There ought to be a sliding scale of penalties depending on the age difference. I'm not in favor of adults banging 14 year olds but a life-wrecking felony conviction is insane. A misdemeanor that can be expunged after a a couple hundred hours of community service would be far more reasonable.

I don't recall the exact number but despite texas's reputation the vast majority of murderers never gave the death penalty. I think the statistic was that 6% of first degree murder cases get the DP.

This article addresses some real problems but it's very one sided and should be taken with a grain of salt. HuffPost has a very clear political bias. You can be sure they'd never run an article about what a murder victim's family goes through with our legal system or anything of that nature.

This is the most sensible answer. Fucking around with someone's medication and giving them a powerful drug without their consent should be a serious crime but it's not murder. Felony assault sounds about right.

Not all fetal homicide laws are stealth attacks on abortion. In Maryland (one of the most pro-choice states in the country) it's only murder if the fetus is past the point of viability which IMO is sensible.

I agree, this post is a little too cliche. Huge income disparity, girl lies about taking the pill, guy is screwed, posts from a throwaway account. He's not even really asking for advice. The only two options are fight for custody or don't. He knew that before he posted.

Well suspects are named in other crimes so I don't see why rape cases are any different. What I don't agree with is keeping the accuser anonymous. I'm sure it's terrible for real victims, but if you're going to make an accusation that can ruin a person's life you should stand behind that accusation. There's just too much potential for false rape claims otherwise.
