IMO, martial arts are great at helping with the discipline part, though might not help with having time in your life for all that other stuff.

Hey man, goals start somewhere. Or....is this the goal? And how the hell do you pay for that?

I get what you're saying, but I only ever ask in general terms when asking in real life. Maybe what I'm doing is self-selecting the fact that I usually ask competent, successful people what they're working on. Those types have real goals, can talk about them in general terms, and plan long-term using short-term milestones.

If anything this makes me glad I don't live in NYC.

You and OP are just hitting all the nails on the head. What gets me about gold digger types is that they expect everyone else to act responsibly for them while they go running around spending up everyone else's hard earned cash. It's like some perverse Kim Jong Il situation, where you should be the dirt eating people of DPRK and she gets to hang out with Dennis Rodman - I mean her girlfriends - while you hear about it on state tv and pay for it with your days at work.

Women are people, sure. So are guys, but that doesn't mean everyone of each sex is a saint or devil. Guys that go for slutty girls are like the guys that use all the cheat codes. It's easy, but you don't achieve anything. Find the girl that's out of your league and go for her, that's my MO. Guys or girls, ambition pays. It makes life worth living, doesn't it? And what's so bad about that ambition involving a lovely woman, a battle of wits, hormones, and will that ends with us both sweating and f…

Dude, the hunt is at last half the fun. If it was easy then everyone would do it.

Why do we have so many? Because the media loves them. They are mindless consumers with disposable income a decade after they should have stayed saving for a house.

The entitlement is strong with this one.

Being petty to your own kids. Classy move there.

That is awesome. Good on you for realizing you're doing exactly what you want with life.

Maybe we should agree to disagree? But only on how you get there, we do agree on the end goal. Also, maybe my style is a little brash, but I consider this discussion as much as anything else, not confrontation. A discussion which makes me want to ask the guys on this sub what they think is an experience that helped form them. That's a valuable discussion on growth as a human, and without you it wouldn't have been possible.

This is my fundamental problem with all this: I'm no super alpha. Hardly, and I never even pretended to be. Your definitions here are perpetuating all these labels for actions that force myself, or anyone else with an ounce of self confidence to be, by your definition, some super human megabro. On the issue of how to provide sensible guidance to guys just finding their footing as an adult human male in the US, I agree it's needed. The method of making up all these rules is, IMO, doing more damag…

So then what is the goal here? To be the man you want to be? Or be "like" some guy you think will get you laid? Long vs. short term goals. Complex problems demand tailored solutions. One size doesn't fit all, and I agree that guidance, not rules, are how we get things done. Unless you are a physicist. Lawyers, doctors, members of our armed forces can all attest to the fact that there are multiple ways to skin a cat. So let's skin it and see how you did it compared to how I did it. That doesn't m…

My thought is that all of this "rule" stuff is distracting. You talk to a girl, things are working... And then you check some made up rule to make sure you can make a decision about your own life? I make my own rules. I call a girl or bed a girl when I want, how I want. OP's quote is wrong. It's not fuck the the date rule; fuck the concept of made up rules dictating what I can do.

Seems like a fair assessment. I've been fortunate enough to be friends with some former marines myself and they rarely get the benefit of the doubt from too many people. Stereotypes go both ways, so I could easily see how OP's new friend would start out on the assumption that Marines who aren't married with 4 kids are all jerks if that's how her family does it.

I don't get what she was even taking about with you all giving anyone or anything a bad name. You were playing pool, not robbing the place.

100% agree. I learned about the effect posture has on how people and when you know to look for this, it's impossible not to notice, and does seem like magic.

Ah, yes, the plot of every horrible sitcom, romantic comedy, and HBO series starring a horse since 1983.

She can't spot a pattern that she keeps getting dumped? I'm glad she's so sure of her strategy...

This. It's not that this is necessarily even a male/female thing, it's an insecurity thing. No one who thinks they are so smart goes around telling you that. They demonstrate it. So now you need to consider why Michelle is so insecure. Why would that be, now? If I thought any day a dozen scandals might catch up to my hubby and I and ruin our lives I might go around telling everyone how great I am, too. Edit: a word

In the religion of celebrity you defend your prophets with the same veracity and ire of thousands of generations before us. I'm surprised they didn't try to drown you to see if you were a witch.
