Happens to me as well. You have to be the one who initiates things from next time onwards. Don't try to impress everyone and try to befriend a single person, generally the most beta one out of them. This has usually worked out for me and it's mostly this guy who invites me out for the events with the group and with that I try to expand my friend circle and befriend the others as well.
