships hed lose if he admitted the world was round, and there is a sort of awkward pause.

Norahs book is great, but the way this is written suggests that her experiences as a man led to her suicide, which I dont think is true. Even for the mental breakdown she had after her year as a man, I found it a bit difficult to tell to what degree the "having to live as a man"-part caused it.

The Harry Potter thing with Voldemort is interesting, because in the new movies we get essentially a gender-flipped case of it, with a man brainwashing a woman for sex, and it is given the proper seriousness. I grew up believing myself to be a feminist. The newspaper I read as a teen had a coloumn every tuesday written by a feminist, like a feminist scholar or author or something. I found the bigotry and leaps in logic to be different from what I thought feminism was. I cant remember exactly what it was, it is so long ago. Circe is a good example. Artemis I feel is the opposite, the slaying of innocent men is terrible, and I am not sure that she was ever condemned for it. What about Medusa makes her fit this? Good of you to check out a new perspective. I think a lot of good points have been made already, but Id also suggest checking out the subs mission statement. For me, I guess the primary concern is for mens issues to be seen as as systemic as womens, and that, just as with almost every other problem other demographic has, we look at how society can change to help men rather than demanding men change.

There is indeed the danger of americans looking for a "strong man" in a crisis, as happened before, but I think Trump is so mired with guilt in the public concious that he would have trouble benefitting much. That said, americans did elect him once, so once more is worryingly likely.

I do agree that decoupling men from the classic gender roles is a worthwhile goal, but I dont think this will work. A big difference is that while an orgasm is pretty much guaranteed for a man, it is not for a woman. To get a good experience, they have to be more selective.
